I get the feeling people will blame this on beauty standards... But beauty standards are the effect of someone being born genetically more physically (for this argument) appealing or of a person who finds a way to enhance their beauty artificially. | This means that those involved are responsible for how reasonable or insane it gets. | If people want to lower the beauty standards, those involved would have to change. But as many people do benefit from the system, and those who start the change will be at a disadvantage, no one wants to be the first.

I think it's annoying that they're all saying that beauty filters are fine. I think it really promotes this illusory image of one's looks that is NOT healthy. Filters further perpetuate the notion that people need to look a certain way to be considered "beautiful". SMH, advertising has us questioning our own beauty, creating a sense of "lack" (when we're really just fine as we are) and pitting us against each other over looks. Social media is rather toxic tbh.

6:57 this. also I can't tell how many times I saw someone saying how they change the features of their faces for selfies, and then are scared of meeting people irl, because ''what if he doesn't like my face?''. It's a vicious circle - change the features, hate your real face, then change your features more, hate your real face even more. I use just a bit of filters, but it's usually to brighten up the photo when it's dark, or remove dark circles under my eyes when I had a sleepless night. I'd never change the shape of my face, my eyes or my nose and then act surprised when ppl say I'm unrecognizable or that I hate myself. Likes are not worth it at all.

No one should be calling what she does "deceitful" if they aren't 100% genuine at work...and I can assure that almost no one is, especially if working a position with any customer service. You act to your boss, coworkers, and customers because it's essentially part of your job even if it's not listed in the job description. Everyone acts/pretends when working, and that woman was working hard. She was merely doing what she could to make money -- to live -- as anyone else would. it'd be one thing if she were in a relationship with someone online and being deceitful or something like that, but she's merely an internet persona.

All beautiful streamers don't make it big. You have to have some talent. However even if you are talented but not beautiful it becomes a drawback. People want to see beautiful, its not like they actually get to meet the person. So I don't think one can actually blame them for using filters. Its a part of "showing what people want to see".

For those that have done online dating its also a problem. People who have legitimate accomplishments in their careers don't stand out because those that have not, lie and claim they are also accomplished in the same areas and more. I have never posted a beauty filter photo on my profile or lied about my career but have met women who do. I am sure men do it too which wasted the other person's time in finding someone who is real and honest. I have no problems competing with other men who are accomplished but find it irritating I also need to compete with wannabe losers. I got fed up with the lies that I closed my profile and don't online date anymore.
