He just didn't give a flying f*** - he was AWESOME - told them all the truth and they didn't like it. Also the Epstein - you had to make your own way here in your own plane - a reference to the plane a lot of them got on to travel to where the girls were. Hanks' face is priceless - squirming like he's worried about what Ricky might know about him.

IMO when he says actors don't know anything about the real world & not to lecture the public, he means they aren't worrying about the cost of gas, keeping groceries in the kitchen, avoiding homelessness. The economy isn't crushing them, they travel, & have the best of everything at their fingertips. They have no idea what it actually feels like to be a normal citizen in our current socioeconomic climate. So take your award, offer thanks, and get off the stage.

Yeah, I think that is it and it is true aswell. During lockdown some people protested in front of a burger restaurant because they wanted it to open again so that they could work there again. And Patton Oswald, the comedian, bashed them for it. He thought they wanted it open to eat there. And he basically said that they should be happy, just stay home, stream netflix, order food, live the good life. That dude is so far removed from reality that he didn't comprehend that normal people were at risk of losing everything. He flat out did not understand that if an ordinary person can't work, they can't just sit around, order food and stare into the TV. He knows nothing of the real world.

I've had to watch this 100 times. Asia and BJ, this wasn't the complete version but you hit a lot of the funny parts. Hollywood certainly deserved Ricky's comments. Loved how Asia's mouth was hanging open through most of it, too funny!

Oh man, I love Ricky Gervais so much. His stand up is hilarious. Especially the one where dogs get their jobs. He has a zero bullshit threshold. He’s hilarious and talented and does have a kind heart. He created some great TV series, including the original British, The Office, Extras, a Hilarious, series about being an extra in movies featuring some great actors, including Kate, Winslet and David Bowie, and Patrick Stewart, then Derek , about an old folks where he plays a meek and caring man who works there, and After Life, where he plays a widower trying to continue living after his wife passes away. He Himself has been in a long-term relationship for decades. He is multi talented and calls out the bullshit that is infecting our world. Love him.

I've watched this so many times! And it NEVER gets old! I love the fact that Tom Hanks was obviously so pissed. He's one of those that seems like a good dude, but he never has been. I was disappointed when things started coming out about the Hollywood elites and their debauchery. This particular roast should have destroyed Ricky but it didn't. He nailed it! We know it and the best thing about it is THEY know it too.
