An artesian well is how I am able to have water at my tiny house. I'm very fortunate in a variety of ways since an artesian spring is what provides my off-grid house with all the water I need. This is a gravity fed water system based on the logistics of my property.
By way of having access to electricity and having access to this artesian well, I have everything I need to function in my upstate NY based tiny house.
I welcome you to check out my KZbin channel and subscribe for other relevant tiny house content including a full tutorial of how to build your own tiny house. Please also share, like, and comment as you see fit. I make every effort I can to respond to comments and if you have specific questions or just want to say hi, please do so.

Really good sized spring

Yeah, it's been great. Never dries up. Never stops flowing. Last year in the summer it slowed up a wee bit, but never stopped delivering ample water.

Great video! The drawing was very helpful. Two questions: Why two barrels for the system and do you filter the water to drink it?
@TinyIndustrial
@TinyIndustrial 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Using more than one barrel helps filter out a bit more of the sediment (make sure you use 'food grade' barrels and not ones that mystery chemicals inside of them previously). Yes, I do actually use an inline charcoal filter before the water enters the house. As I think I mentioned in the video, I don't actually drink the water as is. It's not so much that the water is not clean enough at the point where it comes out of the ground. The issue is more that the water is still fairly easily exposed to potential contaminants before it gets to the house. I have no issue with boiling the water though and then making coffee with it. :)

I think you're confusing a spring with an artesian well. Artesian wells are drilled.
@TinyIndustrial
@TinyIndustrial 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Yes, apparently I was wrong. I was always told that that's what it was. You are correct that it was not 'drilled' as far as I can tell. Thanks for the comment.

Yes I thought the same thing, it is a spring, a well is dug or drilled. We had a spring at our farm and the water was fantastic, even to drink. You can have it tested to make sure its good.

That’s a spring not artesian well
@TinyIndustrial

Spring it is then. At least I don't think that anyone drilled it.

Great ! I was wondering if an RV-type hose (white) is better, less carcinogenic that a regular garden hose? Mrs. Smith

Yes, definitely. I would recommend using those white hoses whenever practical. Thanks for the comment!

How do you keep your pipe from freezing in the winter?
@TinyIndustrial
@TinyIndustrial Ай бұрын
The constant movement of the water keeps it from freezing. Never had a freezing issue. Inside the house is another matter but the whole water collection scenario is impervious to freezing due to movement.

You would Be in an Ideal location for A Hydraulic Ram pump but in your Case Being lower than the Spring You don't need one.

Yes, I'm lucky that gravity does all the work for me. Any kind of different scenario and I would have had to come up with a technical solution. Thankfully that was not necessary though.
