There was a kid at my uni who had seizures during his final exams and this happened twice. He said the only thing that helped his seizures for GOOD was medicinal marijuana. I live in Canada where it is legalized but where I live, you can't smoke it in public. I honestly think smoking is a lot worse for you overall and yet people are more accepting of it. I don't really do drugs but I have friends who smoke weed every day. I know students who smoked weed a lot, made them lazy and got kicked out of uni. BUT, I know students who got into professional colleges and are successful while smoking weed very regularly. As long as it doesn't control their life, it's not a big deal to me.

Cheez on the money. Most Asian nations adopted the same constitutional law structure as European nations after colonization. This included drug laws. and why they are illegal in the us, is funnily another thing. But it works also with the general Asian ethic for discipline and avoidance of intoxicating behaviour. That's where religious values/cultural values reinforce the laws

Marijuana is a plant native to East Asia, in Korea it used to grow plentifully, in North Korea it still does. It has been recorded for thousands of years as a toxic herb that has only ever been used combined with proto-opium and liquor to ease pain during early forms of surgery. and the seed commonly used as a gentle laxative. the reason why they are strict is because they have seen negative effects of marijuana leaf on society for a long time. and also there are many other herbal remedies which do not cause as much damage. as for epilepsy it does help with temporary relief, but like most CNS inhibitors or stimulants, once the body gets used to it, it will no longer be effective and symptoms may become even worse once the use is discontinued. Asian government bodies do indeed remember the harm drugs once brought, and also see first hand the kind of slave labor and brutal criminality in the golden triangle nearby as well as the cartels and petty criminals in the west associated with distribution. -I'm a doctor. still, most anything is better than opiod. if anything, the positive attitude towards marijuana makes it more dangerous. if people had negative attitude towards it, like they do with opioids, than marijuana would much more likely be accepted as people would be less likely to abuse it.
@ns23046 жыл бұрын
@@ajlee613 Thanks for the contextual insight, it truly sheds light on Korea's history with it. But I don't think I would be wrong in stating the nature of the severity for its use and punishment has been strongly due the influence of the government structure put in place following the war and prior colonial activity. Many other Asian countries have an identical law structure when dealing with marijuana use. Then again I'm not well versed in the specifics of this but simply from my observation I agree just as opium was finally deemed detrimental for widespread use marijuana has its side effects. However I think the fine line is the stigma towards the possible medical use for marijuana. It becomes problematic when you lump all of its use with the various ways people intend to consume the drug. So in that sense we see here that clearly it is helping with childhood fits and is proving to be a viable cessation tool without the advent of adverse side effects. There shouldn't be a need to legalize consumption but as a doctor would you agree/disagree there isn't anything lost in allowing it's use and regulation in medical use? It's a very complex issue and alot of the media works to be sensationalist about the matter.

CBD help me with panic/anxiety attacks and it has basically reduced my intake of major pain medication. I am a disabled vet that suffers from PTSD, it is legal in my state. First it was medical marijuana then it became legal for recreational use. I don’t smoke at all but I use the CBD oils, gummy’s and hard candy. It’s not covered though any health insurances but it is reasonably priced. I am of course in the US, but people need to be better informed and educated on the beneficial properties of CBD. The opioids are doing so much more harm than CBD could ever do. I pray that the law makers and the citizens of South Korea rethink their views on this because it can truly change a life for the better.

CBD oil cured my knee inflammation.. when I had tried everything else from jars of Tiger Balm, sprays, and even anti inflammatory meds! Those only masked symptoms but CBD cured the problem.. and within a day or two! I used the other stuff FOR WEEKS. It’s the real deal. CBD Freeze is what I used. It retails $30 and it’s a roll on available online here in the US.

