Just saw them last night in Calgary Alberta (1 hour east of the Canadian Rockies and the 3rd of only 4 Canadian shows) in our NHL hockey arena. Phenomenal show and all bands sounded great. The crowd got super hyped especially with Kerry King doing Reign in Blood and black magic. Also, at least here, the crowd really were into Mastodon and actually lots of moshing to them and of course LoG blew the roof off. Definitely a different experience in an air conditioned arena vs outside in sweltering heat.

I was there I'm in the video a few times and I remember seeing you because the Waynes World hat got a chuckle out of me... I saw Mastodon on the Leviathan tour so I'm a long time fan and hearing that album played in full was awesome for me even on the Leviathan tour they played all the songs except for one and Joseph Merrick only played through the speakers after the show was over so it was cool hearing the whole album and for me it's up there with Blood Mountain as my favorite from them...And yes It was brutally hot out that day I drank shitloads of water and still ended up getting leg cramps in the middle of the night ha.

Went to the opening night (in a comfortably indoor theater). 24th Mastodon show and 20th LOG show. Leviathan IS my ultimate Mastodon album so an absolutely treat. It's very different music than LOG so the difference in crowd response is to be expected. I loved that I could just take in the entire Mastodon set as opposed to LOG where I had to fight people trying to get my rail spot. Fly to Chicago for the 1st Kerry King show so it was cool to see the band now knowing the album. Seeing the tour again next month at Red Rocks which should be pretty mind blowing.

I was at this one. I remember buying both of these records in 2004 and have been a big fan of both bands throughout the years. It was a huge nostalgia trip to hear both these records played live for me. Incredible show! Hearts Alive was a journey! Have seen Mastodon live a number of times and have not heard that one live.

My son and I did the Houston show on Sunday. Luckily, ours was an indoor venue! Really liked the Kerry King set, and yeah I thrashed around a bit for Raining Blood / Black Magic. Mastodon was good but to my ears they were not the same energy as LoG, who were on fire as usual. I really liked the instrumental title track towards the end...some great visuals behind the band to accompany that song. BTW did you see Mastodon's "Eddie" walk on the stage, or were you busy getting tater tots then??

Our show was outdoors on a Wednesday so it had a curfew and was earlier than normal. I think it was around 8:40 p.m.

Malevolence was great but when the frontman commanded more crowd surfers he really tested my patience. I'm 5'3" with small hands near the front. I don't need full size men landing on me. Not only that but two little kids were next to me and I was really worried for their safety. A great show overall but I had to leave during Lamb of God cuz of work.

Well yeah, a 55 minute prog-sludge concept album based on Moby Dick isn't optimally experienced in a sweltering parking lot in Florida. I'll take the band that continues to evolve and experiment over the band that ran out of ideas 15 years ago, but different strokes for different folks. Glad you survived the summer of fun!

Have you ever been to Psycho Vegas (before it evaporated)? August in the desert, but the only outdoor venue was poolside and always three stages indoors at Hard Rock, Mandalay or Resorts World. I miss it!
