Universal tree shouldn't have damage modifying talents. Modifying your skills to use less stamina, larger dodge distance, increased spring speed, disarm on successful parry etc. is fine IMO. If you add something like ''add X fire damage on successful X'' takes away from already fragile class identity.

I can see that perspective for sure 🤔 I think one is fine, but too many and it gets whacky. I’d be fine with none tho just to keep each passive on level playing fields with each other

Reposte can't be performed by a shield. Its a parry that you turn into attack of opportunity in fencing. Edit: Not saying its bad idea, its just doesn't fit shield tree, but more of any blade or even halberd or spear. It could be reactionary skill after saucerful parry. Like a quick jab on your opponent. That skill would fit Duelist, ngl. Especially if you use rapier.

Oh yeah this is a good point. It's like parry - you'd use it with a dueling weapon, not sword & shield.

Yea I could see that. The reason I’m used to saying that is the Elden Ring in me. Parrying with a shield then going into a riposte with your offhand weapon… not the actual shield. Would be sick mayhaps for daggers or a spear indeed 🤔

@@Nyce-Gaming Riposte is all about deflecting and stabbing, so it can cover so many weapons in our repertoire. You can do it with two handed weapon too. Perfect for an ability that becomes active after successful parry. Now imagine entire class that focuses on parry rating to punish melee players in PvP, but its weak to spellcasters. Duelist would be perfect for that role 👀

I have great inspiration from SF6's drive gauge, for a universal stamina gauge with depth. 6 segments of stamina. 1 bar to dash, 2 bars for invincible frames(roll or parry esq), 3 bars to cc break. Generic blocking drains % based on damage. If you lose all stamina you go into a desperation state, the bar auto refills over 18seconds accelerating if the player can do damage. You take 10% more damage and are cc'd 10% longer in desperation. Id add more juicy ideas on spending stamina bars and the economics of this gauge but that's for the devs.

Adding specific magical damage shouldn't have a place in universal skill. It should be governed by your secondary augment. You mentioned adding holy aura when you are under 25%-Hell no. That should be Cleric augment exclusive. If you just excluded that ''holy' part it would have been fine.

Yea it doesn’t have to be ‘holy’ can literally be anything or nothing. An aura, barrier, or just action by the character. Not too concerned about the numerical or aesthetic parts

Add a Heavy Attack as a universal skill so every class can use any weapon for DPS. That'd be dope. I mean, if you can do acrobatics you can definitely whack someone hard with a staff.

I want to be able to make a build that inflicts like 5 different status effects on the enemy when you perfect block. *dazed, disarmed, bleeding, slowed* - Enemy throws up in their mouth.

Universal skill tree will need to be impactful, given that each point spent there takes a point from primary skill tree. In any case, I'd want to be able to simply 'do' each of the three: dodge, block, sprint - at the least. Development of UST may have been one of reasons for the A2 delay, as Steven said more info by mid to late summer, but nothing yet in late August. I expect only a modest first try for A2.

@nyce-gaming from what you have seen have you noticed any archetypes that seem to be getting heavy DoT builds? I think small scale pvp especially where no healers are present a DoT build that is highly mobile is going to surprise ppl early game. Id like a class that can apply 4-6 dots with like one somewhat spamable heavy shot. DoT’s are definitely something i think will be slept on early on. I can see ppl entering a fight relaxed with little fear until all the DoT’s are applyed and the big hits start coming in and they go into panic mode lol I use to like to run aoe dot builds in ESO group pvp because it softened up multiple targets until all the good sets got nerfed.

Some of them do. Hopefully this one looks better in its Kaelar version, because they curved the front of that jousting helmet, which doesn't make sense at all because you wouldn't be able to see shit infront of you XD They can't simply copy/paste the frog-mouth helmet. They had to fuck it up first.

I like the ideas my only problem is with rng skills. Whatever direction Ashes goes i would much rather see +1, +2, +3 progression over 10% chance, 20% chance, 30% chance progression. Nothing worse than losing because your 30% chance skill or passive never procs and theirs procs 10 times in a row

Yea that’s where cooldowns in some procs come into play. RNG is just one of those prominent things in tab focused combat systems but I do agree there’s ways to limit this. Feels bad losing to bad luck lol
