Do you have any videos on Tension and Release? I always get tripped up on which notes to use. They say to avoid the root in the Tension part of a song like the build but I really don't know what that means in a musical way so it works. Like for both the chord progression and the melody. Like I understand the elements that go into building. Just which notes to use to get me there for both the chord progression and melody and from build to drop or verse to chorus. So it's cohesive together. I tent to write music in blocks that don't really work together where each can be it's own song as appose to taking one main idea and turning it into one song without using just one repetitive chord progression. I don't seem to understand how to write a song. I can write a good chord progression with a melody over it but I'm unable to break out of the 8 bar Loop.

As for artists for you to break down, in my eyes Ben Walter is the melodic dubstep goat and I'd love to learn how he does his stuff. @ashFB2B2 ай бұрын
nothing wrong with not knowing music theory but just remember that theory is just a way to describe whats happening in music instead of being a set of rules. not knowing music theory is like going to japan but not being able to speak japanese, sure you can probably find your way around, communicate basic things and still have a great time but think about how different the experience would be if you knew the language
