As a Blade of 43 years, we have the best manager we have ever had in my lifetime, the best team we have ever had, not the best players but the best team, they graft for each other, they know exactly where to be on the pitch for each other, there are no ego's, our manager decided that he was sticking with the players that he took from League One to the Premier League in 3 seasons, albeit a few strikers he has signed because he didn't want to disturb the system and the structure and the players ability to read each other!..we have had a great season up to now but we can be better our manager won't expect anything less than to run run run for every ball and to win, we flopped as we are used to winning, up until the defeat by Man City that was the first away match we have lost since Jan 2019..but Arsenal fans all week have been talking about the Chelsea game they have dismissed us, we beat Arsenal at Bramall Lane and we should have won today, we are an attacking team always have been, we have one of the best defences in the league, the only part we are lacking is the strikers which shows why our manager didn't want to change the rest of the squad as they have been in the team since he took over, the strikers are not firing yet but when they do, we will beat anyone!..Chris Wilder, he was born in Sheffield, he played for us and he has always said its his dream job to manage us and now look plus he just signed a new 4 year deal!...this is a great time to be a Blade!..back in the Premier where we belong and beating and competing!..UTB!.

You speak a lot of sense Hugh. Arsenal probably slightly edged it but overall a draw was the fairest result. United were excellent out of possession and worked hard (as usual) but we were under par and at times poor in possession. We always seem to miss David McGoldrick when he doesn’t play...he can’t score but his hold up play, intelligence, composure and awareness is impressive. He drops deep and links midfield to attack helping us have more possession and look more of a threat playing quality football to create chances. You’re also correct about Wilder, he’s an impressive human being and a leader of men.

Looking at the Prem from the inside, for the first time in many a year, it seems to me that like all overtly capitalist ventures laziness has set in regarding the acquisition of players who are vastly over priced in the market. There are players who are definitely more talented than my individual Blades; & world class, but not as many as we're led to believe looking in from the lower leagues. Couple that with managers who lack invention, proven track records and an understanding of English football, and the illusion begins to slip. Chris Wilder is the real deal, e.g. learnt his trade from the bottom up. Wealth of experience, understands and implements the basics first and foremost. Thus he builds a sound foundation. An illusion however is like a house of straw and will tumble when stressed. It really is fascinating to watch and to assess these premiership managers. Dem Blades have off days and results will show it as the difference in individual talent is then magnified; but the only managers so far to accurately assess how Dem Blades play and, actively plan how to counter it are Klopp, Rodgers, Bruce and to some extent Pearson. (Man city's win was a combination of luck, (the tackling ref), and undoubtedly more skilful players). But, this demands an attitude of respect from the opposing manager, being willing to accept that they need to prepare properly to play a team whose origins were championship & league 1. A manager who dismisses this team as long ball players and can't even refer to them correctly, e.g. Sheffield United and not Sheffield, displays a lack of awareness, respect; and knowledge of the history of the game, and then they are surprised and even indignant about the result.e.g. Arteta, Pochettino, Pelligrini, Silva et al. Truly fascinating...Live long and prosper my friend!

Arsenal's recent media activity with yet another Skodran Mustafi PR BS upload because Stan doesn't want to splash the cash on a Upamencano who will improve out back 4 massively .I like David Luiz under Arteta he's improved and has that winning mentality and easily our best CB but he's 32 so we do need a Upamencano signature oh wait we're getting ahead of ourselves Saliba is arriving in the summer Stan doesn't have to spend lol . I'm not saying spending big is the answer but our current set of players need competition Bellerin ,our CBs , Xhaka and Özil all have no competition ...We need at least two CBs aswell as Saliba sell Mustafi and Sokratis , we need a actual RB , we need another CDM , we need a more mobile player than Granit Xhaka as a another option ....This is without replacing Auba and Laca when they leave for a better footballing side .
