Heh. Ah, Bayleef... Ash's most adorable Pokémon ever... Her crush was annoying at first, but, once she evolved and learned to control her emotions, she became a likable character, and her crush... We didn't mind it. Any interactions they had, especially their reunions, were always adorable and some of the best in the series. Her battles were good, too, especially against Chuck, Houndoom, and Delaney's Poliwrath. I wish, though, she would have returned to battle/interact in later moments like the Battle Arena and even the Veilstone City Arc in Sinnoh. I could have seen her and Maylene's Lucario interacting, given her and Lucario's similar struggles with their trainer's understandings... I think their interaction and personalities would have been cool to see meet. Overall, Bayleef was a great and memorable character, whose love for Ash will never be forgotten... And we don't mind that. 😄

Bayleef has got to be one of the most underrated Ash mons. She's not the strongest battler, but her personality was one of the strongest of an of his mons and was hands down one of the funniest. She was the standout on Ash's Johto team And is the reason the Chikorita line are my favorite Pokemon to this day

When I was a kid chikorita was my favorite pokemon so I was disappointed when she evolved, but now as an adult I wish she went all the way! Definitely one of Ash's most underrated pokemon, her arc was great and having her as Ash's ace as a meganium could have greatly improved meganiums reputation

The main reason why sceptile is Ash best grass type pokémon is because he beat darkcry when I seen that I was like oh my God Tobias was already cheating coming the competition with legendaries and he bet everybody in the whole competition with just that one pokémon we didn't get to see that second pokémon until Ash secptile beat dark cry and then ash Pikachu lost to that latios that was a cheating ass competition

It was cute how when Ash visited his Pokemon at Oak's place, Bayleef was always at the front of the pack. Even as a Chikorita, she developed a clear attachment to him. I wasn't a fan of that Johto episode where Ash basically told it to go away. Pretty out of character for him.

For me personally, Bayleef was one of Ash's most memorable Pokemon in the Johto Journeys arc. Although she never got to become the ace of Ash's Johto team, I'm honestly fine with that, mostly because that arc of the series had a mixture of all the Pokemon Ash caught up until that point, and even then, she still arguably got more attention than the rest of his Johto team. My biggest disappointment is that she never got to evolve into a Meganium, mostly because in hindsight, at least one of the starter Pokemon Ash catches each region tends to fully evolve; having said that, I think that the main reason why she never got to reach her final stage as a Meganium is because of one simple reason: it would have made her too girly of a Pokemon for Ash to own, especially in a series that's arguably more marketed towards boys than girls. That isn't to say she was the only notable female Pokemon Ash ever owned, as we also have Unfezant, Snivy, and Dragonite off the top of my head, but those Pokemon are also notably much more gender neutral than Bayleef, and by extension, Meganium are, and Ash has also never been the type to prefer more girly and feminine Pokemon, either. That being said, Bayleef was still one of the most consistently cute and adorable Pokemon Ash ever owned, and despite never getting to be a "true" ace on his team, her feats in my opinion arguably make her the closest to having earned that title overall, especially with how frequently she got to appear and she had some pretty impressive wins as well

Also, I do agree with you that Bayleef could have evolved into Meganium to help out Sceptile... It seemed like the writers were hinting at it, too... Bayleef met Ash with a Nurse Joy in a wild reserve area... Evolved to protect someone she cared about... Had a bonding episode soon after... And won the next badge/symbol Ash had... And even Bayleef and Sceptile's bonding episodes with Ash were similar... Chased by Beedrill... A Pokémon goes down a running stream... And helped by a elderly person... The clues were there... Let's not forget who owned the Meganium Sceptile got a crush on...😊

One of my favorite ash Pokémon from johto! The I happen to like the chikirita line, though it may not be the best starter choice but it still is a good traveling companions like in the heart gold & soul silver games, it walks around with you and ash’s bayleaf is a good example, I also like how Bayleaf was able to do well in battle pleasing her so called dream boy ash (if you know what I mean?) was her motivation in battle I imagine her getting jealous of the other pokegirls if ash were to go on a date with one of his female traveling companions, also people like paul and Burgundy would disapprove ash’s bayleaf for simping on ash bayleaf tacking ash makes her like a 31st Tauros which I think was funny and adorable, and I love ash’s interactions with his bayleaf, it would be interesting if bayleaf would evolve and would could make a powerful battler but I think bayleaf wants to stay as a bayleaf and if she were a meganium she would probably crush as to death if she tackled him, lastly I think bayleaf had more focus than any of ash’s other johto Pokémon and all need more development and that’s what brought ash’s johto team other than the fact he relied on his older Pokémon at the time while he was in johto.

Some of my favourite moments of Bayleef are her dominant victory over Chuck and her win in the Extreme Pokemon race against Gary and his Arcanine. It's really unfortunate that she didn't battle at all after the Johto series, a battle or two in the Battle Frontier or in the Sinnoh league would have been perfect. Also, I've never thought about it, but a relationship with Sceptile would've been a funny growth of character and it would cement the Chikorita line as Sceptile's type lol.

Personally, I found watching Bayleef grow in both power and maturity one of the most appealing things to see in the Johto Saga. I also find it's affection for Ash very much endearing to the point where I consider it one of the most noticeable precense amongst Ash's reserves. I also wish she had evolved, but my brother despises Meganium and thinks Bayleef is better off as she is.

Ash was such a jerk in “Turning Over A New Bayleaf”. I felt like Bayleaf giving Sh the cold shoulder throughout the episode was well deserved after Ash was being a Paul lie jerk to his own Pokémon. You’d expect this cruel behavior from Paul but not Ash.

Imo Johto team is easily the most underrated. Their underevolved but almost all of them have sleeper builds. 😂

Chikorita and it's evolutions are genuinely very cute and adorable in my opinion, so it's not like they're unlikable. The problem has more to do with the fact that they're very well-known to not be good choices to pick for an in-game playthrough of the games where they are starter Pokemon in, and that, unfortunately tends to color people's perception of this line pretty negatively
