I think this list was done really well! I agree for the most part although personally I would put Shroomed above Wes and Swedish, but that would just be because of his most recent results. I get that we have to take the whole first half of the year into account, so I'm not too against putting him where he was. Other than that, I agree wholeheartedly! If you want a legitimate, notable falcon win over M2K, then just mention Wizzy at Smash Rivalries. Though to be honest, M2K was playing pretty weird that whole tourney, but at least it is more of a convincing win.

I'm an m2k fan but if he loses 3-0 or 3-2 unless there's straight up hacking or w/e a loss is 100% a legit loss. even invisible ceilings/phantoms I'd still call it legit but just unfortunate in the way it happened.

Besides some variances here and there, it seems that you, M2K and Leffen had pretty similar lists. I don't watch enough competitive Melee to say any one is more accurate than the other, I just find it interesting how much consistency there is between the lists.

Top 6 is pretty much what I expected it was more interesting to see 7-15 since a lot of players have stepped it up. I'm not a pro so my opinion may not matter but I do agree if we're talking about the Top Players you can't just only look at their sets vs the Top 5 and losses to players Ranked below them should weigh more heavily but again not a pro Melee player so take it for what it is

2nd half of the year should be much better, M2K is a much more steady player these days and has been pretty solid, Leffen is starting to up to up a gear, Hbox too though the days when he's really on it are erratic like Smash N Splash, and Mango can't have a worst first half of the year, 3 losses to Chu won't happen again. All of that makes it very competitive at the top. I'm not gonna mention PP because he's a long way off but he's one to keep an eye on. That said, I think the players below that are stagnating for the most part -- Plup has all the ability but sometimes sandbags or lacks application to actually win, Sfat has ambition but is irregular and fading, Chu has had a good year but you wonder how long it lasts, Axe is great with Pika but that's limiting especially with so many Foxes at the top, Westballz has plenty of ability but zero application or ambition to put it to use. I think Wizzy deserves props, he's certainly getting better, so I won't shit on him. But for the most part, 6-20 are kinda boring in what seems attainable for them. It's all just little periods of form that they don't even capitalize on to win a tourney.

This is just for the first half of this year. Don't Park was included because it was intentionally excluded from the MIOM 2016 rank due to being late in december. All of the top 5 have set wins over Armada last year, like that Evo placement, M2K at UGC, and Mang0 at big house.

As much as I'd like to place Yason at 3rd, he needs to be 5th right now. CEO Dreamland and Saints Gaming both had Hbox, but considering the last time you dropped a set was Big House 6 Mango, Leffen, and Hbox are on a higher level than M2K. Let alone the fact that Leffen lost to Zain, regained his composure and proceeded to beat all three of you at SnS2 is an incredible run. If Jason can take a set off of you this year, then I'll happily stick him in the 3rd spot.

I know all of that, that's why I said to me. It only got rated because all of the top 5 came. The event did not have the pressure and hype of a super Major. My point re means the same. M2k has 0% change to win the biggest tournaments of the year. Like the last few year he has not made a super Major GF in the first half of the year. He is always a Dark Horse but never the favorite to win it all.

I have to disagree. If puff is broken, then why is he the only top ranking consistent puff player? Its a much harder character to play than people think, and with fox being a horrible matchup, its really overrated in the meta. Cheese or no cheese, Hbox plays puff really well, which is why he's so good.
