I was waiting for code to compile on a super old shitty computer I was using, and I spent the time sharpening and organizing a bunch of colored pencils I "acquired" from high school years ago. I think I literally have enough colored pencils for a lifetime, haha.

If you remove the dividers from the drawers the plastic trays from the bigger Derwent and Faber metal boxes fit in there just nicely.

ive basically stopped using prismacolors all together. i missed working in color pencil so i broke down and splurged for a 60 set of the polychromose. they will probably arrive tomorrow. thinking of the zipper case because the tin dosent let those pretty colors mingle. i DO LOVE seeing the colors arranged in order by shades. tee hee!

This is April 2020. Just purchased the same wood box with six drawers from Walmart. Best Buy at $49.95 & free shipping. Are terrific. Had them before. If you find the drawers don’t slide out easily run hard bar of soap on the wrongs on the inside & on The bottom of each drawer. Will be able to pull the drawers in & out with ease!

Awesome!!! Thank you!! I just bought a carousel organizer for pencils but it's a bit difficult to find an exact color and if you don't fill each compartment the pencils lean all over. I'll at those boxes from Jerry's and I have enough other art supplies to fill my carousel.

I bought these exact same wood boxes.. they work great.. I bought the 4 level one.. not 2 .. 3 level I bought the US Art supply version... I'm going to line them with shelf mat to keep the pencils from sliding around.

I give a lot of demos at schools and was looking for an easier faster set up / take down method so Mom gave me a canvas shoe hanger thing that has pockets for your shoes and I think your supposed to hang it in your closet ... I hung it from my easel to hold paints, brushes, etc. all supplies I'll be using in my demos. I can shrink the easel legs down and leave it all attached and fit it in back of my car, then pull out, extend legs and voila, I'm ready to paint in front of the kids. No more packing and unpacking nightmares.

As you showed the rows of color pencils in the drawer, I had to count them to be sure i know how many pencils i can fit in each one. Counted 40....Good to know! So i know how many drawers I need.

I love these! I was about to order the less expensive one from Amazon before seeing your review - these were only a couple dollars more. Jerry's Artarama has an Amazon Storefront now, the buyer just needs to make sure they are selecting them when they go to put it in their cart and not some other distributor. I was so sick of trying to balance insert trays on my lap while searching for a certain color only to have all the pencils roll off the tray onto the floor. Thanks for sharing your review with us!

I have the same boxes as you and love them! Only thing I did was take out the foam cuz you can have 3 rows...now I cut the foam to put in the back of the pencils so they won't side all the time!

As a matter of fact I just ordered a 6 drawer wooden box from Amazon. I hope it turns out to be a good one. My first set of colored pencils was under the brand name Venus Colored Pencils when I was about ten years old. Ever since then I’ve kept my colored pencils in whatever seemed the handiest at the time, usually a couple of pasteboard cigar boxes, and we all know how tedious that can be. I be back with a comment on the drawer box after it arrives. Thank you for letting your fans know that they are usually listed as pastel boxes.

Here's a suggestion also folks. I use plano tackle boxes. The 2 I have have 4 slide out drawers. Plus the top can be used for storage. They also lock and have a handle, you can carry it around if needed.

Just ordered two boxes for myself. Walmart has them for a few dollars less and free shipping, but the ones at Jerry's were better quality wood, and only $4.95 shipping, which is not bad at all. Thank you for sharing your video, as soon as I have some time I'll check out your others. I'm a beginner who hasn't had the time to actually color anything yet (my severly disabled 90 yr old father just moved in with us so I'm a 24/7 caregiver) but I'm buying like crazy books and supplies and absorbing as much information and tips as others are willing to give.

I ordered two in October but were out of stock so I waited 2 months for them ... it was a Christmas gift which turned out perfect. Been reading the comments and seen the question about backpack travels with pencil case and pencils not staying in place... Try whip stitching a few pieces of felt together can cut to size and stack to thickness to put into drawers to cover pencils for travel... You only need to stitch the four corners...

When we get carry out Chinese food, much of it comes in plastic boxes with clear lids. I have been packing my graphite and Conte art supplies in those since I can stack them at home, but pack them in canvas bags to go to class. Another big favorite of mine are the fabric zippered bags from 10 lb Basmati rice bags. They usually have a Hindu Goddess printed on them. Hey, I'm always up for a little divine assistance!