I'm a Neuropsychology student that studies the behavioral effects of epilepsy. I'm really glad Asian Boss and this parent attempted to research and test CBD oil. This was a huge issue and still is in many states here in the US. Parents could not get legislation to approve giving CBD oil to their children with rare epilepsy in southern states and had to quit jobs and move out of state to legalized states. Not all of US approves of giving CBD oil to kids, either. But, doctors in Colorado and California have researched it extensively, seeing results almost immediately. Brain surgery (resections) takes out area of the brain were localization is believed to trigger seizures and take out that part of the brain. This hardly works and has gotten so extreme that entire halves of brains are removed. As a parent, I'm glad she wanted surgery to be a last option. CBD oil has helped many kids with LGS and even Dravet Syndrome (another form of rare epilepsy), I think even cortical dysplasia, recover when they were taking up to 12 tablets a day and so drugged they were almost comatose. Last, I think it is the Pharma companies that do not want people taking this here in the US (not sure about Korea). If parents spend money solely on CBD oil they won't be shelling out close to 2-5 grand US on pharmaceuticals. There are about 40 different types of epilepsies, and if patients with less severe forms of epilepsy stop taking pharmaceuticals to take CBD oil I'm sure they're worried about the loss even though it may be a miracle oil for some.

If people understood the deep love but also heavy sorrow of the parents who try to help their children, AND the research that is being conducted, policies would change. With more and more research and evidence, I hope legislation can change in the next few decades. It must be absolutely heart breaking to know there is something that could help, its legal in some countries, but you cannot get hold of it.

I wish more education would be put into force regarding the properties of cannabis plant. Like sugar, fat and Acid it has great qualities and bad ones. We're only realising the balance of both in regards to the results of addiction to sugar and alcoholism...and the ill effects of Nicotine is far worse. CBD has none of the hallucinogenic traits of Marijuana, but even Marijuana when used spsparingly can be fine. There are many countries that do fine with it legalised. Drugs such as crack, heorin and ecstasy have detrimental effects. Otherwise alcohol is the worst offender for crime

I could go on but it's depressing. About a year ago, I heard about CBD oil. I've tried tons of vitamins and other herbal supplements as I don't want to go on narcotic pain killers. Very recently I finally purchased CBD oil and started using it daily. It hasn't even been a week and I already feel the difference in my pain level. No side effects so far. I'm so grateful that I can use this theraputic oil for my condition. I pray that Korea will recognize the benefits and allow people to use it. Exactly, even long before thinking about making marijuana legal here in the states, we allowed individuals to purchase medical weed for health purposes through doctor's prescriptions.

I love the fact that asian boss is not afraid to cover hard hitting issues in asia, and that it gives us a chance to discuss critically about things happening in asia as opposed to the west where such critical debate is more encouraged (or at least happens more). I would really like CBD oil to be more received in various countries in Asia, the notion of "Traditional Medicine" (Like traditional chinese medicine, acupuncture, etc.) is too heavily relied on in asia, in essence it is a form of homeopathy but marketed to the extreme. I believe that concepts of progressive medical discovery like CBD is hindered in Asia because it hurts the Asian homeopathy industry. That isn't to say that I don't trust Traditional Chinese Medicine at all since I can still get a little "Lower heat" with a herbal tea or warm myself up with some Ginseng Medicine, but it is too heavily relied on for serious medical issues like these.

The legislation of medical marijuana was just approved in South Korea, and after hearing the news this case was the first thing I thought of, I am happy beyond words for this mother to now be able to apply for a permit for her son 💕💕

this is just one example of a loving parent who would do anything to comfort her child. it's annoying because the legislators would be lying if they said they wouldn't do the same!

I work with people recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries, which has a 30+ year recovery process and most people also deal with severe chronic pain. Being on strong pain killers for that long destroys your organs and over time has many negative psychological effects too. Many of my clients have been transitioning from pain meds to CBD products and it has been amazing to witness. They are regaining cognitive abilities and some have even seen improvements in thier internal systems sin e it is so much gentler for the body to process. ALL have been able to reduce the number of medications they need to take. I think CBD is important for the progress of medicine in the upcoming decades.

