I dug my Glideride 3 out recently. What a shoe! It’s been difficult to get the GRMax in the UK, but this week have put 20miles into mine and think I’ve found the long/easy run shoe I’ve been looking for with the right amount of cushion, stability and versatility for me.

No way a 1080 beats the Glideride. Glideride is a super shoe in that I used mine for everything but race day, it's a super trainer. Love the shoe for my long runs, it absorbs those miles. Durability is great too, the shoe still looked good after 300 miles.

When Adidas Evo SL hits the market with the expected price of 150 € and super foam, it will make all these EVA containing horribloy expensive shoes completely obsolete. Finally. I've been waiting for such a development for years.

I think the Glideride 3 had what this shoe is missing. It was lighter, more versatile and not as close to the Nimbus. The Guidesole tech is great and I wish they had a versatile, cushioned daily trainer in the Novablast weight range shoe with that geometry - essentially a 2024 update of the Glideride 3!
@RamrodSmothers2 ай бұрын
These released quite a while ago in the US and I had issues with volume in the forefoot. I was surprised since the Nimbus and Novablast fit me well in 2E… I bought it at launch and had to return the shoe. Not sure if I got unlucky with QA getting the shoe hot off the press, but thought I would share for a fair warning to those who need a wide fit.

The Asics description says it is like a max cushion somewhat stability shoe for underpronators. So I think there is a specific use for the shoe for a specific type of runner like me perhaps? I slightly supinate when I run. I have not bought the shoe but can't decide between this one and Puma Magmax for my easy long miles.
@TolunayOrkun2 ай бұрын
It is a daily trainer that can do long runs. Personally, I believe it is a better daily trainer than Novablast 4 and Nimbus 26. Outsole is ASICS Grip which is better than what Novablast 4. Much better shoe than you give credit for.
@andreasschwarz49083 күн бұрын
The Novablast is cheaper though, at least where I live, 150 vs 180, so it ought to be an upgrade. Since we're comparing different price categories, the Superblast 2 can do that better so there's zero reason to buy the Glideride. The Nimbus isn't a daily trainer, it's a walking or recovery shoe for easy days only and feels like quicksand, at least at first. I wouldn't base my buying decision on the outsole grip, but I don't live in the wet tropics or other regions where grip would be important throughout the year, so ymmv.
@TolunayOrkun2 күн бұрын
@@andreasschwarz4908 Well, two months ago when I write that, I still believed Glieride Max was worth it despite extra cost. But with the arrival of Novablast 5, things have changed. I think at the moment I would pick Novablast 5. It is a huge improvement. That said Adidas Adizero SL2 is the best value proposition. HOKA Mach 6 is also a very good shoe as a daily trainer.

Aaaah been waiting for this review 😊 I never had the GR1. I had the v2 and didn't like it at all. I loved the v3 and put over 500 miles in them before sadly putting them in the bin lol Really excited when I saw Asics were releasing this model. I recently sold my Superblast 2's as I just didn't think they were as good as the hype suggested. I replaced them with the Prime X2 Strung and I'm really enjoying those 👌🏻 Now I have to decide do I go with the Glideride Max OR the Glycerin Max?? Surprisingly leaning towards the Brooks though and I never thought I'd see myself saying that 😳
@noahsmolsky44342 ай бұрын
Go for the Glideride, a better shoe. Went to the store yesterday, wanted to get the glycerin max and didn’t like it at all! Weird ride, very chunky. Got the glideride and already got 18km in them this morning. This is an amazing high stack show, but without being bulky. It was great for cruising, but I could also go faster with them. Nice rocker and the foot feel secure and safe. By the way, I was also disappointed by the Superblast 2.