I just happened along your video today and I had to laugh because I had been searching for at least a year for a way to store my pencils as well. I knew I wanted wooden drawers, but like you, couldn't find anything affordable or large enough. I found the pastel drawers on Blick simply by trolling through organization on their site and decided they would work for me. I got one 2 drawer set initially and once I saw that I was happy with it, I got three more. I can put all my pencils, colored, watercolor, intktense, etc. . . in them and I LOVE them! I am glad you found out about this and are sharing it with others. I have to say the ones you got at Jerry's look a little nicer than mine, but mine work fine and I am happy! Love your site and have just subscribed!

Maureen Hayes I spent so much time looking at organizing stuff from both Blick.com and Jerry's. I just never considered that these would possibly work haha. The more I use them the more I love them :D They make it so much easier to keep everything organized and to easily get to each pencil without having them scattered all over the desk :D

I don't store my stuff, I like looking at it. My tube paints are in bowls or on big serving plates, brushes, pens and pencils in cups, an old vintage tray holds all my bottles of medium....I don't want everything boxed away, I want it where I can see it!

GREAT video! I've been in the same dilemma--hunting everywhere for a colored pencil storage solution. This set looks perfect, but I have one question-if you were to rotate it vertically to place in a backpack, do the pencils get mixed up and out of order?

+Hassan Hameedi Yes they do. I ordered two ( 1-two drawer and 1- three drawer) from amazon and then realized that they were shipped by Jerry's artarama. I also ordered three from Jerry's as well. The ones I ordered from Amazon had that red stripe of paper in the middle of the box. You will enjoy them. I have already received them and they do not smell like some say they do and they are really nice looking and sturdy.

I got my drawers (2 sets) today and they are the greatest. Thanks for the Vlog on this. I put 9 prismas to the large sections and 5 in the small. That gives you 40 pencils to the drawer or 120 to the unit, that leaves you about a pencil width in each section to allow for easy movement. I am ordering 2 or 3 more for my F-C's and other pencils. Sure looks better than the PVC tubes, oh I have 3 sets of those for sell totaling 36 tubes 4" tall. But buy the drawers. Thanks Lisa !!!

Hi I am so glad to find these drawers. My question for you is: I own 130 Prisma pencils, 24 Faber Casteld, and 12 Derwent Intense pencils. In your opinion can I fit my pencils in one set of drawers? Lisa since you said that you're keeping the prismacolor set in one drawer and the polychromos in the other, the prismacolor are 150 do they fit well enough in only one of those 3 drawers box?

No, I don't think all of those will fit. I fit in around 120 (maybe it was closer to 230 of my prismas, not sure) into mine. If you removed the foam lining and the deviders you could fit more, but if it were me in your case, I would buy two boxes and just use the extra drawers for my extra colored pencils (I always have extra white and black along with a few others), erasers, graphite etc. I considered getting another just for that stuff actually lol.

I don't think it was mentioned, nor could I find the answers in the comments... but I paused the screen to count and saw that it holds 41 pencils in a single row per drawer (9 + 9 + 5 + 9 + 9), and 123 for the entire box (3 x 41) :)

have you tried holbein pencils? i have heard good things about them but they are pricier than luminances

I personally won't purchase pencils that I can not get open stock. What are we going to do when one runs out? Go buy another full set? That is not acceptable to me. The next issue I have is that the Holbein's do not have actual lightfast ratings that I can find. All they say is "Excellent light resistance". That means very pretty much nothing. If these were available open stock like most colored pencils I would suggest trying a few (assuming you were able to find any lightfast ratings at all), but that isn't really possible with those pencils. This brand has three strikes against it to me 1) Not available open stock. 2) No real lightfast ratings. 3) Grossly overpriced considering points 1 and 2.

teresa jirapornmanee you can buy a set of 12 direct from Japan if you would like to try them. I have some on order now and am waiting for them to arrive. They were £30. Expensive but want to see if I can tell the difference. As stated, difficult when wanting to replace single pencils. I read somewhere you can buy single colours but they have to be in multiples of 6.

I have several of those plastic containers with drawers like you can find in a Dollar Store. They come in different sizes and are not expensive. I have a three drawered one that is great for storing sketch books and other art supplies. And if you have a lot of storage needs, get several.
