Too many people, too little space. Migrants in Malta have contributed to a strong economic boom over the past 20 years. But as the island becomes more crowded, more and more residents seem to be turning against non-European migrants.

@ntombicumalo Yeah I know, I lived in Malta for more than a year and thank God I left. There are all sorts of jobs there, but they pay very little, food and housing are expensive for everyone and for the Maltese themselves!! A country for tourism and that’s it!!

@@TD-wk2dz you are right. I was there but only as a tourist and enjoyed myself. But, as I wrote previously, the metropolises are the most overpopulated ones than the countryside. This is all by design to control us. There must be something hidden behind the mass migration.

Umm Maltese are not like Lebanese. Nor are they like north africans. Malta does not need more immigration nor can it sustain its current numbers. There is a great strain on the quality of life, standard of living and the environment. It simply must stop. I disagree that passports can be bought just for the rich. Malta was fine 20 years ago and it was sold out by developers and the like.

Could uncontrolled immigration be an issue in Germany whose politicians have encouraged immigration both to Germany itself and to other EU countries by funding NGOs to help the human traffickers bring people to Italy.

It is a miserable state of affairs. Consider the size of the island - Late at night with empty roads you go from the furthest point north west to the furthest south east in less than 30 minutes. In peak traffic it would take an hour or more. And we get peak traffic multiple times a day.

@@stevefarrugia-dc7qt That's insane, I mean what? If I was the government i'd be tackling that instantaneously, give people a valid option of getting rid of their cars & encourage the behaviour via making it free to decompose them etc. Build public infrastructure, on such a small island all you really need are trams, busses & cycle lanes. There's a few main things the Maltese government needs to do, 1) tackle the trash problem, 2) tackle overpopulation, 3) tackle poor infrastructure & mismanagement of space and 4) diversify their economy.

It's not an infrastructure problem either, we definitely have the capability to build flats to keep up with demand, and this was only the first time our electrical supply broke down BECAUSE of high demand. The main problems are corruption, overpopulation and bad governments Our population is decreasing and the only thing they did was import migrants to fill up empty job roles, overpopulating the islands causing more traffic and air pollution along with a demand of eyesore flats that replace traditional maltese buildings and the environment, meanwhile more cars need more parking taking up even more space, but we can't destroy the environment too much or our endemic species will become endangered the same way NYC lost its oyster reef, now we could fix all of this but we have a corrupt government with no alternative government to save us so there is no solution until the rich crooks are put behind bars and the people retake their voice.

Well, it's pretty much a city state, and cities are still growing in population pretty much everywhere around the world. It's the nature of the beast we call humanity. I must say that the country side outside of the central area remains to be quite stunning, but if tourists can't move about because of road traffic the economy might collapse. The government therefore must invest in a metro rail. It's clearly not going to work without that.

Let’s talk about Malta: the population with a passport, there is a sizeable amount of people with bought passports, since Malta sells their citizenship, mainly to rich people. This means that this population is made up of people who actually provide nothing to the country’s society apart from giving money to the government and contributing to the high cost of living (while wages remain low in Malta). I think Malta should do less catering to rich people, and use their geographic position to welcome skilled migrants to open businesses, and live and work in Malta while also contributing to Maltese society. It is worth mentioning that integration would not be so difficult if they open to North Africans or Lebanese since Maltese is a Semitic language, and the Mediterranean lifestyle doesn’t differ so much from, say, Tunisia.

This ignores the fact that a very small number of people create most of the pollution. Overpopulation is a myth, we were belching out coal since the dawn of the Industrial age. Large groups can live sustainably , if they CHOOSE to, but it’s a select few who cause most of the damage.

I would not agree a lot with you. I will give you an example. South Africa had a population of 59,39 million by 2021, it is 3 times bigger than Germany which has now a population over 82 million. There is no overpopulation as such, only that people are collected together in the cities. There is so much empty land outside but, who wants to live in the countryside where there are no infrastructures. We people have learned to beg our governments, we cannot even bake the bread ourselves, cut the hair or wash the clothes. And this is what our rulers want. We must use our brains, be analytical, question everything and, stop believing everything the mainstream media says. This is only my opinion. I don't want to make anyone angry.
