I've never had an art "space" before!! I have filmed every video and done all of my art in my bedroom before so to have this little space is really great. It's still a work in progress as I had to remove a lot of shelves (it's actually a closet but nobody needs to know that shhh) and spent the week painting. I'd love to show you all soon!

Love your new space!! What does the round piece behind your head on the wall say? I am still working on setting my studio/guest room up. It's been months, but my plan has had to change fairly drastically multiple times during the process and I've been struggling more than usual with my health. It'll all come together eventually. Anyway, keep doing what you do and I hope we get to see a tour very soon.

We did the shaving foam in art class and we used treated paper that we made. For it to work u need to smooth out the shaving cream. Then use acrylic pant made our design. Put treated paper down then use back of a spoon to flatten the paper on the foam pulled it up let it set 1 or 2 minute then used a ruler to scrap the excess foam.😁

If you do decide to try your giant crayon idea, you can break crayons up faster by snapping peeled (paper removed) crayons in half and putting them in a thick (or use several) zip top baggies, wrap with a dish towel, place on hard floor or concrete outside, and hit with a hammer to break up the crayons. You don't want to kill them, just break them up, so short tapping motions are far better than hitting hard. If you can use somewhat large chunks, just breaking them by hand can be easier and less time chasing the bits around than trying scissors. It has been for me, anyway. I've also used a grater I got from the dollar store. I set my peeled crayons in the sun just long enough to slightly soften them, then grated them over a bowl using the grater. Good luck if you try your idea!!

My daughter and I make fall themed ones (leaf shapes) with all her old crayons (and we ask her teacher at the end of the year for any leftovers) so that she can bring a gift to all the kids on the first day. I will say that peeling them is a pain. But we do put all the same color in Ziplocs and then roll over with a rolling pin, smashing it up as we go. It's kind of fun to do multiple colors in the same compartment too - especially like yellow and orange or red and purple. Also - it definitely depends on the brand of crayon. The cheaper brands have more wax and less pigment, and the two separate in the oven. I see Chloe used Crayola - those work best in my opinion. :)

The last “art hack” is actually a way to do water marble, the way i was taught to do it was to 1.spray shaving foam in a container, ( i suggest a container bigger than the paper) 2. Use any color of ink or concentrated watercolor and pour some on top of the shaving foam 3. Use a toothpick or fork to swirl around the shaving foam to mock a water marble look 4. Stick the piece of paper onto the shaving foam, and press firmly 5. Take the paper off and scrape the shaving foam of with a pencil or anything that can scrape it off And that is all, let it spend time drying and you will end up with a water marble pattern! ( this is an extremely messy process, the ink or concentrated watercolor may stain clothing and your hands.) Good luck for anyone who tries this! 😊👍

My kids actually did the marbled shaving foam thing when they were 2 and 6, with a couple differences. We actually layered some gel food dye with the acrylic paint and shaving foam, and I used some 4x4 stretched canvases instead of paper. I let the foam sit there for about an hour and then scraped it off. It actually turned out fantastic, kind of galaxy-esque, since they used mostly pink and blue and purple shades. I haven't yet decided what to do with them (either draw a zen doodle type thing over the top or iron some holographic vinyl onto it), and I need to figure out how to protect the canvas so it doesn't fade over time, but it's really quite good. I'll be putting it on my instagram as soon as I have finished them.

I actually used the shaving cream one to design my graduation cap! I think that it works much better with food coloring as you don't get any smearing like with paint
