Why is everyone glitching about the plastic containers. They are reusable. I reuse any plastic I can, because i live with klutzes and glass tends to break when it gets knocked on the floor, plastic does not. Also - while I get the concept behind meal prep - I think they did it weird. I meal prep for the week - but not like that and not in containers like that. And I use much sturdier plastic containers to store my food in that have several years of use on them already and they're still going strong.
@imhuemankeepURcolorsforcrayons
@imhuemankeepURcolorsforcrayons 6 жыл бұрын
Jessica Vetter it’s the chemicals in the plastic that people are aware of. You should NOT use the microwave at any cost. Glass allows you to put in the oven. Do some homework on plastic and microwaves. You will change your out look. I agree with they did the meal prep wrong. They should have done 3 meals for the day. Not just 1 meal for the day.
@nnyn211
@nnyn211 6 жыл бұрын
@@imhuemankeepURcolorsforcrayons Meal prepping just means planning and preparing several meals in advance, which they did. There isn't one correct way to do it as everyone has different needs. Why would someone meal prep for 3 meals a day if they eat prepared food for breakfast and company covers lunch? Next time before you gatekeep someone think about how not everyone is like you and they don't have to be like you.

As a little advice to make meal prep easy for everyone: 1. Pick 2-3 Proteins 2. Pick 2-3 Veggies/Carbs 3. Pick 3-4 Sauces or Spices Mix and match as you need. Examples: 1. Grilled Chicken breast in BBQ sauce with broccoli, 2. spagettie sauce w/ ground turkey meat and zucchini noodles 3. Carne Asada Tacos with rice cooked in salsa. Just to name a few. P.S. Have 3 types of snacks incase you get peckish. Done!

in brazil, most people eat home cooked food. we do like this: we cook half kilo of beans, and freeze it in little tupperware. so you don have to cook everyday. the only thing we cook everyday is the salad. i cool meat three times a week. i never buy ready food for meals. i eat out only for fun.

It's odd to me that meal prepping and cooking in general is considered to be something most people don't do. Here, where I live, everyone cooks their own meals every day (or they meal prep) Also, to me, $6 a meal is expensive.

When I used to live in NYC, I never cooked. Ate out breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was working crazy hours so I had no time to cook during week days. Also with so many amazing restaurants in the city it made sense to eat out.. I would occasionally cook on the weekends and have friends over. But grocery wasn’t cheap either since the closest grocery store was the Whole Foods... factoring in labour and cost of grocery it was more practical to eat out. Most of my friends in NY never cooked or meal prepped so I think it depends on your life style and location.

Same here and I live in the heart of Seattle! I eat cereal or oatmeal for breakfast every morning and I meal prep lunch and dinner (or I make something super easy like pasta, sandwich, quesadilla). Assuming 30 days in a month and 3 meals a day, I average $3/meal. I eat out AT MOST once a month and it's usually for dinner. I meal prep because it also saves me time. Spend 30 minutes cooking and you can have dinner for a week. Now I can go straight home and eat right away - no having to fuss with a restaurant.

I've had a meal swap group for a while now, we each choose from vegan/chicken/beef/breakfast and make 5 seven person serving portions of 2 separate meals and swap, they're all freezer meals so you can pop any of them in your oven or crockpot any night or day you're too tired to cook, and theres always enough for 2 days out of each meal. Ita great, and it's usually only 50$ to make 10 extra meals if you shop right.

Its through an app called postmates, the app will literally pick up any type of food for you (like mcdonalds, or a fancy restaurant) so the fees are higher, its like Uber/Lyft for food. Typically the only places in America that deliver are Pizza Places and Chinese take-out places and they have a minimum charge plus you tip/have a delivery fee.

I'm from LA. We don't often eat at home. Even since I moved from Cali, my husband and I still eat out frequently. Plus, we're the typical lazy Angeleans -- we don't want to cook, but we don't want to go out, and there's no real food delivery here, so we just don't eat, instead. I've had a green smoothie for breakfast, and a cup of tea for lunch/dinner. This is not abnormal for us.

There are just soooo many different, tasty and cool places in LA to go out and eat at that we find ourselves doing that more than cooking. Like I literally went out to Cheesecake yesterday, Yardhouse today and plan to do crab tomorrow lol. Mind you I have a pantry and frig full of food😂😂 eating out or on the go may be LA culture. I batch cook pretty much everything. It's a bit of a faff when you make a whole load of meals in one go, and sometimes I'll be cooking for the best part of a day. But then for about 2 weeks I don't have to do literally anything beyond bunging something in the microwave. It's great! And soooo much cheaper because buying ingredients in bulk is often cheaper, especially with stuff like meat. Love it!! :D

FiddlebirdBlue I'm from the UK. Faff means when something is fiddly and time consuming (in this context anyway) and if you bung something in the microwave (or anywhere for that matter) it's done with no effort of finesse 🙂

Accept to take a bit of time, it's like meditation *_* I plan most of my meals for a week when I shop, and that way I save so much oney (we both are student and spend about 200euro on food a month). Also I am french, so maybe it changes everything xD

Sparot_art it doesn't change, I'm American I food prep every month. My bill is a little over 100. I cook for myself and a family of 6 (including myself) twice a week. This includes all healthy items including catering to a few vegans. I love to cook and even go as far as making mostly everything from scratch. I'm 25 by the way. Happy prepping!

I generally like cooking (but hate meal prepping for a week), but being disabled, and having 2 young kids (who have their own disabilities as well) AND a husband who works from 5am to 6pm, it's not always fun to stand over a stove for 30 minutes with children screaming and stopping me every 5 minutes to help them. That said, we still don't eat out but twice a month.

Meal prep is such a life saver; I've been doing it for years (not consistently, but for a sizable portion of the time). Plus, for those of us with health problems, it's a great way to make sure we're getting all the nutrients we need + none of the stuff we don't! I'm living in China right now, and navigating a new culinary palate has been made SO. MUCH. EASIER. through meal prepping.

I get that, however just like most Ladylike videos this is probably not something they will continue, it's just for the sake of the video. These containers also don't last with extreme temperatures, not to mention are terrible for your health if you are freezing and heating in them.

In the info part it says that the containers are reusable if it makes you feel any better!
