@@ARNECARLOS there are also electric machines and quite a number of different brands and sizes. Accuquilt make the specifically for fabrics and have a hexagon die that will cut 6 layers accurately. Sizzix will cut not only the papers but the fabric too! Enjoy!

My heart is going to be made into a pillow for my son. In the height of the covid pandemic he went to NYC to help out. He's a medic. During the time he was away a lot of people were putting hearts in their windows in support of the medical people doing their jobs to heal the sick. He gets very embarrassed at any kind of recognition, but I think if mom makes it, it'll be acceptable.

Here it is February 2021 and I’ve only just come upon your Sit and Knit for a Bit podcasts ! I am totally hooked, especially as here on Salt Spring Island we are presently buried under more than a foot of snow and not much is moving. So here I sit knitting on my Foggy Rock merino wool socks and being so entertained by your delightful chats. Outside the birds are peeking in my door looking for handouts so as they won’t come in I do put out bird seed for them and they also entertain by busily chasing each other away. Varied thrush, so handsome, towhees, robins, fox sparrows, song sparrow and flocks of juncos. Hummingbirds have already built nests and are able to find food and shelter in spite of the snow. I so enjoy your garden podcasts as well. Beautiful! Thank you, and keep on posting. Pats to the pups 🐾🐾

Love Kates "Last homely house"(east of the sea). Subscribed for a long time now. I love her pink and greens, the window in the kitchen. Her patchwork blankets, Eilene the goose and her cats. Norma always there to take the attention. Small snippets of her family. What a great way to help each other with share skills. Like skillshare at the moment. . Moose hunt, oh no! 30 253 shot in 2019/2020. I was shocked to find wolves are allowed to be hunt too!

Exquisite explanation for cataloging moments of your lives. One of the reasons my name has been made. I was unable to speak English in school and my Art teacher became my Hero. He was able to teach me how to express how I feel thru different mediums....may it have been clay, paint or stories of his own experience. I believe the children in the school have been given that gift of Art thru your own love and lessons, and carry that moment with them forever. Many blessings and Love Arne and Carlos💕

Thanks, super interesting podcast today. The best parties always seem to wind up in the kitchen, don't they? We actually call them kitchen parties and you know your party is a success if your guests settle in there. I don't even pretend to have any other type of party - my dinner guests now generally come early to hang out with me while I cook. I feel more relaxed when I can enjoy a laugh and a sip of wine with my friends while I peel and chop. I also really enjoyed seeing your sketches and am very excited about doing your new Christmas stocking pattern. I love the motifs and the colours you used for it - so bright and happy.

Thanks for another fun session! I was giggling because I’m drinking my tea today from a fox mug, having been woke up in the wee hours from the noise of our resident fox family (properly known as a skulk). Maybe your fox deserves a block dedicated to him and his antics like shoe stealing, hahaha. Perhaps you might enjoy using some game cameras in your garden; we have a couple on our property and love watching our visitors, including a mama black bear and her three cubs! Last fall, black bears invaded our orchard and ate all of my pears. BTW, I’ve knitted blaze orange hats for wearing in our woods during hunting seasons here, just to be safe, I even wear one to walk out our very long drive to the mailbox! Not so cute, but necessary, so I understand completely. Be well and safe

Sit and knit reminds me when I was a child. My grandmother had a sewing group, mornings once a week and they rotated homes. She had me serve them the desert type thing and coffee, when it was her turn. Then when I was in college my mom started a needlepoint group plus, luncheon group. My mom was a master needlepointer. Good to sit and knit a bit. It is our melanin to white very near genes ancestry, didn't the danish island prehistoric find....she had or was depicted with curly hair. Is there Viking knitting museum in Norway? Road trip? Like the red accented turtleneck sweater, a play of different textiles?. Larger peoples do some vertical lines verses the horizontal there aren't many patterns. Unless you are a referee. Impressive the museum with the traveling exhibition, and the children's needle work. Do the thumbs up too helps spread it across the KZbin, I think. Thanks

