Hi friends! I hope you enjoyed this vlog and it brought you some peace today 🤍 Which do you prefer: watercolor or oil paintings? I've been doing both now and I love different things about each one. My heart belongs to oil paintings for sure but it's nice to change things up from time to time and try something different like watercolors or colored pencils. Or even mix those 2 together. Have you tried mixing watercolors with colored pencils? PS: loved the video and your art approach - you're doing great!

I'm just getting back into art but watercolor seems to be the hardest as it's so easy to mess up, whereas oil always looks like you intended it to be that way, lol. I just love the fact that you now have one of your beloved places captured in your home! The cloud and color palette give me instant serenity!!

That painting looks fantastic where it is! I love that it's not just a pastoral landscape, but one that has specific meaning and emotional context for you. And to answer your question, I definitely like the oil paintings best, as that's a medium I'm just getting started in myself and it helps me to see other people working in it. I am always amazed at what other people can create with watercolors, but they're probably my least favorite medium ever. That said, I'm here for the calm, grounded passion with which you pursue your journey. I love that you embody a type of passion that pushes for ever better work without the need for grueling punishment that I think most of our culture tries to pressure us into. I really believe spending more of my time intentionally "consuming" media that promotes this image of passion helps counter the cultural narrative that gets shoved down my throat everywhere else. I thank you for this. So long answer short: I have a slight preference for oils, but I'm here for what you're dishing, even if that's watercolors.

Thanks so much Zeph! I really enjoyed painting this one and I think it was because I had that emotional connection with the scene. I definitely prefer oils too! Watercolors are much more difficult for me haha, but I'm enjoying practicing with them. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying my videos. Ashleigh I love your work and you inspire me a lot I would like go a comment regarding the final framing of your beautiful painting, it could be an alternative that you place the final framing on the painting and not below it, that way you can give it a proportion that corresponds to the painting and take care that the details of the cut of the paper are not noticeable.
