Great video. Alternative to vaseline underneath the rinse cup I've seen: Use two cups, cut one in half (horizontal), turn it upside down then put the other cup in it. It gives a better base and less likely to be knocked over.

THANK YOU!! I'm thankful to have come across your video. It's not easy to a)find a video with a "start to finish/step by step" process (which is simple but missed by so many ppl who have videos on "how to prep". Many "prep" videos only offer a verbal step by step (skipping nuances as well as safety and important tidbits). This is the only video I have now that can actually help me in my process of becoming a tattoo artist. Looking forward to this type of teaching. Thank you again

Good alternative for dental bits is aluminum foil . I start setting up my station every time with it. Also a little tip for coil lovers like me, there are machine bags that are quite usefull if you want keep your machines clean during the progress and dont clean that much later. Also you need to bag your clipcord aswell, and dont make mistake of taping the clipcord sleeve to the end of the cord itself, pierce the ends though it, only like this its really serving its purpose. Also like always great video man.

Hey man, love all your videos and you’ve taught me a lot. I’ve been tattooing on myself for about a month and getting better each time. My dilemma is that my right side is partially paralyzed due a brain tumor that led to many surgeries. So I’m still trying to find the best way I can stretch the skin. If this was 2 months ago I would of never thought I’d be tattooing. I have many myself but because of my circumstances i didn’t think that I could of been doing this Now that I am I’m not going to stop till I perfect my craft. Thanks again

Wow Jesse you my friend are an inspiration!!! Amazing to hear that you are breaking the boundaries of what you thought was possible and are pretty much tattooing one handed. Art-Something thank you man. There are no excuses in this world. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Right now I’m using what little movement I have in my shoulder to push my hand into the skin to stretch it out. I’ve thought about getting help when stretching but that help isn’t always going to be there and in those situations I’m going to need a plan when it’s only me and a client.

G’day mate! 😃🤙 Mate HUGE THANKS TO YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS! Seriously they are a fricken life saver. I had to give up on my dream to tattoo when I shipped off to FT Benning 10 years ago and I just had a huge drive to do something that I love and makes me happy, and when I picked up a tattoo machine I honestly felt the happiest that I’ve been in a long time due to my major depression. But hit a huge wall when I started begging all the local shops for an apprenticeship. I either got “you’re to old to learn tattooing, no one will let you practice on them like they would if they were in high school”. And yes the obvious racial differences when they see that I’m part African American. You’re videos literally gave me a lot of hope. Thank you bro, keep making videos mate because I have my bell on! Really appreciate the new upload, been learning so much form you! I do have a couple simple questions and i apologize if its been answered already but 1. I know to use distilled water for my greensoap mixture, but what is the plain bottle of distilled water used for? 2. Is there a specific reason you use Cavicide instead of isopropyl alcohol to clean your station? My guess is its maybe to harsh of a product to use over and over on your supplies? It depends, cartridge machines can often be cleaned very well with cavicide or a similar cleaner because it is less likely for bodily fluids to pool inside the machine. If you are using metal tubes and grips with standard needles they should probably be autoclaves because it is very difficult to ensure all the fluids have been cleaned inside. IMO it is better to autoclave whenever you can but sometimes that just isn’t an option.

What's the best method of cleaning and storing the squirt bottles after the tattoo is done? Thanks love your videos.

since I have a nursing background and am trained in hygiene, I would advise you to use surface disinfectant wipes instead of spray disinfection. On the one hand, they are safer to handle, more hygienic and have the right effective concentration. 1 cloth to disinfect the tattoo machine, 1x to disinfect the accessories such as bottles and co, 1 cloth to disinfect the workplace and 2-3 cloths to disinfect everything else such as couches etc. that could have come into contact with the customer or is. Don't forget to change gloves. I use Meliseprol from Braun, for example, I don't need 2 different disinfectants, I have one for everything that is gentle on the material. A lot has happened in hygiene on the subject of distilled water, at least here in Germany. We were instructed to stop using distilled water, neither in care nor in tattoo studios. The background why is that water tips over after 24 hours and germs and bacteria start to build up in it to be cost effective we were advised to use small bottles of still water from the supermarket which is just as good as distilled and cheaper.

So you touched the red needle bin with the gloves you just tattooed with and put it aside? Also just to be 100% sure, when the client comes you put the stencil on while wearing the gloves then you dispose of the gloves, get a new pair and pour the ink in the cups right?

Im about to start practicing in fake skin and i really enjoy your videos. I seen a video where you say distilled water to rinse the needle when using different colors. Ahhh so my question is do you just dip it and thats it???

Still wondering how u guys adjust your stroke and depth with the machine all wrapped up. Seems like I have to do a half-full rotation on my rotary machine to adjust depth between needles. But with it all wrapped up, it binds and becomes a pain. Thoughts?

I wrap mime with a clip cord cover but I leave enough of the plastic in the middle to be able to twist my machine once around to adjust needle throw
@leviburns894 жыл бұрын
@@punkrockdruidess thanks for the feedback Liz!!! I still have one massive concern though.... Cross-Contamination from the cart tips. The grips on our machines are autoclavable, but the needle carts touch the machine housing and even the piston that drives the needle comes into contact with the cartridge. So basically, anytime you switch cartridges in a machine during a peice, there is a 100% cross-contam that cannot be cleaned because the motor and housing cannot be autoclave. The membranes in the cart only protect from the insides of the cart leaking backwards, the moment you touch or bump or remove a cart, its garbage, in the eyes of health officials.
@leviburns894 жыл бұрын
I've learned my way thru this - buy quality needles with membranes, only grab the cartridge from the exposed end. In truth, with proper sanitation during cleanup this is no longer an issue as you are soaking the grip/housing in cavicide (i use opti-max), as well as doing a thorough clean with the cavicide of the machine assembly. Now the trick is re-lubing the parts before putting it back together.

So the two squeeze bottles. One is the green soap mix and the other is just distilled water?

Do you need an autoclave to disinfect the grip of the pen or do you just use the wipes? I am having a hard time finding disposable sterile grips for the cnc q2 your videos inspired me to start tattooing! I want to make sure I’m being safe and clean as possible!

Hi Dave, this video somewhat answered a question that's been plaguing me. I'm looking to purchase a pen style machine, and have been somewhat limited in my selection due to concerns about grips. Many folks say that if you're not autoclaving the grip, you should use a disposable one. This steered me away from buying a CNC machine as there aren't any disposable grips available for them. I was wondering if you had your own autoclave, but I see now you just disinfect your grip with cavacide. Have you ever had any issues with clients reporting infections? I'm on a similar path to becoming a tattoo artist as yourself, and just want to be as safe as possible. Cheers, thanks.

Excellent videos. I've been binge watching them. When it comes to spray bottles, I use a new one for each client. The method you are using has too much potential to be contaminated. I used to cover my bottles the same way, but realized this potential hazard, and figured it would be best to just dispose of them after each client. btw... have you made the vid for the RCA conversion for the cheyenne pen? Thanks again, you rock!
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
That seems like it would get pretty expensive using a new bottle for every client. But I guess you can’t put a price on cleanliness. And no I still have not made the RCA conversion for the Chyanne pen. Sooner or later I’ll make that video👍👍 thanks for watching Z Awad appreciate the support🤘
