This is actually better than some other boxes. You get a proper set, for a specific activity. You get brushes, watercolors, and a coloring book. Some boxes just have the randomest assortment of things that you can't even do anything with. I wonder what their other boxes have

The box gives a good value, but I like that there is literally everything you need to complete a watercolor painting. It would make a great gift for someone wanting to get into watercolor.

What I really like about the colouring pad is that the lines are not black. Black lines are so limiting, can't change their colour at all. And I personally don't use JUST black line art if I use line art at all. These seem to be adjusting to wat colour you but over them! Love it!

Lovely Flower 🌺 If you wet the metallic watercolours and let them sit for 1-2 minutes, you will get a creamy texture and the metallic pigments come out way better

Personally, I think it’s decent value but I think I’d like to have some other brands in there! Because it’s all their products, it’s hard to judge if they’re purposefully making the box seem more expensive because of their own high prices. But if it was a different brand, you could cross check to see if the value is there. Basically, they prevented you from doing what you did in the last video because everything is their own stuff lol

​@@MrIljuha2000Tbf it's not exclusively a shady brand thing as it's standard practice in retail including with big well-known brands, where if they make their own products they will either manufacture the same products for other brands under their own labels, or their products are themselves white-label products from a manufacturer that they have put their own branding on. Sites like Alibaba have just made it easier for individuals to create a brand with relatively low minimum order quantities compared to what a company would normally need to commit to in the past.

The contents of this box are definitely better than the other one, but I still think a good portion of what you're paying for is just their fancy cardboard box. Yes, it's pretty... but I'm not willing to spend good money on a fancy cardboard box that's just going to end up in my recycling bin. I'd MUCH rather have a simple box with more actual content in it.

Both those watercolors and tins are in their advent calendar. So far it is a really nice mix of scrapbook supplies and art supplies. The items are mostly Chrismas themed.

I was painting on the grabie calendar while listening to this~ its the only supply of theirs I've tried so far but the paper seems to be good quality. It's smooth and isn't buckling 😊

About a month ago I started getting into watercolor and bought a set of Grabie watercolors and love them. They're so much more vibrant and pigmented than the pens and colored pencils I had been using up to that point (which also were good recommended brands). The set I bought was set up in a way that it can easily be used while traveling or outside of a studio.

for me I think the box is too much money for the quality you get, I mean there are cheaper boxes where you get artist grade stuff, and you can get better quality watercolors in the same price range, same for the brushes,

Unfortunately their scrapbook supplies are temu/aliexpress/wish/amazon items sold at a premium. The company still feels very sketchy and I worry about labor violations in their manufacturing line.

I think this box is probably better than the other ones bcs it’s december and they know that a lot more people will buy it, cause it’s the holidays.. that’s just my thinking. And with that, they lure new customers in that maybe got the box as a gift.

That's kinda awesome. I'm not far enough in the video yet to know how the materials perform, but I genuinely love that they put a watercolour colouring book in there. See I _am_ creative, but when learning a new medium, I prefer to paint something already put together! It's not that I don't think my work is good enough I'd just prefer my practice goes into something a little less… permanent.

Yes! I really like the way the palettes are designed for a specific subject as well. If you primarily paint darker landscapes the autumn or forest palettes are probably a good choice. I think it’s a good choice.

i'm not a big artsy person in the sense that i feel comfortable with several art mediums and feel inspired to make something from nothing. but i think something like this art box would be a great gift to me or someone like me! there's so much to create with the coloring pages and watercolor calendar, but also so much that you can use for more out-of-the-box (see what i did there?) creations. this is such a fun idea, and i think more things like this should become gifts, either for ourselves or loved ones.

I like how all the items are themed around each other instead of just being a mismatch of random art supplies like many boxes like this that I've seen. Whenever I get a crafting kit with random things in it, I'm always like, "Okay, but what the the heck do I even do with X when I don't have Y to go with it?"

