30 years ago I took a clipping from my Great Aunts rose bush, dug a hole, added water and dirt, then put that little clipping in the ground. It became the background for my girls’ annual May photo which is usually taken around Mother’s Day. Now we have I have 2 new grand babies to add to our annual tradition. 🥰 🌹

The roses in our yard went through a tree chipper and lay in a pile of wood chips for over a year and while digging up the chips to put on a harder I found the rose thriving there. I stuck them in the ground and now about three years later it’s six feet tall and about the same diameter. Either I’m a heck of a rose gardener or that’s one hardy rose bush.

That Chicken sure is persistent lol. Joseph's Coat Roses are Beautiful. They will look Beautiful there on that Trellis. Keep weeds and Grass from growing around them. Mulch them. Nosey would be good name for your chicken lol. If you put your Steer Head in a Wire Care and hook to tree with a chain or cable Mother Nature will take care if stripping it clean. Then the sun will bleach. Chickens may do also but not sure how good. But I have seen what Mother Nature can do. Just have to make sure wild animals don't steal. That's the reason to make wire Cage the secure to tree. Pasture is doing great. Wilder is growing by leaps and bounds. Stay Safe God Bless and Peace Be With You All ☮️🙏❣️

The roses will be breathtakingly lovely. I used to care for a 104 year old Italian woman who even told stories of Mussolini. She was a rose queen among other things. Every fall, she would cut a few short stems off her roses, stick them in the dirt, cover them with a glass jar, and have rose bushes to give away the next spring from them. I think some of us just worry too much!

Little Miss Prissy was trying to help y’all dig.😂❤️ I had a Jacob’s coat rose bush and it had different colored roses and they’re BEAUTIFUL! I planted mine and left it, it did great! Good luck and may God bless all you touch and plant! It has been proven that if you speak lovingly towards your plants, they thrive much better. Even when you speak love while watering them, the water is better for them. It’s fascinating to watch the water experiment with love. Oh yeah, there’s an ozone machine that you can rent that 100% kills black and all other kinds of mold.

Hi, roses are much easier than you think, the pruning is what people struggling with and climbing roses don't need much, but you will need to treat for black spot and other problems, personally I use rose clear and that does everything for you, and yes I grow a lot of roses.

🌹🌻🦋. 60 rose bushes a butterfly garden and mammoth sunflowers intertwined with a vegetable garden and no lawns is my paradise since having to give up our farm cus of an accident. Half of them are David Austin roses and all are 30 years old now. Prune faithfully and feeding them is the key along with a thick mulch in a large basin. At the base of some I planted Bridal Veil and a reseeding creeping snowy white flower to look like roses were in a vase. Every Rose has a memory attached to it and I’ve taken clippings to sprout my own. Your gardening opening will be gorgeous. I have a yellow Golden showers climbing mine that blooms most of the year and is the highlight from far away. To keep mold and fungus from infecting them don’t wet the leaves especially at night. They are my pride and I always feel welcomed home with their fragrances. Welcome to the beautiful world of roses. If I had to give up my farm what a beautiful replacement. Yep Bri I saw your huge smile and your passion. When I planted a wall of red American Beauty roses along the driveway I felt it was complete. It really fills the garden and home and makes gorgeous bouquets for anyone with the most special scents. One thing though.....hawthorn and apple trees don’t mix. A nasty tree that will give diseases to the apples. Another beautiful video filled with so much beauty. Heavenly ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sorry I'm commenting so much but my dad at one time probably had 200 roses in his yard each with their own little name tag. What's really important is that their soil is full of worms to irrigate it. Then there was a special solution that he would make in a plastic garbage can that he would put on the roses but I don't know what it was consisting of. Him and my mother belonged to the Rose society he was just really good at growing roses.

The 'Joseph's Coat' rose is "Hearty" and has good disease resistance, but not terribly "Cold Hardy". I hope you live in a warmer climate. No roses are insect resistant with the exception of the thicker-leaved varieties that are being bred right now. The 'Joseph's Coat' variety needs mulched heavy in our southern Indiana climate to survive.

Roses are not hard. Joseph's Coat is lovely. So many colors. My mom used to grow roses when we lived in Kentucky. She had about 40 bushes. The only thing you might have to watch for is black spot and aphids. I don't remember having too much problem with either on Joseph's Coat. If you have a problem with that I would use Ortho Rose & Flower Disease Control, spray on according to directions and you get long lasting control. Black spot is a fungal disease and will kill your roses in a hurry. Roses are not hard and your planting them like you did will give them a wonderful spot to grow. I cannot wait to see them.

The pastures are so lovely and green. The roses when they are established will be a picture around your entrance to the gardens.

Hawthorn is my birth tree, I was born in June. Apparently the berries are medicinal. I have a chicken that follows me too. Thanks for the update and everything looks great.