I can understand if this country and culture want to keep marijuana illegal, BUT Asian countries often use dangerous plants as medicine safely. So why not CBD oil?
@p.j.38046 жыл бұрын
I left my former state for a state where marijuana is legal, for health reasons. I am often ill and my husband has PTSD from the military. Products containing CBD and marijuana have helped us with pain and mental stability. We have lots of programs in our state to prohibit sales to underaged people. The products are also inspected for safe consumption. Doctors here encourage patients to use CBD and marijuana, as it is safer than most commercial drugs. If I were that mother, I would either move to the Western U.S., or fight every day to legalize CBD for children suffering from her child's condition.

Eu adorei! Força! As mães vão revolucionar o mundo!

The problem with marijuana is the stereotypes and the stigma associated with it. From what I've been told (since I don't smoke any kind of substance and never have) it's actually less harmful than cigarettes, but cigarettes are legal when you're of a certain age due to it having a high chance of causing health detriments which ultimately leads to people needing hospitalization, doctor visits, pharmaceutical drugs, etc. The government, agencies, and the pharmaceutical companies are making it their job to make sure marijuana is still stigmatized and considered a dangerous substance. On top of that, the media and news exacerbate the situation by making marijuana seem totally bad and cigarettes somehow are still legal even though we know how negatively and the high chance of addiction it has. I agree that South Korea and other nations need to look at marijuana again and study it for what it actually is and not the highly politicized substance these people are trying to convince people it is. There are so many benefits of medical marijuana but these companies want to keep people sick.

It's less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. But places like Korea in Asia are just brainwashed into thinking it's the worst thing in the world. One of the few things that drives me insane about the Korean culture that, generally, I love very much. It's hard to change any kind of stigmatized view in this country (the look at people with HIV Like they have the plague and will not even go near them )
@xxnike0629xx6 жыл бұрын
@Benny I know how you feel and I agree. In Korean American born and raised in the US but I have family there and my parents are originally from there and immigrated to the US and got married. I still have some family living there and their mentality is very different on many things compared to American ways of thinking. They seem to have the opinion that HIV is like the plague. Yes it’s an STI and spreading it is bad for others but you shouldn’t view people with it as if they’re less human. The same for marijuana where they don’t understand all the facts and just go by what they’re told on TV and what they hear from the news. But this isn’t just South Korea as many people in general just use one news source and assume it’s all factual when they should be getting informed from a variety of sources and then deciding on their own. The thing with marijuana is that there are some cons like any substances but there’s also a lot of benefits from what I’ve looked up about it. Yes some end up being social degenerates, hallucinate, maybe harm people, or maybe commit crimes. But there’s actual medicinal benefits. It’s just that the government in many countries still don’t understand or maybe they do and don’t care since cigarettes are ultimately more harmful and profitable to major companies. It’s messed up.

@@xxnike0629xx You'd be surprised to know that a lot of high social status people smoke or use marijuana, just the media wants to portray it as something only low social status people use. Also, most people don't commit crimes involving weed (except for the sale of it, if it's not legal in their area), most violent crimes center around cocaine and opium and violent domestic attacks center around alcohol. So even you still have some stigmas as well.

@@2Infinit2 Your country needs more lecture seminars and information drive about HIV.... 😱😱😱 I cannot just imagine why your people act way worse than my country when it comes to people having HIV... Taking Retroviral drugs consistently will help a patient and also with these drugs they could still have a normal life just like us.

This resonates with me because after Oregon legalized it, my dad who has anxiety, depression, sleep apnea, and heart issues started using the medical strain to help him sleep and calm down. And at first I was disgusted because it had been drilled into my head that marijuana is bad but I saw how much it helps him and so I have expanded my mind.

Personally I live in the netherlands and I'm not a huge fan of marijuana because a lot of people here use it just for fun or they are tourists who just come here to try marijuana. But medically I feel like it should be legal everywhere, Even if it's not legal to buy it for your own pleasure, it should be legal for medical reasons.

My mother does a lot of fitness and martial arts training. And because of how hard her training was she started to have a lot of pain that was really hard ease. She took CBD oil through a vape and it had taken the pain away almost immediately. Even my granpa takes the gummies for his medical problems. I think the medicinal part of marijuana should at least be legal to everyone
