Golden Rose was one of his girl friends pre-fame, I had her as a friend on FB but she passed away a few years back. Sweet lady. Asia he did all the guitar work and he was a studio genius.

A few moments in rock and roll history can pinpoint the moment that music, arts and society at large changed forever. Though it may not have felt like a groundbreaking moment at the time, the butterfly effect of Chas Chandler, the bassist for British invasion group The Animals, witnessing Jimi Hendrix perform a set at the Cafe Wha? in New York’s Greenwich Village was a singular point in time that would change the world forever..

It WAS Linda Kieth who led chas TO jimi. ( fact ). SHE..is the ACTUAL first discoverer of his GENUIS ( she FELT him, at a club gig )...and contacted chas Chandler..to ' come and HEAR. ' note: see the 1973 Warner Brothers, film/ documentary about Jimi : " a film about Jimi Hendrix" ...is the title. LINDA KIETH ( beautiful ) is interviewed..she became good friends with Jimi. ( Linda Kieth discovered Jimi Hendrix in a n.y.c. nightclub.) DISCOVERED. she brought to the club some music business men record people, to listen..and THEY told her he was 'nothing.' Then she went told chas..and...well, the REST is "forever" (song: '1983...') HISTORY !! 🎸🥁🎸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸... 🇬🇧🇬🇧💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊⚰️🪦. ( ✝️ ).

Rainy Day, Dream Away/Still Raining, Still Dreaming from ELECTRIC LADYLAND. Buddy Miles on drums, Mike Finnigan on B3, and the sax player and percussionist (names escape me but played with Finnigan in the Serfs who were recording down the hall). Jimi invited them to jam. Finnigan tells the story beautifully in BBC documentary.

That sequence is an acid trip by itself, otherworldly playing from all involved. Also of note is the long form Voodoo Child on side 1 with Steve Winwood on mesmerizing Hammond Organ, playing off Jimi, totally hypnotic. That album is still amazing.

Was Jimi the only Guitar Player in his band? Yes. The Experience and later with the Band of Gypsies. Both were power trios. Jimi played the guitar and sang. Sad but the younger generation doesn't give Hendrix his rightful due. Jimi was the first to really turn it up...and sound good. Also, tremendous rhythm player.

Excellent choice! One of my favourites by Jimi, a hidden gem. I'm not sure who recommended this to you, but please keep listening to their recommendations. Jimi has a different way of seeing and expressing colors in his music. He did it in his own unique way that only Jimmy Page IMO is an equal Listen to the subtleties and ease of little notes he incorporates in his music (Little Wing studio version is my fave), like a great drummer. The notes just roll off his fingers, pure feel and expression. I recall finger picking the main chords by ear many moons ago and just smiling. I could see what Jimi was seeing, though replication never matches originality. He finds his own scale of notes and just the right tone to capture his emotions. Little Wing and May This Be Love are on a similar plane of calm creation. Enjoy his studio work.

There were only 3 musicians in the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and Jimi did all the guitar work, both live and in the studio. He used the studio to embellish his music, laying down several different guitar tracks that would compliment each other and enlarge his sound. It would actually sound like several guitar players playing together, but it was all Jimi. Genius. I was lucky enough to see the Jimi Hendrix Experience live in concert twice, when I was a teenager. It was an "experience" I will never forget. He was my favorite guitarist/performer then, and he is still my favorite. R.I.P. James Marshall Hendrix .... Your extraordinary gift continues to bless lovers of great music ...

Thanks so much for this video. Many in the public have only heard Jimis loud distorted music. You can hear the more mellow side in this tune. What a ton of soul he had. There is a great book called "Cherokee Mist". It's filled with tons of his lyrics. Did you know the original version of purple haze was almost 30 minutes long? He had ideas for animated cartoons for his songs too. So much dimension too him. Such a human tone. I think most recordings are him doing multiple tracks. See if you can check out a song called Valleys of Neptune. Yeah, he's my guitar god. Thanks again.

