Been drawn to Tatar bows (and traditional forms of archery in general) in recent months and after watching a ton of your videos while in quarantine, I ordered a fiberglass Tatar bow from Alibow about a month a half ago. Shipping during this pandemic is understandably tricky so I'm just eagerly looking out my window for a package to arrive any day now. I cannot wait to get started on thumb release - and dreading it at the same time :) thank you for all that you do! Those bows are beautiful

Anya, I did exactly the same thing with a cheap "HuntingDoor" bow made by Top Archery ... sort of like a budget budget version of the Alibow fibreglass Tatar ... included a leather thumb doobie. Same eager but nervous wait. Anyway, got it finally and it's so great. This thumb release shenanigans is amazing fun. My only advice: start very short range and don't look at your arrow, only look at the target. I used to 3-fingers-under release and shotgun aim down the arrow like an American bow-hunter, so this has been a big learning curve. But it's great fun. Instinctive shooting is amazing. Good luck!

@@gussie88bunny oh wow thanks for the tips! Will definitely be doing that :) I'm still brand new to archery having my 1st bow (a takedown recurve - I opted for a bow with a shelf to get started) arrive just 3 weeks ago so I'm still finding new things to try out each day. I am loving this journey so far and so excited where it goes from here :) instinctive archery is definitely something I would like to develop and work on. Thank you again and take care!

@@antwantuan4040 I'm glad you mentioned the leather thumb ring.. I did order a brass ring from Alibow but was concerned with the actual fit and all so eventually ordered a leather one (from China - I'm located in the Philippines) so at least I can play around with what works :) thanks for the tip!

Well this seems tailored for me considering my comment on the last video. So Happy to see your comparison for all the price points. I have a one piece older version of the AF tartar and was looking to see weather the feel of the take down was the same. It seems like it's on par with some added improvements. I'm mostly happy to see them do away with the leather arrow pass and go with the inlay at every price level. Love the videos Thank you

Hi! Mr. Armin 😁 excellent comparison. You who know me that since I have my cheap AF tatar bow has provided me with a lot of fun. the first week I felt a vibration if you held it too tight, When I learned to use it well I didn't feel that vibration for a few seconds. I use it with the arrows of AF 385grains and it works fine. Now if I were to make a decision to buy another one, it must be with German Glass. It is safer to last longer. Thanks for this nice video. Enjoy your day. 😀

For practice they are both very good. I have seen videos of Miguel using the cheap one and he has a lot of use of that bow and it still works well. I appreciate that video, it helps me think to order. I'll have how the cheapest one works for me. Thank you very much. Armin.

Good comparison, I really like the original string pad and the way the nocks are designed, it gives the bow a pretty finished and clear look, On the new bow I like the way the string pad is part of the design. I like that you can choose the wood type on them and the possibility of take-down too. Nice seeing all the comparisons lately, have you've reviewed all the AF laminated bows yet?

And there is a distinct difference in tone/ note of the bowstring when firing arrows ... they are the same when no arrows are fired but with arrows the pitch of the sound is very different... the bearpaw (less vibration) has a much higher tone.

Great comparison, thanks! I noticed that AF also makes the SiCai in a takedown version, though I don't see a review of yours about it. Considering your experiences with AF, these Tartar bows in both their standard and takedown versions AND the SiCai, would you feel comfortable making a recommendation between the takedown SiCai and Bear Paw glass takedown Tatar? Thank you for your time!

Thanks for the review. The standard version may be good for someone on a budget but when you consider these bows often fail within 12 months, this doesn't really make them affordable at all. I've had 2 standard AF Tartar bows crack in less than a year of moderate use, hopefully the upgraded version is longer lasting. They're so nice to shoot and were my favourite bow, it's just a shame they don't seem to last very long. Looking forward to seeing how this newer version holds up over time. 🤞

Armin Hirmer i imagine that the wooden core and glass fiber of updated one are of better quality. Perhaps the wooden grooves of the siyahs add more weight at the edges of the bow making it little less sufficient speed wise.
