The feeling when I traveled in China is they r very diverse! I saw ppl there wear hanfu, cosplay, vintage, Japanese style, korean style, hiphop style etc. And it’s more like ppl dress for themselves and being confident. To compare with what I felt in japan and Korea, it’s definitely much more diverse ( I think it’s because of the difference of culture:)))
@SeoWoojin552 жыл бұрын
Lived in both countries (Korea and China), Korea for me has the more diverse fashion styles and Koreans tend to be more adventurous and because of the Korean wave, Korean fashion seems to set the themes of most fashion trends in Asia. I did see in China that it is also diverse and it has a lot of influences from Korean and Western fashion, but Korea seems to be more fashion forward as most people in Korea really dress well (not saying they do not in China and other countries), but Koreans tend to make more effort when it comes to their styles and are more adventurous.
@SeoWoojin552 жыл бұрын
@@riorio745 Not really for me? The reason you might be seeing it that is because it is the other way around. Korea has influenced Western fashion more imo (also according to my friends from the US and Germany). Korea really is more diverse and experimental for me when it comes to fashion and by concensus, among my non-Korean friends too. Different styles for different seasons and you will see the more experimental side of Korean fashion in Fashion shows and fashion weeks or when it comes to streetwear.

@@SeoWoojin55 Korea is more diverse? It's like 9 of 10 men have the same bowl hair cut, idk how it is diverse
@user-pm2zv9fs5r2 жыл бұрын
@@SeoWoojin55 i think that its less that korea has influenced western fashion, but that it has become a trend. people try on the makeup styles, they like that korean look/aesthetic but not many people really dress like that. in my own experience, koreans care a lot more abt looking good and sophisticated. u can see that this sophisticated style is the type that gains a lot of views in the west and imo it matches the way koreans actually dress. there are lots of people who dress more casual but korean culture seems more mannered (not that chinese are not mannered) and less accepting of certain looks. with certain outfits, u can get quite judgemental looks in korea, so it seems like this experimental side only really stays in shows. chinese fashion online is either very culturally inspired like hanfu or hip hop inspired, at least that's what goes viral in the west. in big cities u can find that there are people who dress like that but also people who cant because of office jobs or college, which is why the korean fashion is so popular. if it comes to beauty standards/culture, compared to Korea there is not as much emphasis on beauty and perfection, so u could get away with a louder fashion style. only exception is in front of elderly people Japan seems the most diverse and tolerant of different fashion styles. there are a lot of japanese sub categories, many take inspiration from western fashion and eastern fashion and just more wild styles. hairstyles are also way more diverse but ofc we cant measure diversity on what is tolerated. just walking the streets of japan u can see a lot of different fashions

Actually, Southern Europeans have more of an olive undertone whereas E. Asians tend to have a more honey-colored undertone. Both can be pale if they make an effort to stay inside, wear hats, use creams to lighten their skin. However, naturally, they can be pretty tanned. The reason why people prefer light skin isn't just mere preference but because historically dark skin has been associated with poverty and later Blackness, and both of these are seen as shameful. There is nothing wrong with having light/pale skin, but the obsession with not being dark has very negative and damaging implications for people who naturally cannot be lighter than they already are. This doesn't just affect self-image and beauty standards, but also affects employment, marriage (which can affect economic status/social mobility), punishment (municipal, judicial), etc.

6:46 “漢奸頭” is translated as “a Korean celebrity”. It's not very precise. "漢奸" is a derogatory term referring to Chinese who betray their national interests to foreign invaders. In China's film and television dramas with the theme of the Sino-Japanese War in World War II, such people often have a mid-part haircut, which is called "traitor head" by some contemporary Chinese.
Everyone has a different perspective on looks but I think Korea is generally more good looking then other countries , because media influenced many young generations into thinking this way. However, I say there are also a lot of good looking people in China, but not as much in Japan.

@Mangaluvr2475 жыл бұрын
@@irene6607 The thing is, is that Kpop is putting pressure on guys to meet this feminine ideal which is very unnatural for the average man. They have to use tons of make up and plastic surgery in many cases to achieve it. I feel like they're strong opinions are a counter to these expectations. But yeah, they were obviously rude about feminine men but at least we got their honest opinion.
@irene66075 жыл бұрын
Tanya S there are beauty standards in every industry, not only kpop. Plastic surgery is not exclusive to korean people. Makeup is not only for women. Also, average korean men doesn’t look like kpop idols. As far as other male population are concerned, i do think that korean men does more skincare but it’s rare just as much for the average korean men to wear actual makeup, but even if they do it’s not a problem. And what do you mean by unnatural? There are women who look more masculine or act more tomboyish than other women, but that doesn’t make them any less of a woman. The same goes for men. I think you are the one putting the pressure on boys to fit the ideal standard of how a man should look or act. It’s not like kpop idols come forward and say that men should wear makeup, act like this and that.
