The reason why many characters in Zelda Tri Force Heroes doesn't have spiky ears is because they aren't Hylians. The game plays in a different country.

yup... based on Historia/Timeline. the WW line is the line where the cycle was broken... because OoT zelda fcked up... for those that don't know, at the end of OoT, Zelda sends link back in time to before everything went to shit... but this causes a paradox... as this timeline would still exist... however where is link in this timeline? he was sent back to the point in time that branched off from this one... so there this no link...he didn't die to be reincarnated, there just isn't a link...so when Ganon(dorf) breaks out of the scared realm, there is no one to stop him. this is actually the opening monolog at the beginning of WW people supposedly fled into the Scared Realm, and then flooded Hyrule. (i guess they just left the way open. and let the ocean pour into Hyrule) the opening monolog for WW also adds that they started dressing boys in the hero's tunic. to hopefully bring him back. this is also why WW link has to find the Tri-force of Courage, rather then just having it.

The fish in outlet island outright says you AREN'T the hero of legend, during his Convo with the King of Red Lions, only readable in the new game +, so this makes this link, who just wanted to save his sister but ended up "deleting ganondorf from the server" more worthy of the triforce of courage,

Fun fact, A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening's Link (and the Oracle Games before the retconned timeline made the Link from those games to be separate from that incarnation) is technically ambidextrous, the hand he uses for his sword and shield changes depending on if you're facing left or right. This is actually explained in the manual for ALttP as being due to a superstition about "always keeping your shield facing north, towards Death Mountain (if you can help it)". OoT does go right back to Link being straight up left-handed though.

At 2:04, those lines are a recreation of what you'd see when picking up the original game in box - there was a cut-out in the box that allowed the (gold coloured) cartridge to show through, specifically (because of where it is) the indented grippy bit. (If you've ever seen a NES cart, you know the bit I'm talking about. It's the bit where you can get a decent grip to pull it out of the system.)

IIRC, there might be an in-game justification for certain characters having more prominent ears. I'm ill right now, and so not "all there" *and* I'm grasping at a memory from when I was a kid, but I seem to recall the Link To The Past strategy guide explaining why characters had pointed ears (Hylian ancestry) *and* that it might tie into the telepathic abilities of characters like Zelda and Link (and Link's Uncle).

I believe OoT was the first time the design team asked what girls liked ir thought was cool. I think he is partially inspired in looks by Leonardo DiCaprio. I believe. I think that also inspired often having some amount of androgyny in a lot of his following designs. On the other end, at least for me, the strong masculine design of Ganondorf in TotK, I think, created unfortunate hope he would have more going on.

I BELIEVE in Link to the Past, this Zelda and Link are childhood friends. Which is why her original design looks more civilian looking. Probably her casual outfit when she goes out to meet Link. Meanwhile Link’s awakening is suppose to connect to Link to the Past. With the setting of Link’s awakening, Marin is far more the stand in for Zelda in more ways than one. As I think she is representing all the love Link has for Zelda? I think? It’s been a while, but for all intents and purposes, she is Zelda, but not THE Zelda. Also looking at her now and what Zelda is now, Marin does remind me a lot of the earlier Zelda designs.

no no... i think the ToTK Writing bugs everyone... not only is it very tropey. but the writing bends over backwards to avoid continuity to the point it created plot holes inside itself. and can't make up it's mind if it wants to play by the continuity The Sonia's Blood line... ends? but doesn't? The Tri-force is around, but never acknowledged... even indirectly The Events Clearly take place after Skyward Sword... (Master Sword Exists, and the Chimes it makes when Broken are Fi noises. The are Ruins that are copy and pasted from SS and TP) But... also seems to refute Skyward Sword. (the Zoni are from the Sky, and Hylians aren't. Sonia looks like she Predates the Hylians going into the Sky... but that would mean Ganondorf also Predates Demise's defeat... so that means Hylians changed to look like Sonia... and then back) i think most of the Community has decided that Botw and Totk are there own Continuity. specially because Echoes of Wisdom. actually fits into the "Link to the Past Timeline"