He played all the guitar work on the Experience and Band Of Gypsy's albums, he had some session people on Electric Ladyland like Stevie Winwood on keys for a couple tracks but guitar was 100% all Jimi, although he was a session guitar player with The Isley Bros, Little Richard, B.B. King and Sam Cooke before he broke out with his own band. Jimi was a brilliant musical composer, has some truly great deep cuts that highlight his incredible songwriting talents. This is one of my personal Jimi faves, such a beautiful song

One of my favorite Jimi songs. He played with "The Experience" ,Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums and "The Band of Gypsys " Billy Cox on bass, Buddy Miles on drums. He was known to show up at other groups shows and sometime jam with them. There are a few low quality bootlegs of him with various artists. The 1st time I heard this song I was at a house party just south of Boston. There may or may not have been 3 letter chemicals involved. A huge fight broke out and this giant of a man named Max looks around ,hears this tune being played and starts singing along. Everybody just turned and stood still. He sounded great singing with Jimi. I can still hear him.

To continue the ‘lesson’ on Psychedelia (🙄 which so many don’t appear to understand) one of the many characteristics of an artist producing a largely Psychedelic album is the artwork. ‘Axis Bold As Love’ is a great example of this: garish colours, hallucinatory images and depictions of alternative realities.

Awesome! I didn't see this one coming! If you want to hear him do a beautiful apology song, then The Wind Cries Mary is a must. I think he was making fun of his gals cooking at a dinner party she was having for him and she got very upset and hurt. He felt so bad that he immediately penned the song. It sounds as if Bob Dylan could have wrote it but, that was just his influence Jimi was channeling. Little Wing is another stellar classic for the ages:)

Hendrix was usually the only guitarist in his studio recordings. Near the end of his career he did occasionally use some other guitarists on recordings. Live, he would sometimes play with other guitarists. There are bootlegs with Hendrix playing with Johnny Winter and BB King among others. Hendrix would also, particularly on this album, often play the bass lines as well. On the album this song is taken from, "Axis: Bold As Love", Hendrix wrote a lot of his more sensitive deeper songs. The song "Little Wing", which is on this album, took a LOT of influence from Curtis Mayfield. I really enjoy your reactions.

Although there are few exceptions, Jimi played multiple guitar parts on his studio recordings, so it sounds like 2 or more guitarists at times. Jimi had a fantastic imagination and could make it sound like different people... yet, at that time, it could only be him making it all blend together perfectly. It was all part of his genius. It's hard to find these studio tunes on Y tube, but if you stick to these, with Spanish sub-titles, you can find quite a few... but don't be surprised if they get pulled someday. I really hope not,... but it could happen. Take advantage of them, while they are here. These songs, for the most part, are missing from Y tube... and fans will want to listen.

Hi Folks, In this studio recording of "One Rainy Wish", you are only hearing Jimi's power trio band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, which included Jimi on all guitar parts, Mitch Mitchell on drums, & Noel Redding on drums. When the Experience performed live, Jimi was very good at playing the rhythm guitar parts and the lead guitar parts interwoven together as one big guitar sound. In this studio recorded track, "One Rainy Wish", you hear Jimi playing a delicate, cleaner-sounding guitar part, and you also hear an overdub of Jimi playing an octave-fuzz guitar part (which sounds like he's playing in the sky).
@jamesmabley36362 жыл бұрын
Very few songs did Jimi have another guitar player play with him. 99% of the time it was all Jimi on guitar. Dave Mason played 6 string acoustic on All Along the Watchtower. It took him 26 takes to get it right. Larry Lee played second guitar at Woodstock. Jimi knew Larry from his days as a soldier in the 101st Airborn in Fort Knox. Jimi used to go to Nashville on weekends and jam, and he met Larry there. In 1961. Jimi als did all the backup vocals on the song, Have You Ever Been to Electric Ladyland. Hes pure psychedelic Motown. Also though Noel Redding is credited as playing Bass. Jimi also played Bass alot more than people think. He also wrote all the Bass parts. And even sometimes directed Mitch Mitchell as to what he would like to hear on the drums.
