Ash, a true gentleman..till now didn't reveal what transpired in aus or why he quit half way or complaining any individual...so much composure... especially not a great fan of super star worship or retirement farewell etc.. the greatest player from tamil nadu and perhaps one of the top 10 cricketers to play for india...the greatest captain who never got a chance to captain India

He never revealed why he did middle. Because pain is always pain. Statement is clear from BCCI. After BGT there is 8 months gap test that too in England. After that test is home is very far schedule. So he decided to walk way.

Tambi Ashwin, thank you for talking about R Pant. Agree with you. In several instances , IND was unlucky in BGT 24-25. AUS played similar cricket. Several calculated risks did not come our way, but they did for AUS. Would have loved to see the experts bring that up. I heard Harsha hint about it once. Happy partial retirement. Enjoy your family.

Perfectly said about Pant, Ash. I think we all expect him to be the match-winner every game as we don't have faith in anyone else in the batting line up, that we feel the most disappointed when Pant does not score. I still believe Pant has ways to go to find that "middle game" and to have the mental strength for longer to avoid the brain fade moments. He has amazing defense and deadly aggressive game - it's when to do what that's missing.

Rishab's defence technique is very underated as equal as his lap shots and cut shots. The reason why he was able to score almost a match defining knock in the 3rd test match against newzealand is that he was soo good in playing those backfoot shots. He waits for the ball to come to him and then he played his shots. In that innings he got out trying to play in the front foot. In spin friendly tracks, there are a few techniques the batsman can follow to taste success and playing in the back foot is one among them. And also the batsman should be always ready to play for the incoming delivering. I have noticed Shreyas succeed against newzealand spin attack by playing for the incoming deliveries. He always expext the ball to turn in and he had played few cut shots of the deliveries from the spinners which were aimed towards his stumps. Even axar patel has this technique but he doesn't use it more often than not. He scored 30 odd runs in the game against Bangladesh in their hometown two years back in which yourself and shreyas stitched a match winning partnership. Rishab should continue playing in the back foot in all countries except England.

In an interview with Channel 7 after his retirement, he spoke about his genuine approach toward fans, showing how humble and down-to-earth he truly is. I was fortunate to meet him in Perth, where we briefly talked in Tamil. His admiration for the fans was evident. I thought the BGT would be his last tour of Australia, but his retirement from International Cricket still surprised me. But as they say, everything happens for a reason. ASH, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours! Ashwin, you’ve undoubtedly faced numerous challenges on your journey. Great video Ash. Been a follower of cricket since early 90s. I myself kept getting transitioned in the way I looked at Cricket. Used to be a fan of individuals during my school time. Over a period of time, understood that Cricket has to be looked at as Cricket which is when I started looking deeper on the technical aspects of the game and the ground work every player has to put in which sometime may succeed/fail as the opponent team player as also put in a similar effort. It's a game of talent but at the same time it's a game of probabilities too like we do have in every other field. Great perspectives from you for the viewers. Keep'em coming!

Great point.. Test cricket is so fascinating because watching it makes you realize just how challenging it is to switch gears in the face of a storm from the opposition, manage risk so that you can score runs while minimizing chances of losing a wicket (or, alternatively, for a bowler, to keep creating wicket-taking opportunities while minimizing the number of runs conceded), etc. Captaincy is important in all forms, but none more so than in Test cricket.
