I hope Southgate is watching. Foden needs to start centrally. Such a threat at the edge of the box. Bellingham from deep sounds great. Big strong presence alongside Rice. Tough to push off the ball and a strong runner with the ball at feet. The only swap I’d make to Young’s outfit is Saka switched onto the left and palmer onto the right.

​@@tayzk5929 England have to take Grealish. Not necessarily to play (although I have faith that he can play a part in the tournament), but more importantly his cameos get the ladies wet and engaged. Plus he's a bit of a legend with his personality and rapport with the fans. With Rashford out, and Foden looking like playing alongside Rice and Bellingham, he should be on the plane as an option on the left. But as the original comment stated. Gordon should start over Grealish. Agreed. But both might make way so that Palmer can start. The fact that the team almost picks itself, apart from LW (and the third CM spot should Foden start on the left) says a lot about England's chances. Lots of options, no matter who makes the final cut. Fully expect both Gordon and Grealish to be on the plane, but wouldn't be surprised if neither we're a guaranteed starter. Palmer will be pushing for a starting spot and a midfield of Rice, Bellingham, Palmer, Foden, Saka would he insane. It's going to be an interesting summer for sure!!

With the players Gareth has picked, we have to play 3-2-4-1 Pickford Walker. Maguire. Stones Trent/Gallagher/Mainoo Rice Saka. Jude. Foden. Palmer Kane The 4 can be fluid and interchangeable. Kane will drop deep so we'll get Bellingham and Foden running into forward spaces. Saka, Palmer, Trent, Walker and Gallagher can provide width when needed

That midfield isn't effective against better opponents.. Declan will be exposed, you need extra holding midfield player.. Jude is a forward, he struggles in midfield.. I don't know who to be precise previously it used to be henderson or Philips... That means no grealish, foden switching to the wing

This Bellingham is a forward thing is nonsense and a recency bias cos of the Madrid role he’s playing and the same reason the “golden generation” had a midfield problem. He was a box-to-box 8 before the switch to Madrid and he’s perfectly capable of playing in a double pivot with Rice cos Foden is a better 10. As good as Bellingham is in a 10, I’d rather play him deeper, than move Foden who is arguably the best 10 right now out wide just to accommodate someone who only started playing there this season but has a strong record as a CM. I’d rather that and you can have Grealish, Maddison, Gordon and Eze battle out for that left side, Palmer can backup saka as well as Foden and Maddison and Eze can be part of that 10 backup and then you can have Mainoo, Gallagher and Trent as the double pivot backups

@@humphreymugeni4542 lol it doesn’t matter where they placed him 😂 and he was never playing as a 10, they used to play a midfield 3 with 2 8s and a holding midfielder so now that Phillips and Henderson aren’t in the squad, there’s space to make a change and with so many people that can play in a 10 role, we can predict Southgate will be moving away from a 3 with one holding to a double pivot and a 10 and with this change in mind, Jude was one of the 2 8s so why can’t he continue being an 8 alongside a more defensive Rice when you have a Foden and Palmer who are definitely better 10s than him when it comes to unlocking defences. Doesn’t mean he can’t still get forward but he also has the discipline to sit if England are under pressure. We’re acting as if every midfielder is one dimensional. Jude is a Swiss Army knife for lack of a batter analogy who can do what’s required for the success of the team and it’s not like he won’t be able to impact the game from deep anyways.
