I genuinely don't know what these lads were thinking here, apparently been around the game but seemingly haven't understood much. As if Slot was ever going to come out and start talking title contention, signings and player contracts in his first presser. The vast majority of the squad aren't even in the country let alone the building, and these expect him to come out bullishly to pander to their insecurities is a mad one if I'm being honest. Turned it off at 4.59

Its crazy that fans are expecting far to much from Arne already give him chance lol. I was saying to me kids today i can't wait to get started and again when my misses got back from work i just can't wait. People should not be wanting Arne to be like Klopp its a disaster waiting to happen Arne is his own person therefore have his own way of doing things hence why i'm excited to see what he does imo i don't expect him to be blunt and to the point with the media that will happen over time his Dutch and Dutch don't mess around and take 💩 look at Virgil his a beast and the first on e there when there's a scrap on the pitch, Look at Max Verstappen his the same with being blunt with no care in the world says it as it is and knows people feelings are irrelevant which is the Dutch all over. I just can't wait to the point the Euros have become irrelevant i just want to get started, Fresh manager with fresh ideas this will be a big boost for the club and us as fans i know fans cling onto the past and rightly so i will miss Klopp but we need to back Arne 100%.

This opening press conference to me is like the first few weeks/months of fighting for the title in as much as you cannot win it but you can lose it. Hodgson never really recovered while Jürgen created some early wonderful momentum. My main desire is that he presents the same as he did in the club interview - calm, intelligent and a feeling of "don't worry, I got this". I imagine Tony Barrett has been in his ear about the traps that the press can set him and the balance between being open and being too open! A difficult balance. He seemed to be very open in Holland when talking about the job - too open - so this will be a real test. I am really excited tbh. It would be nice for a start if someone could ask who his staff are going to be! They should all be starting next week and there are rumours of Anthony Barry (who I like) as set pieces coach. It would be nice though to start getting this feeling that is all sorted. I imagine he will be asked though more about his veto over transfers and whether we were really interested in De Light and Wieffer. How he manages those questions will be interesting but I am excited to see him.

Just listening to the chat about Gordon in the last 5 minutes, and while I agree that Gordon has an elite mindset and a lot of talent.. coupled with a top class workrate, why are you boys just forgetting that we have Gakpo? All of our fans are talking in a way that assumes if diaz goes, Gordon would come in and slot straight in as first choice at LW. I disagree. Let's just have a wee look at their stats from last season. Gakpo: Goals - 16 Assists - 6 Gordon: Goals - 11 Assists - 10 Now bare in mind, those stats are with Klopp using Gakpo out of position 99% of the time because he preferred a runner (Diaz), to a technician in Gakpo. He was used in CM, CF, straight-up striker, and even on the RW. I believe that was done to accommodate Diaz and Nunez, but based on the evidence we have of Gakpo playing LW, he's the far superior player to Diaz especially. Whenever Gakpo has had a consistent run of games on the left, he's been the best player for PSV Eindhoven, best player for the Netherlands, and very close to it for Liverpool. Think about the last 9 games of his first season when Klopp finally gave him a run at LW. He was phenomenal! Best player in the team by a mile, scoring goals, assisting, assured, skillfull, composed etc. He was keeping Nunez and Diaz out the team (Jota CF), and our fans were raving about him, then, fast forward to the the first game of the next season (last season) Klopp started him at CM against Chelsea😳. Imo it was so he could shoehorn in Diaz and Nunez. Anyway, I've rambled on a bit, but the point is it bugs me how our fans are so quick to throw Gakpo under the bus for Gordon. You all seem to just think any player from any other club is better than our own players. Makes no sense, and it's totally disrespectful. Basically assuming that he'd come in and walk straight over Cody's head. I believe we have a more effective player already at the club in Gakpo. I also believe he should be our first choice LW going into the new season. He's without doubt one of the best young talents in that position in Europe, barring a close match with Williams and Gordon. (Obviously not counting Vini jr and Mbappe). We just don't appreciate him at all because we have him. The facts speak for themselves though. Just look at his last 5 seasons goals and assists return. Last thing I'll say. Let's pretend Gakpo hadn't signed for us, and he's one of the players being linked this summer. Tell me you wouldn't be watching his performances for the Netherlands and begging the club to go sign him!!! The fact is, we underappreciate and undervalue players when they're already ours! Always want that shiny new toy instead.

Simple answer, depth is good haha. If Diaz leaves and Gakpo is the starter, then we need a backup or a competitor for Gakpo in that position who isn't also a backup somewhere else. To rival Arsenal and Man City's squad depth you need two quality players in each position. So right now I have Gakpo and Diaz for LW, Nunez and Jota for ST, and Salah and no one else for RW haha (Doak is too young to be a full time backup and Harvey is a 10 in my mind)

I got the impression he was trying to not rock the boat as if he thinks we are that much in love with Klopp that we couldn't deal with it if he said I'm doing things my way . He was stressing the fact he,s watched our training sessions under Klopp and he liked some of sessions so he will copy some or leave them and add his own . Now for me even if that was true I didn't have to tell us that wasn't what I wanted to hear ! I wanted to hear what he was going to do and not worry about Klopp.
