ArmA 3 Tutorial/Showcase: SAM Sites, Radar & Datalink (Encore Update)

Some of the keys used are below:
R = Choose next Target
T = Choose Target currently in crosshairs
Ctrl+R = Enable/Disable active Radar
[ or ] = Switch either mini-display to Nav, Sensor, drone Cam, etc.
And a UAV Terminal, used via the scroll menu, to control the various static pieces.
Well hey, I wanted to learn how to use these things, so I taught myself and the best way to do that is to teach others, turns out.

Yes, the addition of SAMS was supposed to be a balance in power to give jet pilots something a bit more fearsome to worry about, But countermeasures and height still wins, And now we have Anti Radiation weapon systems so...

I really enjoy the expansion of air war. ArmA 3 has seriously shaped up well with the expansions, I just wish there was an easier way in game to rearm and change your SAM/plane settings and armament.

I believe BI needs to take the virtual garage system and allow players to access the customisation feature of it and also add pylon configuration to it. **edit** I would personally make this accessible via Ammo logistical vehicles.

while fiddling around in project racs if i put down a SA-2 missile site the system will target the plane but will not fire , but if i put down a radar then it will lock on and fire

So i was playing a game of Warloards and its at the stage where its 5 v 1. I'm on the side of the 1. And you get all the enemy in Armour and Jets (bunch of weak muppets). So i try to set up a system of air defense at least. I have both the Radar and the Missiles. I wish i knew what I was doing wrong. I know the enemy jets are up but I see no Targets. I had the Radar on the coastline but doesn't see anything flying. I need to get this working. I will keep trying.

I think arma has one of "those" communities lmao im in the same boat, dropped 100k cp trying to get a functional sam site going only for them to be insta killed by jets........ I thought sams were designed for the sole purpose of killing aircraft? There's no controls listed in the field manual, online tutorials have a bunch of settings in the editor that aren't in warlords...... good times! xD

Warlords radar will only work if someone is actively controlling it via the UAV terminal

it seems as far as I can tell the ground based radar things only have about as much range as your render distance

Unsure - as far as I'm aware there is no system for that in base ArmA 3, but I'm also certain you could do it with ACE. You may be able to sling load and move the SAMs and Radars with vanilla helicopters, however.