I feel the same about the Gamboge. It looks like she painted grey blobs and added yellow highlights as if it were an abstract painting. Not how gamboge should look

I agree, good value box compared to the individual item prices. I used to do that break down to any box I got until I pissed off a big creator on here with his own boxes when I pointed out that there was about $20 unaccounted for (which I did say was brand value for the collab.) Defintely got under his skin because he "disproved me" in a video by adding all the items to his cart and showing the total, but he was using the after-tax cart total. The box also has tax on top, so...

Ohhh these watercolours remind me of the very lovely Chinese set that I have!! It has 80 colours in a big metal tin, and the size of and the finish on the freshly opened paint pans, both metallic and holiday themed, is fully 1-to-1 match to my set's metallic and "solid colours"!! And it also came with a big swatches card! I can't say much for the lightfastness, as I've store my art supplies in a place away from sunlight, but the pigments on that card are still like the day I first applied them!!

I paid around £2.50 each for my mica based paints and they were just over a half pan size so that is £30 right away. I find curated boxes a little hit and miss but if you are confident with the brands quality and can see before you buy then it seems good value.

The products probably come from the same sources as the earlier box, they just bothered to pay extra for private labeling now. It makes the box seem to have better value and makes it so much harder to look up the prices.

yeah, this box is way better than the previous one, but i don't think that specific color palettes are the best choice. it would work much better if one set was metallic and the other was basic red, green, blue and so on, because there is a coloring book and a calendar. i also personally don't really like brand names on washi tape, but it's okay as long as it's doing its job, it's not a scrapbooking box

I recently received the Gravie Scrapbook Box and the November at the same time I was very happy with both the only problem & the reason I didn't continue with the subscription is because it took 1 month to arrive. I was so angry bc I keep asking whats going on why is packages no moving from NY & they had all the excuses. Anyway I love them boxes so I'll buy only occasionally. Thanks for the video!!! I think that the watercolor looks a bit moody, and I don't think it's your fault as an artist. Maybe the camera didn't made them justice. But the painting turned out really well! I loved the idea of the calendar, and I think it'll be great for a cover page in a bullet journal where you have the days already there and can customize it depending your theme.

Hullo Chloe, I am so glad you got a better experience with this box! I wish that watercolors had some pigment information, one reason why I don’t buy budget brands. Lindsay Weirich The frugal crafter recommended Art Whale watercolors, and they have been the most enjoyable to me because they do have pigment information and by all means seem to be an excellent budget brand to invest it. I’m glad this one’s better, it’s tiring only finally seeing companies do something decent as if we’re meant to be impressed. For a cheaper set of watercolours, those are pretty good, though some colours start off dull and pale so add a layer and enjoy the muted colours 🤷🏻‍♀️ They should know to add the word hue at the end of the cobalts, though, cos those are too cheap to be cobalt and that’s nowhere near cerulean, it’s far too dark. I like the colouring book the best and it does seem good for the price. I just can’t with these sets, I choose my own stuff and I don’t need to spend that much regularly.

This box is miles better than the first one you opened for sure! However, for me to consider a mystery box to be worth it, I'd expect the value of the contents of the box to be at least double what you pay for the box. That can change depending on a few things like the size of the company (is it an indie company or a larger company) or if there are items exclusive to the box. Personally speaking, I don't think the box is worth it for me.

Huh, this box was SO much better! To the point where I wonder what happened with the last box you got. Not only is all the product just so much higher value, the whole box was extremely cohesive. I'm a little annoyed at them giving you a watercolor coloring book and a completely blank calendar- why didn't they make the paper you get blank and make the *calendar* the coloring book? Since the calendar seems like something that would feel restrictive on what you could paint anyways, it just makes sense to provide premade seasonal art for that and give you regular sheets of of watercolor paper

Well,now because the first box was garbage and this box seemed nice, I feel like I have to see another 2 or 3 boxes before I can "trust" the company to do right.. That feeling of "trust" does not just apply to this company. I had a crochet monthly subscription that everyone was telling me was grand. Then the one month I purchased it was complete garbage. 3 months in a row it was utter trash. Then when I cancled it seems they went back to their original standard and now I just have a complete lack of trust in the company.
