@shockwave47429 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Just what I've been saying for years. It's good that they did God Save the Queen first. Ireland's Call would have been a really hard act to follow. Especially by the song of the Land of Too Many Names, if you know what I'm saying.
@shockwave47429 жыл бұрын
***** I've heard things like that before, like, "The Queen in this song is representative of the country." Or something like that. But if that's the case there's still inequality in the language used. It's the same effect whatever route you use to get there. Besides, I would rather sing about the here and now than about century upon century of tradition that becomes meaningless if it's left unchallenged.
@TNCMAD9 жыл бұрын
***** Well, i wondered a lot why a so great people like english still likes the monarchy and i think it's in their culture. But french also loved monarchy and their monarch ( and it's still the case with their leader, they want a powerful man as the head of state ) and i think english are now, like the french in the 1700's and haven't begin their revolution yet. But when problems will come ( like France in the 1780's ), they would probably do it. By the way, the Thirteen Colonies, an english possession made their revolution when they were under a lot of taxes.
@shockwave47429 жыл бұрын
TNCMAD Of course, the British Revolution will probably take a different form than the French Revolution, given the form that the British monarchy is currently taking. They are more vestigial than tyrannical, not quite an appendix but perhaps somewhat like tonsils. Britain is a tonsilate state. There. Now I know what to call it. And their tonsilectomy will probably be quite a gruelling process, with many of the citizens going into some sort of withdrawal. I think that's why the monarchy isn't gone already. Their subjects are afraid of the withdrawal symptoms they might suffer in the monarchy's absence. And the royal family themselves will probably be at quite a loss when they have to live like citizens. We'll have to be very patient with them.
@shockwave47429 жыл бұрын
***** I admit I don't know exactly what you mean. Perhaps you are being sarcastic. I know I wouldn't go quite so far as to "exile them penniless to Madagascar". But your mention of "immigrant rape" does make me a bit nervous. What is immigrant rape?

All of the Anthems are beautiful and meaningful and touches the heart. Ireland's Call always brings tears to my eyes because of it's solemness and sadness.

I am "English" by birth but had grand parents both Catholic and Protestant from the North and the South. I lived through "The Troubles" and was in Manchester when the IRA bomb went off. The more recent nonsense over Brexit and the GFA makes me long for a United Ireland so that Irelands Call can be the anthem and I will answer it

This game is very symbolic as croke park is practically an Irish Monument and English soldiers invaded the pitch there about a hundred years ago and killed players and fans at a Gaelic football match

@georgemudayingo19445 жыл бұрын
@@freeeire564 I'm not insinuiting that's your position. I'm merely pointing out that we're waiting for an apology for the bombings that swept England too. You'll get yours when we get ours. Neither is going to happen so probably best to move on.
@freeeire5645 жыл бұрын
george mudayingo The bombings in England were in retaliation to the oppression in Northern Ireland.... they were reaction bombings. England started the trouble yet won’t recognize this and people like you just want to allow bygones to be bygones when you occupy part of our country..... no thanks, we won’t move on.

Soldiers are we whose lives are pledged to Ireland; Some have come from a land beyond the wave. Sworn to be free, No more our ancient sire land Shall shelter the despot or the slave. Tonight we man the gap of danger In Erin's cause, come woe or weal "Mid cannons" roar and rifles peal, We'll chant a soldier's song.

Respect Ireland. Lots of your forefathers helped us Boers in our fight against the English, notably one Willy John McBride, grandfather of the later Irish great Rugby player. From a Springbok fan.

I was there. I am Irish. We always welcome British people to Ireland - they are our closest neighbour and typically a good friend. Hill 16 - the massacre at Páirc an Chrócaigh - the GAA even thinking of allowing rugby at Croka. Unbelieveable - well done the GAA for allowing it, well done the English for being brave enough to turn up after the massacre, and WELL DONE to the XV Irish team who not once but twice (100% record) stood fast and never allowed an English victory on GAA ground. Happy to see England rugby have fun at Landsdowne - take a moment to appreciate what BOD, Stringer, O'Callaghan and the rest of them did for the nation at Croke Parc.
@mjcoleman7 жыл бұрын
Never beaten at Croke Parc. That was a special day for Irish rugby, the GAA, Dublin, and the nation of Ireland. Respect to England but there was no way you would be allowed to win at Hill 16. Respect, but no.

Franchement, on voit la différence. Au début, Que Dieu sauve la Reine un peu fébrile suivi des deux hymnes irlandais qui sont vraiment géniaux ! L'Irlande est vraiment une grande nation.