@noahsmolsky4434 That's interesting 🤔 Lots of people liking the Glycerin out there. As I mentioned I loved the Glideride 3 so was hyped when I saw this coming. Think I need to find a local store that has them in so I can try before I buy but that's so difficult these days 😖

I've got a pair coming from amazon in a couple days. I like the review with the exception of the 1080 mention. I personally don't find that shoe all too versatile. It has a sink in feel that beats you down after about 6-8 miles. I feel like I'm running in quick sand after a bit. If I could only have one shoe? I'd stick with a rebel type shoe or an SC trainer V3. I see this Glideride for the person who wants to eat a bunch of steady run miles without worrying about breaking their ankles. one edit: I do agree that I don't totally know why Asics brought this one to market. Maybe it's a good beginner everyday trainer, but if you're a beginner runner, why are you dropping 170 bucks on a shoe? Go get a rebel or something. And if you're getting more advanced, and want to stick with Asics, go snag a magic speed 4 or superblast 2. At least the MS4 is the same price.

Super video again, Fordy! I always tought this Glideride max is like a "better" Nimbus 26 - probably not so sinky soft (despite the first layer of foam (FFBlastMax) beeing new and softer than the FF Blast+ variations), so a bit faster, better rolling and those kinds of things. The Nimbus 26... ran once in them, hated them. today i put them on going around in town a bit. It is as some reviewers say: Probably a very good walking shoe. Else: Just for heel strikers and slow runs 6+min/km. For anything else with my 90kg/1,80m/5-6min/km/150-160cadence/ unusable. Right after i switched from heel- to forefoot striking (i still don't know excactly where i land and what midfoot striking is - i guess it is when the shoe lands with its complete outsole at then same time on the ground) i tried the Nimbus 26. Absolutely horrible! Too sinky soft, saps all energy, and the slapping... the shoe is SO LOUD on aspahlt it is annoying! Therefore: 200€ for heelstriking snails. ok. I though of THIS shoe (GMmax) being maybe a Nimbus which is actually runable and not just for heelstrinking 6min+/km people. Now you say that the shoe is between an uptempo daily trainer and something better? Really? it is faster than the faster daily trainers? Faster than Mach 6 or Noosa Tri 16? ...Ok. I know you are dissing Hoka, i didn't know them before, but since the Mach 6 they are having EVA foams that are not dead at 100-150 miles (as everyone is saying), therefore: if they fit you, they are very good by now. Also they seem to "innovate", thinking of a bunch of models like the Skyward X with this massive stack of 2 foams (one is peba) + a plate. All and everyone say that this Skyward X is probably the most fun because bouncy shoe there is, especially for heavier guys like me. I love my Speedgoat 5 (yes i know, still the old foam) and Hoka Mach 6 and for more stack there would be the Skyflow and the Skyward X. Also the Mach X2 seems to be good and you yourself say that the Rocket X2 is one of the fastest shoes there is. Also this model seems to get an update in december(?) named Rocket 3. Ah, and the new Novablast 5, releasing in december should have the FFBlastMax foam and is supposed to be softer and bouncier than the Novablast 4.

You have to mortgage your house to buy that skyward x shoe in Australia it's a ridiculous price for a training shoe.
@philipppuchner11152 ай бұрын
@@geoffreymccann2841 So I've heard Run-Are saying - he is also from Australia. Here it is 225€ - which is also very expensive for "just a running shoe". At least it is a Supertrainer, which has a peba superfoam and a plate. + It is brand new model, so the price tag is not surprising. A Superblast (1+2) is just the superfoam and nothing else, so basically a super simple construction (which saves production time and costs and also saves weight) and it id also 220€. Racing shoes are from ca 250-300€ and are very specialized and have a way shorter lifespan. Therefore... And I don't want to justify those prices, they are too high imho for "just new fancy running shoes", I'm just saying that in the current cosmos of running shoe prices, I would understand that price. So, the most logical course of action would be making sure which size you need and see if she shoe is something for you or not, and if you know all that, wait for a sale sometime around when the successor comes out. And/or 2nd hand portals, where you can get a good price out of slightly used or basically new runnig shoes. You just have to be patient and then fast if something comes up.
