Thanks for another amazing video. I'm still baffled by how DC hasn't brought this Artemis into the main comic continuity (that New 52 Teen Titans annual doesn't count). She is quite popular and has an already established fan base, and DC has brought characters from animation to the comics before, not limited to Harley but also including the likes of Livewire and some of the Teen Titans' show original villains. I know some of her story elements wouldn't work in the main canon, but I think most key elements could stay intact.
@GamerSlyRatchet17 ай бұрын
They did bring a similar version in the New 52 and they killed her off. Current Tigress seems to be closer to the comics, but they have her with short black hair instead of long blonde one like in YJ and her pre-New 52 self.

I aways liked Artemis because whenever someone died (or appeared to have died), she would be the only one would take it to heart. Everybody else would get over it pretty fast and go back to focusing on "the mission", while she would get impacted by it and need time to process it - from Wally to Conner.

Love this! It'd be interesting if you made a video like this on Cheshire. As an Asian-American myself I relate to Cheshire on a deeper level. It's very rare to see Vietnamese-American representation in media, let alone Vietnamese-American representation done right. The relationship between Artemis and Cheshire really does show what a lot of Asian-American sibling relationships are like. Despite, Cheshire's unconventional approach to taking care of her loved ones she always came through in the end.

Man I loved these two so much. From having opposite perspectives and home lives, to falling in love with each other. Then Wally is gone and Artemis has to move on. Honestly it's sad that this is the best version of Artemis we got. I was hoping she would be good in Stargirl, but she got shafted so much while her parents got most of the attention. I honestly hope they bring that version of Artemis back and do her justice.

Season 5 (because it will happen) would be interesting if it kept the focus on the OG Team, but Wally comes back. It's likely that he's just stuck in the Speed Force (see CW Flash for my knowledge on the speed force), and therefore may have just... exited time later than he anticipated. We know he's significantly slower than Barry and Bart (this can also be fixed after the extended exposure to the speed force), meaning he would have had to work harder to get back. The theme of the season could be dealing with his return, after they had cut their losses and mourned their friend, what his return does to the Team. How Artemis is affected, if she wants to go back and try with him again or not. Dick realizing he has his best friend back. Wally coping with the fact his friends grew up without him, and now things can't go back to the way they were. His re-integration to society, and how he (and Jason) struggle with that. (Seriously if they don't bring Jason back in Season 5 and explore the Red Masked Ninja all the batfam fans will riot) It would be a really cool thing for them to explore, and maybe this time they'll actually wrap up all their loose ends, then shift focus to the comics. because the comics are good.

After all Artemis has gone through, I almost do want Wally to come back if there's a season 5. That after she finally got the strength to grow up and move on, what happens when you get a miracle and a chance to have it back? I especially found compelling fan theories about Wally coming back evil as an extra gut punch. That after all that, now Artemis has to figure out if she's fighting the old dream, or fighting to get it back.

Great video! Once again, thank you for being one of the few people that actually GETS the reveal of fake Wally in the episode "Overwhelmed". It's Artemis's memory of Wally telling her to let go of Wally. It's more impactful that it comes from herself, rather than being the "OMG WALLY IS ALIVE" tease too many people want it to be. Unrelated, but I feel like Jade could be a great subject for her own video.

Too bad Artemis was LIED to about it and for a show that claims to about consequences to actions, when the hell the hell were Zatanna, Megan, and Raquel going to get bitten in the ass for lying/supporting the lie, you know since you believe there IS a GRAND PLAN so everything happens for a reason when/how/what ramifications was there supposed to be in the GRAND PLAN. What was therapy not a trendy enough topic for Grandon to have Artemis be in to get her to move on, so instead they have a lie that will never be brought out because (blurgh) it would mean consequences for the groomer, abuser, and abelist.

Full honesty, they cannot leave Wally as dead. One of the best/impactful stories for his character, based off the comics, has been set up 7 years ago, and it'd be a damn crime to let it go to waste. That is IF they actually decide to continue the series. I'll snap if they don't continue it, Wally DESERVED BETTER DAMN IT

I always thought he was still alive, especially since the end scene of season 2 showed a Legion ring. I figured he just got sent to the future. Then season 3 came years later & he didn't return, and no Legion heroes showed up. Then, after more years, season 4 came, and Wally was just a ghost. I still think Wally is alive in the story, but the writers just lost their spark of joy for this story.

