I mean it's cool, but it's not a functional sword. Brass is too soft, will bend easily and take a set, and it won't hold an edge very well, honestly bronze would been better as a cast sword but even that has its limitations. There's a reason why iron ore and steel was developed ubiquitously around the world for weapons while brass was used for Jewelry and furniture.

So is it still brass at this point? Since zinc would boil at the temperatures copper melts, would some of the zinc evaporate, or does it stay bonded/disolved the copper once the brass is made the first time?

While its a beautiful sword to look at but its not a strong one as the metal binding was not done at all, a strong sword blade needs molding, folding, layers upon layers with old school hammering or machines for a high end forged blade.

I loved the vid…the only problem i had was he not only displayed with the blade exposed and facing down, but he also did it in the scabbard as well…which you should never do, even if for a short while. He also displayed it on the right hand side which in Japanese lore says to display a sword to the right means you are actively at war.
