Sometime when you're in Chicago you may want to check out the amazing Thorne miniature rooms on the lower level of the Art Institute. (They decorate them for Christmas!) "Narcissa Niblack Thorne, the creator of the Thorne Rooms, herself had a vivid imagination. In the 1930s, she assembled a group of skilled artisans in Chicago to create a series of intricate rooms on the minute scale of 1:12. With these interiors, she wanted to present a visual history of interior design that was both accurate and inspiring. The result is two parts fantasy, one part history-each room a shoe box-sized stage set awaiting viewers’ characters and plots." And there is a series of children's chapter books--mysteries--set in the Thorne Rooms; it's called The Sixty-Eight Room Adventures.

Instead of a rug it might look stunning on the wall behind the blue cabinet like a hanging quilt does in a room. Love watching you both be creative and letting each other work with your strengths and boosting each other at the same time. That shows great love and respect for each other. I love the little cabinet - can’t wait to see it when it is finished. I grew up in Michigan, and every year the eighth grade class in my school went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for our class trip. This episode brought back memories - I remember the cobbled street, the submarine, and the Cinderella castle. There was so much to see that we didn’t get to see it all and I always wanted to go back but never could. I will be 71 years old this Wednesday, so this was many years ago!

I love the colors you have chosen for your rooms. I tried to find Farrow & Ball paint here in Richmond, VA. I found it in one decorating shop. Because it is imported to the US, it is really expensive and way beyond our budget..... Arne', maybe the trim you were talking about for your doll house might be "sashing", if you are talking about the cross bars in your windows? Or, perhaps the "crown molding" at the ceilings and "baseboards" along the floors. The furniture looks very nice so far. Are the paper pieces you copied for patterns to place on the wood to cut out? Have fun....

I love seeing how your work will progress for this new Blythe house. The armoire is awesome and the blue sideboard is so good in blue. I have about 6 books so far and the ones you bought are all wonderful to have!. The Colleen Moore Fairy House, now called a castle, made much money touring the US raising money for children before coming to the museum. I love it for its fantasy, born in the imagination of Miss Moore.

I would use the gray paint to only outline the diamond relief and the interior rim of the door frame. Also, I would paint gray trim along the vertical edge of the top board. Why? Because I am inspired by some painted furniture I saw in Paris; silver gray trim on white background to enhance the depth of the molding....mmhmm, so good
