Thanks again for being so forthcoming about your hardships and financial results! Also screw informa! So good to know that the small town cons keep giving you good results. It feels so good to be treated like a person and actually have genuine interactions and good vibes. Makes the whole capitalist aspect of the con life much more bearable

That’s totally it!! Gotta hustle, but if the hustle is amongst a like-minded community that raises each other up, it’s much more fun 💗

Your mom having plane to go to a garage sale is very on-brand for Tuna fam. Also, I feel like you could drum up a whole sticker sheet for the cat distribution system and it would be sooo cute.

I'm learning my way around Maryland local events and the vender vibes. The small curated events are so much fun. (differences in the vibe of the attendees based on the vibes of the management) I must say see you on a ferry/traveling brings back fond memories of your part of the world (a bit south of vancouver)

I joined my first small-town artist alley/pop-up market last weekend and it was so refreshing compared to the bigger events I usually join in the cities. I love the cozy, relaxed feel and how people seem to all know each other. Despite being the newbie/stranger, they were all so welcoming. The venue was an outdoor coffee shop, which would've been terrible in the heat here in my country, but it was done in the late afternoon to evening, so it was literally much cooler. The hours were short (4 PM to 9 PM), but people just kept coming. I didn't really make much, tbh, but I had so much fun and would definitely love to come back.

I am so glad you had the same experience!! and even if sales were mid, sometimes you can make great connections with people that could lead to bigger oppourtunities. being experimental always pays off imo!!!

I did not get into AA at Otafest this year, but I'm hosting a panel so I'll be there anyway, and I'll definitely stop by! Very exciting!!

I think it was my only successful FCFS application this year 😂😂 excited!! I hope your panel goes well!

I was at covacon this year( my best friend and I are actually in the background at like 9:42🤣) And the thing i like about small town cons is people are way more polite when walking around the vendors hall, like when i go to conventions in Vancouver everyone is pushing and shoving.
@ArtbyTuna8 ай бұрын
That’s totally true!! Even in the busy hall it never felt like anyone was getting rude or impatient. Even as I chatted away with someone, another looking to buy something would just wait until I noticed them 😅😅 it really makes for a great atmosphere

Interesting, I hadn't even considered that the print rack should be transparent. 🤔 But I guess the first/front panel being clear would help. I couldn't see the structure clearly (ha ha) but couldn't you replace the front panel with a thinner piece of plexi, like 2 mil or something? It shouldn't add that much weight but help you show the first row better. 🤷
@ArtbyTuna8 ай бұрын
So true! The front panel is the main culprit. I will have to see if I can find anything suitable.

Anyone else think we could get Tuna to 10k subscribers by the end of the year? Also turkeys are evil!

I love watching these videos from you. My first 2 cons were a HUGE bust.. the first one was in town that said it was a anime con but it was more like a big yard sale... no one that wasn't selling there old crap didn't do well.. was a very sad "con" End of video: Lmfao!!! Run run run!!!!
@ArtbyTuna8 ай бұрын
this sort of thing happens to all of us!!! I highly recommend attending as a regular attendee before signing up to get a sense of the vendors who are there. you can even ask them how the market has gone for them!! you'll find the right fit eventually for sure!
