Mrs. Wilkerson, Your awesome I have been a diyer 10 yrs. When my nieces saw a Video when you started they asked me to use my shop to build shoe racks. I was so proud. Your a Great Role Model.

I do believe that this is the only channel where I don't get annoyed with all the product placement. Your approach to practicality can be applied anywhere; whether it's a commercial product or a homemade one.

I believe April is a great model for others. You can do anything by yourself if you put your mind to it, but she doesn't hesitate to get expert help when she needs training in the experience. As a single person myself, she gives me hope I can get out of the house and get things done. You go girl!

Great job April. Work surfaces are like clamps, you can never have too many.

I recently picked up several used rolling 52”x30” display tables made of 2”x2” welded black wrinkle painted steel tubing on industrial poly wheels with brakes similar to the setup of your Armor bench from a department store going out of business. The fist thing I did was to raise the top to the level of my table saw and work benches so two could be used as In feed and out feed tables on the table saw. I replaced the top shelf with Formica covered plywood to make it slick when feeding large sheet goods. I made one into a box with six 24”x24”x6” drawers and the other box open on the long sides and the divided box with eight pigeon holes for power tool storage accessible from either long side of the table. When not being used at the table saw I clamp them together for a giant assembly table or use them individually for bench top power tool stations. They cost me $10. ea. but I had to transport them myself. After watching your build I’ve decided to turn one into a downdraft sanding/ clamping table with a cyclone dust collector to pull the sanding dust. Thanks for the idea.
@rogerj.fugere35704 жыл бұрын
I plan to put a 3/8 shelf, resting inside the cross and side bars, with another shelf with lips on top. Lathe tools will be stored inside. Top shelf will lift from either side. I also ad an idea to make a vacuum chamber under the top to use as a sanding table. The sawdust will be drawn down into the holes by the attached vacuum hose.

Hey April...quick thought, if you take off the bottom shelf put in 1\4" nylon spacers in-between the shelf and bottom bar would give you space to brush out \ blow out with air when dust or shavings build up on the bottom shelf. Just a thought and love the videos, keep it up!

Not long ago I realized I was taking out and returning the same group of tools no matter what the project. I finally made a 24×24 inch tool cart with a plywood top and lots of tool space underneath. Its small enough to not be in the way, big enough to hold that 95% of my tools I use regularly, and a little worktop for project or notes. No matter where I go... metal, wood, car... I just roll it to where I am working. I do sometimes need unusual tool.. but not all the time like before.

I dont understand why put thumbs down on a video like this? What is the problem april is just showing what she did on a project for her convenience. People just need to be negative

Then again, that group is less than ½ of 1% of those who viewed it and are quite inconsequential and can be ignored. 🙂

That bench is becoming a mobile workshop of it's own :)). You could make a little trailer using motorcycle wheels (with sides so your stuff didn't rattle off and fall) so you could tow it around to job locations, with an atv or even a pickup, or just pull it out around the place by hand if it's close. Like your enclosed garden structure.

awesome vid. One suggestion, you could have taken one or two of the lower braces off and had that bottom shelf sit on the metal lip giving it greater strength.
@charlesshepherd91322 жыл бұрын
As I watch your video, it would have been cool to leave the drawer mounted in a way that you could slide the whole setup from side to side, to give you more options for the clamps to go through. just a thought. Great video and great ideas.

Nicely don. Smart. I'd consider though, to put the vertical side boards to the other edge of the U profile they are on - that way the kit you hang off them sticks less out on the side. Your shins will be grateful, I guess. It's just between 2" and 3", I guess, but still makes a difference

I just built my very first work bench based off your videos. Unfortunately its too tall. Like way too tall. I totally spaced out the fact that the casters were another 3-4 inches tall. So i am thinking of making a stepping platform for it since it'll only ever be in one spot of my garage. Thank you for the videos!!!

Your productions, including lighting, editing and sound are getting slicker. So is your vocal presentation. One question remains unanswered: for a ready-made workbench-with-casters that costs this much, what is your experience of how it behaves during work while the casters are locked?