When I lived in Vienna I enjoyed the oldfashioned coffeeshops where you you sit all day only drinking this one coffee and reading all the newspapers from all over the world they had there for you. Other people played games or cards. And not to forget the great cakes you can get in Vienna. The kitchen has always been the place I enjoyed the most visiting my grant aunts. With the old stove. I so enjoyed Sit and Knit for a Bit today. I am half Swedish and remember my grandmother sitting down for Fika every afternoon. I didn’t know what it was called, but it is a strong memory of grandma drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying a sweet. Towards the end of my parents’ lives, they would enjoy fika together and often invited me to join them. I lived with them at the time and my dad would call upstairs asking me to take a break. I watched this whole episode with a big smile on my face. Love the attention you brought to Kate's channel that stems from the Norwegian philosophy behind the "dugnad" custom - most commendable. The "fika" moment was quite enjoyable as well. Loved the "100,000 hearts" block design dedicated to all of us. The design is absolutely lovely. Thank you again for a most enjoyable podcast.

I have just recently discovered Kate! She is lovely - I am fascinated by her creativity and obvious enjoyment of it! Another young woman I have discovered is I believe a Chinese woman who doesn’t talk at all but does hand sewing and it is beautiful she does everything in miniature, except she does books, And lovely little things. She is now doing a series about 12 Christmas things. I printed out the pattern and I am going to make the little teddy bear she just recently logged about. I love wonderful creative people who aren’t stuck in just one craft because it sparked my imagination. Thank you for doing sit And knit for a bit, because I love the discussion and creativeness! Thank you for doing it!

Here from The Last Homely House shout out! Thank you for supporting Ms. Kate as you have. I would call this “paying it forward” as you encourage her and she encourages you and you all encourage us, the viewers. I don’t know how to knit and barely know how to crochet but maybe you can teach me. Much love from Arkansas, US.

I love hearing about how you guys go through the design process and how your fashion design evolved into knitwear. I LOVE art markers and color pencils!! My favorite drawing mediums. I was a landscape architect for 20+ years before teaching high school art. We guide all of our work through the lens of the design cycle. You guys are the highlight of my week every week!!!

Hi, I am an Indian living in UK . I came across your channel while looking up on Nordic knitting.I am a self taught knitter and have been knitting for the past 5 years using acrylic yarns. You have given me confidence to try natural fibers and attempt colour work. thanks a lot. At the moment I have frogged most all my earlier work and using the yarn to make a crocheted bed spread . By the way the word "Fika" means bland in Hindi- it is a language spoken widely in India !!!

How lovely to hear the Hindi word Bland for Fika , thank you for sharing that ...I don’t think we have anything similar in the U.K do we? Except for our love of talking about the weather whilst drinking our tea ☕️ 😀😀

It is pure joy to watch both of you and feel so involved and learn so much. I was introduced to Kate at The Last Homely House by my beautiful sister who is an avid knitter, as am I. It was from that intro. that we came across your videos, via Kate's wonderful recommendations. Living in Canada, one can relate to many things, especially the cold, snowy winters and the eventual beauty of summer and the gardens. I must also add that your artistic designs and love for watercolour, Carlos, reflect my love for painting in that medium, so it is even more to enjoy as a sit down chat with friends. Thank you!!!

Love your podcasts so much! Thank you for all you do. I so agree with your comment about children and arts. I have 3 granddaughters and when they visit I try to plan crafty things for them to do and they love it. I have taught them to knit, sew, make jewelry, do pour painting, tie dye, and paint on fabric. I don’t know how much it will stick with them but at least they are finding it fun and putting down their electronics for awhile. I’m going now to watch Kate’s podcast!

Thank you for mentioning Kate at the Last Homely House. I have been a patron for over a year and here I am at your station by recommendation of Kate. I’m not a knitter so it was heartwarming to hear you say work on anything you enjoy. I work in the crazy healthcare world so these vlogs are how I unwind at the end of my day. We discontinued expensive tv cable service and haven’t missed it one bit. Thank you Arne and Carlos, blessings.

I am also a huge Kate fan, we have lots in common. She too is a 60+ beekeeper! When I made the quilt with hexagons i arranged them into the pattern called Grandmother's Flower Garden. The hexagon are arranged with a center hex (yellow), then surrounded with same color hexagon to form the flower, then all the "flowers" are connected with hexagon to form the path(green). Take a look at this pattern...reminds me of a quilted version of your crochet flower blankets. I'm really enjoying the Sit and knit.
