This is one of the beasts in my half primary practice and your explanation is so helpful. Thank you so much for being very generous in giving out all the precious tips. Could you make a video for the pose that lifts one leg up in the air, before the half lotus fold forward please? Thank you very much.

I have been practicing for some time. I am done with the primary series and today my teacher adjusted my navasana in a way that I shouldnt be leaning back that much. Surprisingly this has regressed my savasana and my knees are somehow bent now but i can totally feel a different set of muscles activating so its making my compression muscles work. Immediately i felt difference in my bujhapidasana and feels like this adjustment is going to be my gateway to jumping back actually 🙏

Thank you for this great explanatory video! It already helped a lot! I've been struggling with this pose for years and would love to be able to do it! I noticed that when in this pose it feels like the hip muscles are doing most of the work and my back collapses quickly when trying to straighten up. Are the hip flexors supposed to do any work or should the focus be on the belly/core? Thank you!!

Thank you David and Jelena for your videos. Very insightful! I have a question on Navasana, my tailbone hurts when I am practicing this. I was advised to place folded towel under the tailbone whenever I practice. When I do that it’s less painful but it is distracting for me each time I have to adjust to avoid the pain. Do you have any advice on what can I do to make the experience better? Thank you. 😊🙏🏼
@DavidandJelenaYoga
@DavidandJelenaYoga 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Grace, Thanks for watching and for your question. You could try using a medium-hard bolster instead of a towel to see if that helps ease the pain more so than the towel. A couch cushion might also work if you're practicing at home. :)

Hi! Very informational as always! I did have a question - i have a very short torso and long legs. Due to this i feel like i have to lean back more in order to balance the weight of the legs which puts me way behind my sits bones. Do you have any recommendations for me? Much appreciated!

Thank you very much for your tips :) I would like to ask you... what can I do if my problem is with the moments where we pick up in between the 5 postures? I think maybe I don't have enogh core strength, but the actual Navasa posture is not so complicated to me, but the lifting up moment (close to lolasana) feels almost imposible... Thank you very much!!

Part of my daily practice is John Scott’s Only the A’s. My core is no where strong enough for the full Navasana. Rather than skipping it I hold my legs up with my hands behind my thighs. Can you suggest modifications for those of us with weaker cores, but would like to progress safely into the full pose?
@DavidandJelenaYoga
@DavidandJelenaYoga 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ross, thanks for watching our tutorial. If you absolutely can't stay up with legs straight, you could bend your knees (only as much as needed). This will help to build strength to hold with straight legs vs holding your legs which takes the work out of your core. Hope this helps!

When I do it, if I do it too much to the front I get a lot of pain from my tail-bone, if I do it more to the middle, I can't handle the weight of my legs and I can't extend them, if I do it too much to the back, my lumbar spine starts hurting... It is a pose I can"t find a good place or balance yet

Yeaahh, I totally fix my hair, I just noticed that! Question: My sacrum is slightly rounded and out so this posture is really painful and unstable for me (I'm like floating on my sacrum, literally). Any suggestions? I already put a thin pillow (or is it bolster?) under my butt. Thank you so much! I love practicing with you, I learn a lot, and not only about yoga ❤
@DavidandJelenaYoga

I have a special spot in my heart for navasana, so Jelena + navasana= 💗💗. Please consider doing a video on the transitions out of utkatasana and virabhadrasana B. I’m working on those, and since Jelena’s as strong as an ox 🐂 (even stronger than me), maybe I can learn from seeing it done by a pro. 😘
