First of all, shallow hooker... That made my day 😂 From what I understand of string twist, the reason why the arrow flight is straight is because you bend the arrow into the bow slightly. And upon release it straightenes just enough that it doesn't touch the bow. At least this is what I heard about it. Personally I don't do it yet, but I intend to do so eventually. I'm not a fan of thumb rings, but these minimalistic ones look pretty nice. I was surprised by the shallow hook though. I thought the string would slip off the ring before you had time to bend it. Interesting. And speaking of string twist, I re watched War of the arrows just two days ago. Such a good movie. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I highly recommend it. Awesome video as always. Thank you 😊

Fun Video Armin, I like the the Ring with the Leather. The one I hate the most: is the one I built out of PVC pipe & Duct Tape last week. Ouch!! Great Video!!

Hi! Mr. Armin.😀 Great Info. Apparently it can be done with almost all rings, it depends on how comfortable the ring is on the thumb. Nice.!! When I use my leather protection I have had no problems. But obviously I had to practice and find that essential point. Depends on the Bow, good!! in which I have. And the bare thumb is better. Well I learned it from you. Cheers!👊😀

Thank you master Armin that was quite a good and fair comparison..kinda thought the leather would score high as it closest to bare thumb? Not sure just seems more intuitive somehow..Excellant vid as always!

Hi another question Armin! For my advanced Yuan bow (from alibow) in 55-60lbs, do you think the Alibow shallow hook or the Leather ring you showed here would work better? I plan on practicing on a lighter bow in the future from Alibow but my spur ring hurts quite a bit when I use it.
@ArminHirmer2 жыл бұрын
In this poundage you need a ring which fits perfectly otherwise it always will be painful. I am not sure if leather will do the job long term

Thanks for your video. It is very difficult to do the twist and hit target. I only know of a Mr. from Puerto Rico, who seems to work that twist. Everyone at the ranch has tried it and the arrow goes out in the right direction. I admit it I'm hard to learn. I must have more patience. Thanks.

First of all I`would like to say I`m very inspired by your videos, shooting and general good attitude:-) And then I`ve got a question you might have heard a thousand times before. How do you use the Manchu ring without it falling off during th release? I`ve made a ring myself that gets ripped off my thumb every time i shoot it. Now, most likely I`ve designed it wrong, or my technique is off, but I still wonder why a sylindrical ring stays on:-) Sorry if the question is stupid. Sincerely Øystein

I've noticed ,since I been practicing bare thumb shooting, that the tendon in the inner thumb between the first and second joint is getting thicker. Is that normal? It does not hurt.

There must be something I don't understand about the spur ring. It's purpose is to lift the arrow off the bow? Would it be possible to show a close up of the draw technique for this ring?

hi, please honest question.. what is the purpose of string twist? I 1st saw this in "war of the arrows"(awesome bow movie) and it seemed like the guy used it to curve arrows(shoot around objects). not sure, a google search didnt show nothing

Hi Armin. Is the 40# 32inch bow an Imperial Khesig?
@justneedductape50934 жыл бұрын
I tend to nock with left thumb assists, but upon release, I remove the thumb completely to ensure some clearance. I don't know am I doing enough string twist, but it is enough to keep the arrow on the bow without moving up or down when pull. I see some comment on the Korean bow movie, I am not sure if we twist string that much though.

Is the crabby bow comparable with the nomad horsebow (first horsebow)? I mean I prefer the look of the nomad horsebow with that wood, but I don't know if it is as good. Thanks for the answer!

Thinking about getting a new ring, my brass one originally was fine when I was shooting a 35lb Turkish bow. But with my 40lb Kheshig is has gotten uncomfortable. This is where I ask for your advice on what would you consider a comfortable thumb ring?
