I tried out for the Army band while in the U.S. Army since a trombone slot was open. This was many years ago and I was playing on many groups all my life ; but didn’t pass audition for the 8th Army band. The section leader told me to keep practicing and I still have after an additional 30 years of playing. Actually at the time the section leader told me I was almost good enough as last chair player which now all these years later I realize that was an amazing compliment from him.

I contacted an Army Recruiter a few years back, when I was about 54, and asked him if I could try out for the band. After he found out about my age, he told me I couldn't. And I was like "I can't be in the friggin' band?".

Playing in a band teaches Goal Setting and sense of Community Cooperation and more!! Listening to INSTRUMENTAL Music activates parts of brain that require Deep Concentration -- and PATIENCE!! These are highly developed Life Skills that would ELEVATE Every American! (When traveling in Europe, people of ALL Ages were able to Quickly Identify so many Different Instrumental Songs. @gregorysmith97065 жыл бұрын
Depending on the density of the MOS, they certainly can be that young. I at one point was an MI branch manager for the E5s and below and so many were getting the traing and then getting out, thd ones who stayed in would get promoted crazy fast. It is also completely possible that all of the player slots are NCO slots, with the few junior enlisted slots being admin and supply positions.

Unbelievably well played, but the tempo and the clipped articulation of everything gives the music a serious, stone-faced, merciless character which is not the intent of the original march. The movie is a comedy, and the march is rollicking and humorous. All of those off beats in the percussion and blue note variants in the melody are meant to be satirical and mocking the traditional march. This is just a bit too poker-faced.
