Only thing that works for me is deliberately under applying, letting it dry, going on with another tiny layer etc until my face is adequately covered. Will only do this bc I hate wasting product if a sunscreen pills I usually never buy it again (looking at you drunk elephant!)

Ok so I am currently using a sample of this spf… I don’t like it first of all and will not be buying a full size! My method for NOT pilling is.. Clean face Toner if you use it Only ONE treatment product and WAIT for that product to completely dry down! No moisturizer… I have pretty “normal” skin type so the spf is enough moisture for me. If you have dry skin I recommend moisturizing really well at night and just splashing your face with water in the morning. I am sure an oily tye would be just fine without the moisturizer step. Put on the full amount of spf in one go… do not try to layer it gradually! Add really rub it in… Yes… keep rubbing! It will start to look like its pilling but keep working it into the skin! The “pilling” will smooth out as you work it in. This has been working for me. I definitely don’t like it… they really need to reformulate! Also if you wear makeup don’t apply that for a while after applying the spf.

The Glow Recipe sunscreen is a disaster. The brand even recommends patting on the sunscreen to prevent pilling, but does that even provide an even layer of sun protection? Surely not if you compare it to furniture painting. Dabbing paint with a brush won't provide you with an even coat of paint in the same way as brushing it on layer by layer. I hope they reformulate it soon. It's even worse considering that Glow Recipe's products aren't exactly affordable.

I love the Benton air fit!! You compare it to the BoJ but personally I found that they are quite different when it comes to my sensitive skin. I keep one in my purse or car and one with my sunscreens it’s amazing for touch up doesn’t pill it’s the only mineral sunscreen that doesn’t pill. I used to use the light blue Kosé suncut sunscreen line (it's the same as the gold one but not water resistant) and it was my absolute favourite. Never pilled on my skin, left no white cast (given that my skin is pretty fair) and sooo affordable. Unfortunately they discontinued it for some reason, so I switched to the water resistant line (I'm using the gel). It works for my skin too but it doesn't feel as nice as the other one. And it's more expensive. I hope they'll bring back the light blue line eventually.

Been using the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence for years until I found Suncut UV Perfect Gel and it has become one of my favorite sunscreens together with Nivea UV Super Water Gel. Both are very light on the skin and it doesn’t smell like alcohol at all. It doesn’t sting my eyes too unlike the Biore one. The only difference is that the Kose one is waterproof and has 4PA+ while Nivea only has 3PA+ and is not waterproof tho it’s perfect if you only stay indoors. Regarding the pilling, I guess I’m one of the lucky ones to not have experience it even with oily skin.

Hi Michelle, The Ego Azclear azelaic acid pills on me...but it is still one of my favourite products! I can only apply it when I'm make-up free at home all day, or at night. I can't wear it under make-up. Also, if I apply the John Plunkett Superfade Original (hydroquinone) too thickly, it can sometimes pill. Maybe pilling can occur when certain products are applied too heavy-handed? Or, whatever has been applied underneath. (Although I can understand anyone who applies sunscreen generously)... However, it is a waste if the product just rolls off your face. Anyway, I buy the "Original" rather than the "Face" version of the Superfade (hydoquinone) ... because it's the same product & strength just more economical. If I apply a sparce amount of Superfade to my face and then apply foundation & powder there is a 'healthy glow' that eminates from beneath my makeup. When I have done this I have been told that my skin looks "radiant" "good"/"healthy." etc. Although, this technique can only be done when staying indoors, or out at night...because I don't apply hydroquinone if there any chance of my face confronting sunlight. We are fortunate that be can purchase hydroquinone in Australia OTC. I am loving the Aldi (Australia) Ombre Daily Defence SPF 50+ broad spectrum face moisturiser...both the regular and tinted versions. It is so light and comfortable to wear. It doesn't sting my eyes, it's fragrance free and only costs Au$3.99! The tinted version is not too dark for my fair skin and not orangey at all. The non-tinted version absorbs into the skin well and doesn't leave a cast on me. No pilling either. 👱♀️❤

Use at your own discretion. Take into account the level of sun exposure you're likely to have that day, the humidity levels and type of activity you're planning. I personally use Korean sunscreen on my face and neck on the daily as it agrees with my very sensitive, redness prone yet oily skin. However, I would not rely on it for days when I'm spending extra time outdoors or sweating a lot, as they're usually not that water resistant. Go for the TGA approved 50+ with water resistance for those occasions for sure.
