I am so happy I discovered your videos, I do very similar rides through the mountains of Colorado, my Guzzi is much newer then yours, I still very much enjoy the sound and how well it rides. Keep up the great videos. 👍🏻

Thanks for another backroads easy riding video Nick. I'm pretty sure that I met you on the road at Perth Road Village a couple of weeks ago as you were heading north, mid-morning. I was headed south, not on my Harley but in my old Miata, for a couple of days sailing on Lake Ontario. A couple of days of beautiful weather for outdoor adventures of all kinds. Keep the shiny side up!

I'll keep an eye out for older Miatas from now on. It probably was me 😀

Enjoyed the video Nick. Nice weather you're having. The Eldorado sounds strong. Went for a short ride to town to the hardware store this morning. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE NICK.

Thanks mate. I don't want to get hooked into feeding the maw and try to only post stuff I think others will find interesting - hence the erratic posting schedule.

"Just plonking along" - There's a lot to be said for it, especially when the traffic is scarce.

Good Day Nick. Glad you were able to get out on such a great day. Missed you in Westport this time, I was out to Calaboogie for lunch at the bistro. Waba Road (#20) is being rebuilt. One way traffic in places. A good crowd in Calaboogie. 3/4 bikers of one kind or another. After lunch I headed out Black Donald / Centennial Lake Rd. Surprisingly, I had it pretty much to myself. Although it’s also being torn up near B. D. Lake. Up here the first hint of Fall colours can be seen at the roadside. The old Guzzi sounded great to me.

beaufitul sound! Mistral mufflers?

Well spotted. Mistrals with generic baffles. They were too loud before.

i have been thinking about the sound of your bike, compared to mine(2006 1100 california). Despite being a heavier, bigger, faster, more powerful bike both in hp and torque. The newer bike does not sound as deep, thumpy and torque as yours. I did some diggging and discovered the flywheel on the eldorado 850 is almost 2 kilos heavier than on the 1100 cali. I am not sure if that is the main reason why older guzzis might feel and sound like they have more soul. But I think it might mean that your bike would certainly be more thumpy and pull more at lower rpms. Which might be why they relax the rider more?

You may well be right. Probably heavier pistons, lazier cams, bigger valves. I remember when I got my 2000 Quota, I was shocked by how different it felt. I had assumed that apart from the square fins, it would be more or less the same. The old Loops are definitely more tractor-like than the more recent models. The CARC bikes (such as the Breva 1100 I had for a while) are vastly different again - much more powerful and smooth - a different feel altogether.

@@nick949eldoI think the 1100 calis would be closer to the older guzzis in feel, compared to the breva 1100. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on a 1100 cali, I love mine but I cant help but wonder what an older guzzi is like ;)
@nick949eldo Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I only rode a Cali 1100 briefly once, and didn't get on with the riding position. It was still a notch or two more modern than the older bikes. Go to a rally - see if you can find someone that will let you take their bike for a spin. It's the only way to be able to compare.@@slash502

ps sorry to say this, but sound really poor on this. Exhaust too loud/voice really quiet. Could you poss fix and repost as I love your stuff?

Sorry, I did my best with the recorded sound but it was crap. I'll do better next time.