@1993digifan7 ай бұрын
A resurrection would only be cheap if it resets their dynamics are where they left off (acting as if nothing would be different in any way), but any good writer can have a resurrection come with consequences that aren't sunshine and rainbows and aren't dealt with in the span of an episode.

The creators of YJ were idiots to not use his death to as the catalyst to how he merged with the Speed Force and became "the fastest man alive" like in the comic books.
@haruhirogrimgar60477 ай бұрын
I think it is more that they are incredibly brave for letting death like this, stick. It is only the fans that still hold hope he will come back. The characters of the show have had to accept that they lost him. They had to stumble, and cry, and learned to grow and support each other. Sometimes the hero doesn't come back. And that is okay.
@1993digifan7 ай бұрын
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 Too bad they didn't have the balls to kill off for real other characters that matter, and ones that mattered more than Wally who was nothing but an extra in S2. Really when you think about it Wally is the only thing the writers have to prove that death is serious and for really real realz since all the other deaths are one-off characters, unaligned heroes, villains, civilians, or time skipped JL aligned, all the rest of the deaths of the heroes are all fake outs over the last two seasons. So why the hell should anyone take Wally's seriously when all the ones in 3-4 had all the weight of a sheet of paper at the end of the day? Really just imagine the drama that could come from him (in any kind of mental and physical health) returning once they all moved on. Like Artie learning Plan A for her friends helping her is lying and manipulating her.

Why reveal a lie and never have it come out to the person being lied to? Is there really any other reason for the lie to exist if it doesn't have consequences later on. Really they could've EASILY had it be coma dream or part of a therapy/writing exercise to help her let go, at least it wouldn't be lie!
@KCKingdomCreateGreatTrekAgain5 ай бұрын
@@1993digifan Perhaps no one there (on that earth) even KNEW about the speed force and thus had every reason to believe he was dead. As far as the fans it would satisfy those who want him back without some hokey dream cop out or other BS. Written well the speed force idea would be a great explanation and would come off seamlessly and wouldn’t seem like a gimmick. The speed force exist in the DC universe and the DCAU so it wouldn’t be a far fetched idea.

I know you said it was an obvious thing to talk about, but I would love for Artemis’s and Jade’s relationship to be touched on. I actually almost teared up when you said Artemis’s home was Jade. The entire crock family’s dynamic was so endlessly fascinating to me when I would watch the show as a child - probably because it mirrored my own. My dad was a deadbeat and left us when I was 8 years old. My mother is schizophrenic and is handicapped because of it. And most similarly - I have an older sister who sought legal emancipation and left us when she was 16. Growing up, we had a tumultuous relationship. I was the obedient, sensitive daughter who took care of our mother and our younger half brother. She was the outspoken, abrasive one that seemed to live only to piss my mother off. I hated her for it and for leaving me to shoulder our family burdens alone. I saw myself so much in Artemis, down to her moving to take care of her sister’s baby. My sister died 2 years ago. Before dying, she had a son. I ended up adopting him and consider him my son now. Watching young justice - especially the Nguyen-crock sister’s scenes - always makes me emotional. How I wish my sister and I could’ve had the reconciliation that Jade and Artemis did.

Thanks for the vid! Enjoyed it as always :) Artemis is awesome. Not just because she's an amazing archer, but because she's snarky and empathetic and she fights so hard to be a good person and a hero despite her background. I'm often annoyed about the whole secret undercover agent arc in S2, but I totally understand where she and Nightwing and Aqualad were coming from. They thought they needed to use the enemy's tactics to win. A part of me will never truly believe Wally is dead but I admire the writers with actually committing to it. Grief is a very real problem and completely denying it by having characters time travel or resurrect to evade death can feel cheap. Also, wow, you really had to mention Brexit, didn't you? 😆 That really caught me off guard.

Well they failed the simple way to prove he's dead so by Comicbook Law think of whatever story you want that doesn't actively contradict the show and use that as a continuation. The show is unlikely to be revived again in any media so it's not like anything will disprove it and really just having him in the Speed Force or another universe where time flows at a different rate than E-16 is the perfect way to get around any timeline issues.

Lets be real here: The only way for them to let Wally come back is when it will hurt the viewers most, which would be him returning the moment Artemis has finally moved on from him. Maybe in a relationship or engaged with someone new in her life, heck, maybe even with a child on the way. THEN they will bring him back because that would be the most drama out of the situation, especially if they leave him unaged thankts to the speed force which would even distance him from his friends entirely who are all now in their late 20ies/early 30ies.
