This guy lived to the age of 96 and was doing exercise until the very last day. Dude knew what he was talking about - if people could discipline themselves to eat and drink right and exercise in ways like this fellow the world would be a waaaay better place. Lalanne is right. Sickness and sadness are often a result of not purposefully taking care of your mind and body. Much of the sickness and unhappiness in the world is preventable by people adopting a positive outlook and a healthy lifestyle. It really should be a natural way to live you wake up eat right and exercise during the day. It is really so simple. We should do our best to adopt this kind of lifestyle and then teach and manage our kids in the home and in schools everyday to do this. It is as or more important than just about any and everything else we ever teach them. Ultimately for about 95% or more of people there is no legitimate reason to be obese or worrisome and live an unhealthy lifestyle. It is sad the world now. Both medical bills and sickness as a result of unhealthy eating and unhealthy living have skyrocketed. One day things will have to change. That day should be today. I remember Lalanne went head to head in an exercise and strength competition against Schwartznegger many years ago when Arnold was a young man and Lalanne was middle aged. Jack Lalanne beat him. I wish somebody would upload this competition event between the two onto youtube.

I grew up watching him as my mom exercised in front of the tv. My mom actually pulled both my brother and myself out of school to watch him pull 19 boats with 76 people in them to celebrated the bicentennial of our country. What a stud!!!!

Look how sharp he was at 90... I know many people at 60 and 70 who couldn't do half as well. As we learn more about how the brain functions, science is figuring out exactly HOW exercise helps improve and maintain cognitive ability. Jack knew it did, and he preached it (and proved it) for many decades. I did not realize his show was seen internationally, that's great. Anybody outside the USA remember seeing it???

The beauty of Jack's advice was its simplicity: reduce your calorie intake by replacing sweets and junk food with simple healthy food (fresh fruits & vegetables, whole grains, juices) and increase your physical exercise. Getting started is the hardest, but with a little effort and discipline, you can replace bad and lazy habits with a routine that will get you physically fit. And it becomes fun to do!

actually, you may be right about coleman and his cardio ability, but arnold was a national level champion triathlete in austria, even with his large size. also, in the early 2000's, in his 50's, he swam over a mile to rescue a drowning swimmer at the beach, against currents, showing he still had the swimming endurance of his triathlon days. so before you knock someone, do your research.

You can see t respect Arnold has 4 Jack. When young they had a contest, maybe: Muscle Beach, Jack won. T media asked Arnold something a while later. He said, that Lalane is an animal, I don't want any parts of him." Both good people showing almost anything we focus on enough is possible. That is my tribute to Jack.

He accomplished a heck of a lot more than Arnold. Arnold was tall and did a ton of roids, leading to multiple heart surgeries. Jack could do all sorts of gymnastics movements and was coordinated. He invented health tv, cable pulley machines, leg extension machine, health clubs. No comparison. It’s not all about money.

part 1 so youre saying, a national champion triathlete from austria, cant run a mile without gassing. you dont make any sense. did you see him in terminator 3? he was pretty big. that was around the same time he saved that man. dont talk down to me about how the body works. im an army medic, soon to go to med school as soon as i get back from my upcomming deployment. oh, and guess what? i weigh 220 at 5'10", and i ran my army fitness test 2 mile in under 13 minutes. +Joseph Foster ..... LaLanne also gained recognition for his success as a bodybuilder, as well as for his prodigious feats of strength. Arnold Schwarzenegger once exclaimed "That Jack LaLanne's an animal!" after a 54-year-old LaLanne beat then 21-year-old Schwarzenegger badly in an informal contest. { I } wouldn't ever refer to gentlemen Jack as an animal. Just outstandingly accomplished.

used to watch his show as a kid and go the goofy exercises with my mom, which didn't do much. everybody at that time thought that holding on to a chair and lifting your leg in the air 5 times would eventually give you a body like his lol. if he would have had a show where he worked out like he did in the gym, housewives wouldn't be interested. I always liked the guy, he was always in great shape, BUT...keep in mind, to the eye a little muscle looks like a lot on a guy who's barely 5 ft. tall.
@phantomdavid0212 жыл бұрын
lol. NOTHING could be further from the truth, brother. I pretty much train "tough guys" like you for a living. @phantomdavid0212 жыл бұрын
naw First off, being a triathlete in Austria means youre "at a national level" in a VERY small pool. Its really not that impressive. Secondly, in his 50's when he swam to save a life, he didn't have that tremendous unnatural muscle mass which would have drained his cardio and made him a HORRIBLE distance athlete even in his prime. Want proof? Real simple: greater amount of developed type 2 fibers, greater cardiovascular demand. Write me some time, i'll teach you about how the body works. ...
@phantomdavid0212 жыл бұрын
aw thanks for the history lesson 220.youre scary AND a genius*eyeroll* Dude. i know what the fuck dianabol is an any educated athlete or gym rat knows that an oral kickstart like d-bol and low dose of test DOESNT MAKE GUYS LOOK LIKE THAT. If you believe that and DO happen to juice or bodybuild, you have a LONG way to go.also, i give two craps thatyoure 220. The majority of the men i competed against were about 6'3 or 6'4 and walked around about 240.guess what? STILL WON. not impressed,lil guy.

actually, to todays standards, he took very low doses of the only 2 steroids he had available to him during his time, dianabol, and regular old testosterone (you know, the stuff men make in their bodies anyway) bodybuilders today take waayy higher doses, and many more kinds of new steroids that didnt exist back then, along with hgh, and even insulin intended for diabetics in order to suck more nutrients than normal into the cells.
