Also when lazy purple talks of pipes, he’s talking of grenades. The reason for that is that when the game was being developed the demoman didn’t have a grenade launcher, but instead he had a pipe grenade launcher. So now if you hear pipes when talking about tf2, remember that it’s talking about demoman’s grenades.

16:44 As seen in-game, the "pills" or "pipes" (as they are commonly referred to in the game's community) fired from demoman's grenade launchers (with the exception of the loose canon) explode on contact with the enemy (be it players or the engineer's buildings) should they be the only thing they hit. If they hit any surface like walls or the ground they'll only detonate once the fuse timer runs out. If they collide with a surface they're referred to as "rollers" since all they do now is just roll around on the ground until they detonate. Because of their fuse time these shots can detonate mid-air should they stay there long enough to run out the timer.

21:50 Demoman is alcoholic lore-wise yes, but other than the bottle being his melee weapon (each class has a different default melee weapon, but they all share the same stats), there's nothing about the drinking in-game. The rampage is caused by his shield (unlockable replacement for sticky bomb launcher) which give you speed charges with different buffs.

Although the older comics showed that Tavish deGroot the Demoman used to be absolutely sober when he was at home with his old blind mother, or taking a holiday in Las Vegas with BLU Soldier (in the War! Soldier vs Demoman comic). He only drinks before/on the battle field, as a mental defense mechanism against PTSD.[*] Only after the mercenaries were fired after Grey Mann took over the companies that employed the mercs and Demoman was sitting at home, a millionaire but without anything to do, did he get into the off-battle 24/7 binge-drinking. Considering that the RED and BLU team mercenaries were effectively immortal while they were employed by the Administrator because of the Respawn system and the Medic's MediGun both being a part of the Lore, then Demoman being drunk in battle or the Spy wearing nothing but a three-piece suit and no armour, is not that big of a deal. The main timeline of TF2 is set in 1968-1972, but it's a world in which ther quasi-magical metal Australium allowed the Australians (and some people like Engineer's genius grandfather, and Medic's ancestors) to invent retro-scifi technology like flying cars in 1890 (yup, the 19th century), literal Mad Science (life extender machines and Frankenstein stuff) and dark magic and demon-gods exist, and Medic has invented an upgrade to his MediGun to protect anti-missile energy shields and to bring people back from the dead whose bodies were literally exploded into pieces (only available in Mann vs Machine PvE game mode). [*] Of the nine mercenaries, the Pyro, the Soldier and the Medic are clinically insane. Demoman's Scottish clan the DeGroots have been demolition men (and woman) for millenia and have a connection to an 9,000 year old wizard who owns a talking magical book that contains the secret alchemical knowledge of how to make bombs (black powder). The BLU Engineer Dell Connagher's paternal family branch has been working for the Administrator, a 120+ years old potential evil witch who draws her eternal youth from offering blood sacrifices (hence she set up the perpetual war between Blutarch and Redmond Mann and their mercenaries in 1850. Scout's just a loud-mouthed jerk and coincidentally the son of the RED Spy (a wanna-be James Bond but really a mercenary spionage/assassination specialist who skipped out on paying alimony). Actually compared to demoman, most spies are pretty easy to deal with (see Uncle Dane’s opinion) as they’re mostly up close, so as engineer’s have the Arsenal to deal with up close enemies, if they’re aware (and possibly helped) the spy is no more than just a small pester. A demoman, combined with being a bit more tankier is also more further away compared to a spy, making engineer’s weapons just more than chip damage at best. Demo is also usually pushes with his team, making it harder to defend the gun, but a flanking demo is equally as deadly. A turtling engie will be destroyed in a matter of seconds whereas with the spy, the engineer has a chance to spot and meatshot him. However, not all demos and spies have the same skill level so sometimes you will have a spy literally not let you set up anything, and a demo outright walking into a nest, but a lot of the time a spy is only a soft-counter to engie compared to demo. Oh god I have talked way too much here. Imma head out.

