Yup. It is amazing. It was widely used during the Korea-Japan War of 1592 or the Imjin war and it was chronicled to be faster than normal arrows and even faster and has a longer range than musket bullets. It is also faster to load than muskets and it was by Korean marksmen alongside normal arrows. This is one of the reasons alongside superior military technology and tactics why the Koreans managed to push back and defeat a numerically advantaged Japanese armies during the Korea-Japan War of 1592.

Korean bows are shot by pulling the string as far as the length of the arrow. Korean bows are very powerful when pulled to maximum. That's why, when shooting a Korean bow, put a string hook on your thumb and shoot. It is made from wood, horn, plastic, copper, silver, etc.
@bigeyeshot3 жыл бұрын
Armin, look carefully from 7:29 to 7:50. The string is not properly attached on the ears. The bows can get unstrung with your eye in the tip. Like younsaid on 7:50: if you don't know it, don't do it

i have the segye with the big foam grip in 40lbs and the kaya ktb in 50lbs. pros of segye @40lbs -32 max draw -smooth draw -lightweight -big comfortable handle -rayskin arrowpass -comes with a korean bowsleeve cons of segye -only one color option when you order with big foam grip -stickers are a little cheap for $200 bow. would rather see some whipping -center serving on string is a little on the thin side -they were out of stock of the bow, but didnt mention it on the site, took them a month to get the materials to make the bow pros of kaya ktb -not sure what material they used to cover the limbs, but it seems nicer than the segye, almost feels like leather, thin leather -not as many stickers, instead used whipping -was able to find for only $140 shipped in the USA cons of the kaya ktb -leather arrowpass deteriorated quickly(i ended up buying rayskin leather and adding it to all of my bows that didnt have a rayskin arrowpass) -smaller handle. the handle is leather-wrapped, and bigger than my ottoman bow, but smaller than the segye -no bowsleeve the YMG handle looks great, weather resistant and grippy, decent size, but might effect my way of khatra. if i could email all the korean bow makers my wants they would be 1.) bigger handle (atleast as an option) 2.) include a bowsleeve 3.) more color options

Some Korean bowyers also seem to sell RH and LH models in Korea, which seem to be tillered a bit sideways. I own a Kaya and and a Forever Carbon. Proper Arrow selection makes a huge difference it seems. I would love to get more infos on choosing the right arrows and bows length from Korean manufacturers, as well as more infos on proper technique.

The answer I've been given more than once on seeking the correct arrow for a bow, (providing your draw weight (poundage), draw length) is to ask the bowyer, maker, or at the very least the seller. Email or phone them. Buy the appropriate arrows with the bow.
@fabianastor52974 жыл бұрын
for korean bows in general, recommended arrow weight is about 7gpp. save draw lentgh of korean bows seem to correlate with the bow length. 48´ about 31.5´, 50´ about 32-33, 52´about 33.5 - 34.
@jgh66664 жыл бұрын
From what I found out until now is that very soft(proper spined, not too soft!) arrows give very good arrow flight. Checked after tuning with the dynamic spine calculator of 3rivers and this gives the same result. These "proper" spined soft arrows only need a little bit of torque, and give smallest groupings for me. I can shoot very stiff arrows as well, but need a lot more torque, and groups are bigger. Problem with me is arrows in between these extremes, these tend to still bend a lot, hit the riser and give very bad arrow flight. Testing a whole range of different spined arrows would make an interesting video. And of course checking with what korean bowyers do recommend.

The price of gakgung is very high (About 1000 usd based on freddie archery website). Besides, the bow might get damaged during the shipping process due to inconsistent heat and temperature. So hmm, it's very risky to buy gakgung by using export method... And, if I'm not mistaken, it's also really hard to take care of gakgung, you need a specialised box to store it (because it used natural glue on it). If it doesn't be taken care carefully, it will be delaminated. And that bow might only suit south korea temperature, but not for other countries. So hmm, it's very risky to have it.

Mal sehen was sich machen lässt :) danke

I soooo love your video's.. My segye is otw, your armin 10 code works great. My wife sat next to me, while i watched this video. She said, your voice sounds like a pilot speaking through the PA announcing the flight route before take off 😁 Please keep us entertained as long as possible. Alles gute und Gruss aus Indonesien..
