You have no idea. The modder for the sailor moon Reddit left and the new modders found out how many people were actually banned, most of which were banned for no good reason. There must have been about 1,000 people! The group is being flooded with more people, art, etc. it’s really nice and it’s a very positive community 😊

The only punishment for artist who use AI as a tool in their workflow is to disclose it and be completely transparent with their work, banning them from platforms or treating them as lower class is evil. You can be disappointed with them but for the love of god just treat them as people who lost their way or something. Especially if they kept with the rules the forum has put out.

the issue is a lot of ppl pointing fingers aren’t decent artists, so they don’t understand the possible processes one could take to creating these pieces. my work is strictly digital, and i could see how someone may confuse it as ai art, but if you look closer, you’ll see that i use multiple types of brushes, which i doubt a generator would be able to comprehend.

I remember when I was on Amino when I first started digital art and was brand new to social media and the art community. One girl kept removing my work because she claimed my stuff was too sexual or suggestive. My art never showed cleavage or any NSFW. Apparently my wip drawing of a couple playing the pocky game while the guy is shirtless is a nono. I ended up blocking the girl because she was such a hypocrite. She had more suggestive art and had a bigger following than me and was better way digital art than me. So I don't understand how she could feel threatened by me or think that she had the right to remove my posts.

Every time I see false accusations like these, I just know these same people would have a field day accusing my art of being AI simply because of how I draw accessories and hair. (For accessories, especially necklaces, I get super lazy and just do whatever looks close to the general shape. For hair, I tend to get a little too into adding "volume" that it does end up with the typical AI hair strand bit of hair not really connecting or disappearing and such). But it is a shame to see legit artists (whether a name is attached or not) be accused of AI, because it just ends up doing more harm than good.

I don't get what they mean by saying "proof can be forged". There's so many ways to provide proof while knowing it isn't forged. Asking for someone's social media with a long history of art posts is probably the most full-proof method. If you see a ton more AI art, or see a ton of non-AI art from before 2023 (when the whole gen AI thing exploded), you'll know whether this particular piece is likely AI or not.

From ancient time people liked accusing without proofs, just bc, i dunno what's in their heads really. I once was accused of plagiarism of my own characters, only bc i commissioned a well-known artist to draw them in their style. I posted my characters on some social media and some one came to me and said that i copied the design from that amazing artist with a lot of followers. It was funny to watch. Then i asked if they read a description part of that art on that artist's page. They said no. I said that then they should go and read it. This person never replied me again. Bc in the description of that art it was said that it was a commission with the link to my page and link to the og design as well. People are just lazy to search for proofs, they also don't like to be wrong or feel embarrassed. That's why witch hunts like this still exist i believe, and that doesn't surprise me anymore.

The second one drives me crazy because you can literally zoom in and analyse the artists brush strokes. Like go to the gold details and zoom in. Also you can retrace each hair strand and it flows back into the main hair naturally. Literally my one and only thing is that the design is flipped for the back view but that can just be human error... like... selecting it and flipping it- Either way people have gotten so comfortable with accusing people of using AI and chasing them off of plattforms when they dont even know how to properly distinguish real work from AI

I remember watching that whole mod situation unfold and to be honest it reeking of jealousy. Anyone with eyes could see that art wasn’t Ai. The fact they didn’t even make any attempt to explain why it seemed like Ai was proof enough that they even knew it wasn’t. There wasn’t a single acknowledgment of wrongdoing, just a jealous bully mod upset with the backlash of their bullying behavior being called out.

My clients give me AI refs all the time. They can't draw, so they used ai to generate similar looks to what they want and give those to me. I always encourage them to give me photo refs if they can, and well hashed out written descriptions, but not everyone is a writer either. I may not like it, but ai is here to stay, and that is frustrating. It's good to know that people are still hiring artists despite how easy ai is to access. There is still some good left in this world.

The real reason why this is happening is simple. There is so much AI slop saturating the content space. That artists work has been recommended to me in youtube a couple of times (no shit. i am doing 3d and a fan of both sailor moon and dark souls) but i brushed it off, thinking that it is yet another AI slop. Why i did that? Guess how many "your favorite show reimagined as such version" ai slop recommendations i get every day in my feed. This is the natural outcome of this technology.

On my old reddit account i got banned from a subreddit because they said it was AI and it was just a random pen on paper doodle. Found the owner of the subreddit in twitter and messaged him. He wasnt active in the subreddit anymore but when on unbanned me and removed the mod.
