Dan probably meant, "You can still pull out a win." English can be quite a challenge due to special phrases and colloquialisms. The same words can have opposite meanings, and words that might be opposites in one context can be the same in others.

The mechanic you should search reference on is Zelda bosses' fights, not a fighting game such as Street Fighter. Z Target, dodging attacks, over the shoulder perspective and timing. Now imagine your only weapon is grappling hook on manual and there you have it!
