There's certainly a few of these suits of armour that are clearly meant for other people and consequently works better for them. Take the odd proportions of the commoners found in elden ring with their elongated necks for example. The helmet makes more sense for them to wear than it does for us. The helmet is the only thing Im not too in love with, but everything else is perfect for me. Really gives off the aesthetic of a noble knight who's been using the armor for a *very* long time. Regarding the bloodhound armor, the bloodhounds act feral like a beast and they fight in a cuadrupedal posture so the neck and calves dont get exposed but the back does. That posture fixes the neck problem and it makes the helmet aerodynamic and able to deflect foward slashes. So the fantasy element kinda fixes the irl problems the armor has.
@iota-09 Жыл бұрын
Tbf the neck still doe get a little exposed compared to the calves, so his critique of the neck protection at tye very least is not out of this world. I do agree that in-context it is a much better set than what was criticized, but at the same time we have to reason: if we're thinking about it as a set for a regular knight(tarnished's version), it's barely functional, if the bloodhound's, while definitely on the cheaper side of what it should be given the bloodhounds reputation, a far better suited armor for them.

Maliketh's armor makes a lot of sense for maliketh, though. He fights on all fours, most of the time low to the ground. The plate armor is where he needs it the most, the scales makes sense because he is facing the enemy, and the scales being positioned the way they are would make the blade slide down, away from his chest. And chain on the stomach for constant tummy scritches, but also to save on money because it shouldn't be exposed to an enemy anyways.

The reason Carian knight armor has one 1 steel gauntlet on the left hand is because it is mainly used by Carian spellblades who wield their staff in the left hand. their right hand usually is holding the Carian knight sword (which has a attack that blocks and then strikes) which is their main close quarters weapon. So while their right hand is slashing and stabbing the left more vulnerable hand is protected.

@sharpfang Жыл бұрын
Maliketh's armor focused on his bestial agility. He could protect his belly area well enough, be it staying on all fours or dodging - meanwhile anything less flexible would restrict his ability to contort and twist his torso nearly 180 degrees as he commonly does. And the spiked elements are more likely to disarm the opponent than lead to injury. With his speed, you're unlikely to land a precise thrust, and likely to get the sword caught between the plates and ripped out of your hands as his full body momentum opposes your hands strength. Bad armor for a human, great for a sleek beast.

fun fact: Maliketh's armor is meant for a quadruped and as such, the softer/flexible armor on the belly is actually going to be scraping against the ground (potentially) so it makes sense to not have a solid plate there because that would push against them should they hit the ground a bit harder than expected. However, the limbs and back are all solid interlocking plates that articulate in a way that would make sense for a dog or a cat. Edited to pre-empt pedantry.

Amazing B-roll footage and your integrity in the knowledge of the game was surprising. Did not expect your insight into what the 'Tarnished' would be seen using, as little emphasis was placed on that aspect of the character in the game and it has actually enhanced how I see armor as a whole in Elden Ring. Well met. :)

Fun thing is Leonard (which is radahns horse) doesn’t carry radahn. Radahn learned gravity magic for 2 reasons 1 to arrrest the stars (which really hurt his mother and her ilk) and 2 so, he could keep his scrawny yet brave horse. Radahn is the same as malena their both stagnation personified 1 wants to break away from it and radahn refuses to change. Even being rotted and mind gone he still is arresting the stars on behalf of the golden order and his father. Really cool quote from him is “I was a champions cub. Now I’m the lord of the battlefields lion.” Which shows his tremendous respect for Godfrey. That’s the reason he has the lions on his armor since Godfrey took the beast regent serosh and that’s sort of his sigil. Elden Ring has so many tiny details

As a Massachusetts resident, I miss the old Higgins Armory museum, where all the exhibits were on display in a distinctive L-shaped room inspired by the great hall of a medieval castle, with banners and stained glass. I'm glad the exhibits found a new home in the Worcester Art museum, but I'll miss the feel of the old museum.

It's super cool to see a breakdown on these armor sets! As someone who's obsessed with medieval fantasy I love to do research into inadequacies of my favorite armors, and videos like this are a great way to learn! If you do a part 2, I can't wait to see the Banished Knight and Veteran's Armor, as the banished are my personal favorite faction in the game!
@SephirothinLEGO Жыл бұрын
please do a part 2 to this video i loved it! i would love to see a review of some of the starting armor, like the vagabond and confessor sets. i would also love to see a review of the banished knight set, hoslows set and the kaiden set
@Archer-1453 Жыл бұрын
While not my hands down favourite (I’m an unbearable sucker for the Kaiden Set) I really appreciate that the Carian Knight armour looks like it’s designed to be worn by someone who’s not intent on fighting as a traditional knight; rather a warrior who adopts foreign forms and aesthetics to more closely resemble that archetypal armour style while still prioritising their own accustomed function. As far as knightly plate armour goes in Elden Ring, the Carian Set really doesn’t seem to be nearly as protective at a glance. It is, as pointed out in the video, that would fit closer to a tournament or party piece. Yet, it’s absolutely covered in what I assume are shards of glintstone (the game’s catalyst for arcane magic) as well as having one gauntlet that is not obstructed by metal, likely to accommodate the utilisation of spells. Such a cool design

For the radhan horse, the character uses his gravity magic to basically nullify the effects of gravity on the horse, as he had the curse of becoming a giant, cursed that he got from his father, as he participated in the masacre done to the giants on the mountains

should've done veteran's armor, did any of you guys realize in-game that the gauntlet on the right is mitted, and the left is more like a finger gauntlet? it's a very small detail, and im sure some other armors might also have this too, but thinking about it more, it's a very overlooked feature that i haven't see anyone else comment about. (and by "i haven't seen anyone else comment about" i meant i just looked at like, the first 100 replies and called it a day, hope i was right) edit: underrated channel, like and subscription added

Blaidd helmet isn't part of the set actually. Blaidd is literally a wolf-human of some sort, and this "helmet" is just an assassin that tried to mimick his head. But the name and description of the helmet make it clear it isn't part of the armor set. And Blaidd just has no helmet, has it would be hard to make one for his strange wolf shaped head
