I was feeding my cows and suddenly slowed down because I was overwhelmed with thoughts of a guy I'm into. It's very obsessive as far as the thought and arousal go. I’d like to point out you can develop unhealthy porn/arousal issues without going as far as it being a disorder. Just so people know that if they have a habit getting out of control but having a whole disorder still seems far away doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still work to keep your habits in check. So you don’t necessarily have a disorder, but knowing that shouldn’t stop you from working on controlling an unhealthy habit. Try masturbating without watching porn, try skipping a day when you can, when you do, it’ll be better anyway and it won’t interfere with your normal sexual functioning.
@toddianuzzi92962 жыл бұрын
Porn is destructive agreed
@marieso22932 жыл бұрын
Also, to know the difference between an unhealthy and healthy habit isn't necessarily about the habit itself (since anything can become unhealthy in excess, even exercise). People just need to look if it is preventing them from living their daily lives. Are they looking at porn for an entire hour instead of getting their work done? Do they feel like they need to get off in the morning before they can even start their day which takes too long and causes them to be late for work? It's very different from just looking at porn for 5 minutes. Or doing the deed only on their free time. Just be self-aware.

Yes, that is how a disorder would be defined. It's worth mentioning that the individual might not be aware of how their behaviour affects their life... Many people w/ personality disorders, eating disorders, or substance use disorders believe their behaviour is acceptable. That doesn't make it any less of a disorder. It's definitely a tricky situation. As far as increased libido, as long as no laws are being broken to satisfy one's desires & the individual isn't [purposefully or unintentionally] harming themselves or others in the pursuit of pleasure, it's innocuous IMO. Just a matter of variation between individuals.

If you read any anecdotal reports from someone who has hypersexuality they make it clear that it interferes with their life, especially when they're associating with their gender of attraction.
@paranoidrodent2 жыл бұрын
The issue isn't so much just being horny so much as being horny to such an excessive degree that it it causes your distress, negatively impacts the rest of your life and impairs your sense of control. Basically, when being horny takes over your life and becomes mostly harmful rather than fun is when it crosses over into being a disorder.

I saw someone else bring it up, and I wanted to say something too. I'm curious if there's a connection to hypersexuality and ADHD because of the dopamine deficiency. I've been looking into ADHD and dopamine a lot lately, it's extremely interesting how many things this affects.

I struggle with hypersexuality but I’d be really interested to see how it interlinks with my mental illnesses and neurodivergency but also along with my endocrine system as I suffer with also diabetes and chronic hives/allergic reactions. It’s also really interesting as someone who used to identify as asexual. Maybe an FMRI study along with blood draws at specific moments. Anyway for me my hypersexuality causes a lot of pain as my sexual organs swell for days and hours on end. I’m not necessarily desiring anyone or anything or engaging in watching arousing material so it can be tough. Pretty much nothing helps until it passes by itself.

I think a big oversight in this video is not talking about how most people end up with hypersexuality disorder and it’s because of trauma. I have C-PTSD abd as a result of NON CONSENSUAL ASSAULT many times I have developed hypersexuality disorder. Love you and the video I just wish you had talked about how it’s linked to trauma often
@-Roche- Жыл бұрын
It's actually not often related to trauma, it's only related sometimes. Most people with hypersexuality disorder don't have it due to trauma, they just have it as a result of genetics or an overconsumption of sexual material (genuine sexual intimacy or porn). But there still hasn't been enough research to conclusively say what the exact cause of hypersexuality disorder is.