But it would theoretically be allowed since it’s detonated manually. Plus, that little part with the piano is actually canon in lore, canonically, Demo can play the piano. Sniper can play the saxophone.

The part where Demoman got drunk and hit people with a broken whisky bottle, that's an actual thing. It's a subclass called Demoknight, you can equip a special shield and any melee item. The shield lets you charge extremely quickly and you can attack with whisky bottles, swords or even a golf club.

34:29 In tf2 each class has 3 cosmetic slots, and you can put any cosmetic into those slots (provided that the class can wear that cosmetic, and that there isn't already a cosmetic of that type being worn, ie, you can't wear 2 hats.). Trust me, that cosmetic set is on the low end of the wacky curve. They can get wild. Example: the heavy can get a bird head, have a bird on his shoulder, have an undead sandwich ghost follow him around at all times, and punch people with living bread on his fists.(the bread is a weapon re-skin)

Landmines are designed to cripple, not kill. This way additional soldiers have to drag a wounded ally off the battlefield. For this reason, the biggest civilian death-rate for landmines is children. About the 'pipes' thing: The Grenade Launcher's projectiles (aka 'pills' in the community) are designed to either explode directly on impact with an enemy player or Engineer's building, or automatically detonate 3 seconds after being fired. In the TF2 community, 'pipes' refer to the first mentioned direct hits, while indirect hits are routinely called 'rollers'.

The game actually literally defines the role of Demoman, Heavy Weapons Guy and the Engineer with his auto-aim sentry turret as "area-denial classes". Of course, over the years and especially in competitive tournament TF2, the Demoman is now a highly mobile attack class due to blast-jumping and his ability to deal massive damage, instead of Valve's idea of the Demoman's role of lying stickytraps and destroying Engineer nests. Whereas the Pyro (who was originally envisioned as a flanking attack class by Valve) is now more of a defense/utility class due to the flame-throwers compressed air blast to reflect enemy projectiles and extinguish teammates who are on fire. And Pyro is also the best class to spycheck for enemy Spies and and his ability to assist the Engineer against Spy's sappers. The Spy is of course the 2nd class specifically designed to destroy Engineer sentries, teleporter pads and dispensers, as well as sneaking behind enemy lines to backstab their Snipers and Medics.

Demoman can use a alcohol bottle as a melee weapon along with swords, axes and other stuff like frying pans as well as every other class expect the others also have melee weapons unique to them

As on making classes made to make engineers life a living hell: pyro can use alternative attack on his main weapon on all the rockets from fully upgraded turret of engie to return them to him, soldiers can rocket jump and destroy engie nests from the sky, and spies can mascarade as engie's teammates which makes turrets not target them, or go invisible, and have a device which causes all the engie's buildings to get disabled and then selfdestruct

If you want AoD, one of demo's sticky launcher, the Scottish Resistance, doubles down on the whole AoD, bc stock can only have 8 stickys out and has to detonate all of them, but the Scottish can have 16 active stickies, and allows you to detonate which trap you want, but comes down to decreasing demoman's already poor self defense by increasing the arm time of the stickies, which leads to relying more on the grenade launcher

With Team Fortress 2, you are allowed to equip up to 3 different cosmetic items per class, as long as they don't get placed (as far as the game sees it) in the same position. And with the game having been around for almost 14 years at this point, you have a lot of cosmetics available to buy for each class.

34:34 yes, you can mix and match hats and beards and stuff (limit of cosmetics that can be worn is 3 with a fourth action item slot). other cosmetics can overlap stuff which makes certain items unable to be used with another (like a cap and a tophat, or a hoodie separate from a hat, or a jacket/shirt and a beard). but there are well over hundreds of cosmetics, so you can make either something you think looks good, a god awful atrocity, a basic kind of loadout, or an actual meme

Funny thing, that tumbling you see is actually based on the ingame engine for the game which effects how far the demo man grenades can fly. It's even a big deal when choosing between main weapons since some main weapons have alternate grenade shapes that effect the tumbling and range you can achieve.
