I have felt the same way you did after seeing 1 star reviews from my favorite books. Honestly if I DNF a book, I dont give it a star review. Sometimes I will say why it wasnt for me, but I dont do the stars unless I finish the book.

I agree. I don’t think you should give a star rating if you DNF a book. I have DNF a book after 100 pages because I didn’t care for the style it was written in.

I mean for me it depends on the reason I guess, but usually if I DNF a book, there is something I really really don't like about it and then I give a 1 star review because I think ratings shouldn't be misleading. If many people hate the book and DNF it but nobody rates it 1 star, then the majority will be good ratings when it shouldn't. However, if it's a me thing like writing style or I'm in a slump and can't get into it etc then I'll obviously won't rate it.

Harry is moody in the 5th book because Voldemort doesn’t realize their connection/Harry can’t shut him out, so Voldemort’s negativity is spilling into Harry. By the 6th book, Voldemort has realized/cut off the connection to his thoughts/emotions.

I highly recommend reading the 1 star reviews for A Court of Frost and Starlight because this is the book that most people like the least. 😊😊

Lol I love Love LOVE all the books as you. I still have to finish the Six of Crows duology, I haven’t read the second one yet. I have no desire to read to Shadow and Bone though, and I’m still debating on Hell Bent. Order of the Phoenix is actually my least favorite of the series lol I’m alllll about Prisoner of Azkaban and the Deathly Hallows. I love one star reviews. They always crack me up. Some five star ones do too because people can be just as vicious defending a book as they can ripping a book apart.

No one shall buy thee’s sunken treasure soul, although you squint into the phone you bought. Rapunzel’s psyche turned her hair to gold. Too much you wonder why your hair is not. The wealthy think they bought you with their bills. Perhaps they did. Conformed, you sold yourself. Your selfies hinting of eclipsed freewill; thy face a treasure map you shouldn’t sell. Rapunzel’s greatest comb, a shard of glass, but are you brave enough to cut your hair? or take your buried treasure spirit back, depart, escape, the 9 to 5 career. In freedom, hair becomes a human brown. Our broken mirror combs belong to us now

Gonna be honest... I hated AJ Fikry. I read it long enough ago that the only thing I remember about it is thinking how trite it was. It's one of those books that I hated so much I get like a jump scare when someone really loved it. I love ACoTaR though so we have at least some books in common. (And I would probably give AJ Fikry 1.5*. It was physically readable, which is better than another book I've tried to read this year. So it can't get the same rating as that.)

Some day I should look up bad reviews for my fav books haha it continues to surprise me that OotP is your fav HP book... I guess now that I'm older, my feelings about it when it first came out are different. I feel like I hated it when I was young because Harry was so angry and I really felt it so it made me angry the whole time I was reading too haha and then Umbridge and Snape on top of it all? I was a rage monster by the end of that book. But I guess that is what makes it so good huh? How much it makes you feel. I am not sure if you would like it, but I would love to see if you enjoy the Red Winter trilogy by Annette Marie. I've never seen a booktuber react to her (maybe because she is self published and not sold in any stores?) But I love that trilogy because I felt like it did a good job balancing a mainly adventure plot with slow burn romance that really got me. And it doesn't have spice (I know you dont like that)! Just a vague allusion to spice so you understand but dont see, if that makes sense. I also enjoy that the fantasy element is from Japanese folklore instead of the more common European folklore we have here. And the main girl grows so much. It is my greatest comfort read. If you have Kindle, hopefully that means you have Kindle Unlimited too. All the books are on there so you can try them out... also, it is a perfect winter read 😉 Enjoying yours (and Ian's) content!

I think people don't know that a beauty and the beast retelling DOES NOT MEAN it is a DIRECT RETELLING of the DISNEY MOVIE it is a type of fairy tale story involving usually a woman (not always of course) falling in love with a man who is either partially monster/not human/symbolically not human. a movie example would be Ex Machina (human man falls in love with woman robot). taking a film and lit class was a very awesome experience and I highly recommend doing so if you have the opportunity!

Is the smut in Silver Flames easily skippable? I’m debating on whether or not to read it when I finish Wings & Ruin and Frost & Starlight. I don’t like smut either.

Haha, I actually liked the Shadow and Bone Trilogy more than the Six of Crows duology. I gave Six of Crows three stars. I didn't rate the story but I Dnf'ed Finlay Donovan Is Killing it by the second/third chapter because I couldn't handle the main character with her kids and I am a mom of two. I have plans to read A Court of Wings and Ruin in January to finally finish the series.

Awesome vlog💯‼️ your facial reaction to the 1 star six of crows ratings are 💯and they match mine because I love ❤️ six of crows duology and all the characters especially Wylan and Jesper ❤😊 I can’t believe you didn’t like Shadow & Bone trilogy I loved the whole series, it helped me to understand Nina more in Six of Crows and why she is the why she is. I was a little bit frustrated with some parts of this trilogy and I was disappointed with how it ended especially for Alina and Mal. I love Order of the Phoenix and I need a paperback because I just have the hardcover so it makes re-reading it and carrying that big boy around is bit annoying. I love Red Rising 1-3 and I can’t wait to read the other books in this series. 😊Golden Son is my favourite followed by Morning Star 💯‼️

I react the same way when reading opposite reviews to books I loved/hated lol, I understand it's all subjective, but still! To be fair, I'm a plot-driven reader, so books where the plot is just following people in their lives tend to bore me, so I get the review about AJ Fickery not having a plot. I haven't read HP in so long, but I think people also don't appreciate the fact that, as frustrating as Harry is here, he's a teenager who has to constantly worry about his life, and at this point is a bit of a laughingstock. I think I'd act out too.

I read Love Theoretically and just couldn’t stand it, I haven’t read the love hypothesis yet, but I’m putting it off. I think I just found it immature for something that claims to be an adult book, so goodness knows what check and mate is like if that’s supposedly actually YA. Just not sure Ali Hazelwood is for me…I don’t get the hype at all, I’m baffled 😕
