2:47 I'm glad you explained this, I done my CBT the other day and passed.. but I came to a roundabout near Aintree and slowed on the approach, I seen the car approaching the roundabout with a left indicator so continued on as I thought they were turning left first exit. My instructor who overall was quite nice got agitated at me for it even though I felt like I was in the right. Ultimately was a great example on why defensive riding is important for bikers.

I am living in Poland and we don't have such rondabouts here. First I thought this is a nigthmare, but now I can see that they really make sense and make traffic smoother. Of course if people know how to drive on them. :) Great video, thanks, Ashley!
@buses76756 жыл бұрын
Really good video that! I drive buses around that a fair bit and the way you've done it is how I take the bus around usually so good to know I'm doing it correctly. One point to be aware of (from the perspective of a bus driver) is that stop on the roundabout itself and that when buses on route 17 even though they are turning right (from Townsend Avenueonto Utting Avenue towards Asda) we have to be in the left hand lane at that point to serve the stop.

Ive been advised by my instructor (who works for Ashley neal) that when want to take second exit at second round about you approach the first randabout in the right hand lane and then exit the first round about in the same lane and then the second roundabout as normal using mirror/signal/maneuver

😂 👍🏾 Actually, the magic roundabout isn’t that bad to manoeuvre around. It’s daunting if you’re a relatively new driver, or unfamiliar with it. I’ve never had any problems there.

What do you think regarding taking students on the motorway? Amazing drone footage by the way.
@ashley_neal6 жыл бұрын
Taking students on the Motorway shouldn’t be a problem for instructors as long as the pupils are good enough. It’s something that instructors do on a regular basis with newly qualified drivers. Thanks for watching and your comments. Ashley

Australia has had this law for quite a few many years, our Learners and Provisional drivers are limited to 100kph (60mph) and it's essential that they learn this because it's one of the freedoms of travelling, moving at high speed on a motorway. my instructor had me get up to speed safely, adjust to the flow of traffic and merge on safely, it is far better to put learners in a stressful environment with a qualified supervising instructor than to have them attempt to get on the motorway without training which can lead to rear end collisions. While I was displaying my P plates, I have had idiots overtake me using the no mans land before the solid lines turned into broken, once I was legally permitted to take off my P plates the drivers attitudes changed. So I don't feel that the learners or student drivers will be a major issue it is the "fully qualified" drivers that seem to make the most "mistakes" especially on the motorway the best way to iron out those mistakes is to educate the next generation on how to drive in as many situations as practical in as safe as the situation allows.

Visiting home again after a year away, and I always come back to this channel and this video in particular for a refresher. I'm going to try to use roundabout signs to navigate instead of relying on GPS and I can't help but notice this junction doesn't seem to be signposted at all unless you're taking Townsend A580 straight through, following signs for the M57 to St Helens. The other spurs are not labelled on the sign and I didn't see signs on the other entrances to the junction. Is it vandalism, or just the same reason the centre line is imaginary - a lack of city council funding for north Liverpool?

Beautiful and very useful video. Now i undarstend how to cross, double roundabout.Thank you for the video!!! I fail 2 days a go with 0 minors, on the way back to the Test Center, 5min before finishing my test. I fail beacuse one motorbike swing from back of the buss front of my car 😣 and the Examinator he break, before me less then a second. Motorbikes with L plates they cause lot of problems on the road, cos they don’t know the Driveway Code. London full with L plates motorbikes, wich they drive so bad and are very dangeourse on the road. DVLA should stop all this trouble makers. My opinion is, If they want to drive they should pass the theory test, FIRST.
@seblewis62756 жыл бұрын
The trickiest would probably be from the exit on the bottom left (of screen), turn right, under the brige, ahead (2nd exit) and take the immediate 1st road on the right (bottom right of screen).

While going from Townsend to utting avenue do we need to use right indicator after the first exit ??Townsend to utting avenue East do we need to right indicator after first exit???

Christ Ash, what did Liverpool do to deserve that daft road layout. All through the video I was imagining myself using that double roundabout. Anyone who has never been there before would be at a distinct disadvantage. Combined with this is one of my pet hates. Councils insist on planting the Amazon Rain Forest on each roundabout to reduce visibility greatly. I was watching the shots from above and some people were bombing through (locals). It doesn't help that they are advertising for sponsors on boards on the roundabouts, not the time for reading in my opinion. As you said, you could physically not leave the roundabout at some points from the outside lane as the inside was occupied. Good luck to your students and murder that awkward construction. On a side note an instructor once told my daughter to use the right lane of a roundabout to go straight on leaving on a single lane road. I advised her to use the left hand lane as that lane was very commonly used by regular traffic. There were four exits on the roundabout (all single carriageways) and she needed the second. She would most definitely be cutting into regular traffic if she followed his advice.

question... why do they have a pedestrian crossing... in the middle of 2 roundabouts? isn't it the one reason why roundabouts were conjured into existence so that the traffic flows in all directions without the need for a car to stop inside the roundabout? P.S. Australia gives way to those inside the roundabout, not those to the right, it would make no sense for pupils to give way to others that have not yet entered the roundabout and are blocked by traffic when they themselves have clear chance of you going into the roundabout without obstructing other drivers. Just a tip, in case you wish to come to Australia and are stuck at a busy roundabout for the last 20 minutes
@Ultima28766 жыл бұрын
Happy Fox it’s really common here in the UK to have pedestrian crossings on the entrances (and exits!) of roundabouts. No idea why
@BadDriversOfAugustaGeorgia6 жыл бұрын
Am I missing something? Isn't this junction nothing more than two roundabouts that almost touch? If the driver is going a route that takes him from one roundabout through the other, isn't it really nothing more than exiting one roundabout and then giving way as needed prior to entering the second roundabout?
@Ultima28766 жыл бұрын
more or less, but you have to be aware of misleading signals as mentioned in the video.
