Why is everyone glitching about the plastic containers. They are reusable. I reuse any plastic I can, because i live with klutzes and glass tends to break when it gets knocked on the floor, plastic does not. Also - while I get the concept behind meal prep - I think they did it weird. I meal prep for the week - but not like that and not in containers like that. And I use much sturdier plastic containers to store my food in that have several years of use on them already and they're still going strong.
@imhuemankeepURcolorsforcrayons6 жыл бұрын
Jessica Vetter it’s the chemicals in the plastic that people are aware of. You should NOT use the microwave at any cost. Glass allows you to put in the oven. Do some homework on plastic and microwaves. You will change your out look. I agree with they did the meal prep wrong. They should have done 3 meals for the day. Not just 1 meal for the day.
@nnyn2116 жыл бұрын
@@imhuemankeepURcolorsforcrayons Meal prepping just means planning and preparing several meals in advance, which they did. There isn't one correct way to do it as everyone has different needs. Why would someone meal prep for 3 meals a day if they eat prepared food for breakfast and company covers lunch? Next time before you gatekeep someone think about how not everyone is like you and they don't have to be like you.

As a little advice to make meal prep easy for everyone: 1. Pick 2-3 Proteins 2. Pick 2-3 Veggies/Carbs 3. Pick 3-4 Sauces or Spices Mix and match as you need. Examples: 1. Grilled Chicken breast in BBQ sauce with broccoli, 2. spagettie sauce w/ ground turkey meat and zucchini noodles 3. Carne Asada Tacos with rice cooked in salsa. Just to name a few. P.S. Have 3 types of snacks incase you get peckish. Done!

When I used to live in NYC, I never cooked. Ate out breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was working crazy hours so I had no time to cook during week days. Also with so many amazing restaurants in the city it made sense to eat out.. I would occasionally cook on the weekends and have friends over. But grocery wasn’t cheap either since the closest grocery store was the Whole Foods... factoring in labour and cost of grocery it was more practical to eat out. Most of my friends in NY never cooked or meal prepped so I think it depends on your life style and location.
@b4itstarted7 жыл бұрын
Same here and I live in the heart of Seattle! I eat cereal or oatmeal for breakfast every morning and I meal prep lunch and dinner (or I make something super easy like pasta, sandwich, quesadilla). Assuming 30 days in a month and 3 meals a day, I average $3/meal. I eat out AT MOST once a month and it's usually for dinner. I meal prep because it also saves me time. Spend 30 minutes cooking and you can have dinner for a week. Now I can go straight home and eat right away - no having to fuss with a restaurant.

Ita great, and it's usually only 50$ to make 10 extra meals if you shop right.

Its through an app called postmates, the app will literally pick up any type of food for you (like mcdonalds, or a fancy restaurant) so the fees are higher, its like Uber/Lyft for food. Typically the only places in America that deliver are Pizza Places and Chinese take-out places and they have a minimum charge plus you tip/have a delivery fee.

It was probably because they made meat and vegetable meals, If they had a bigger focus on carbs it would be cheaper tbh like steak and salmon aren't the most budget friendly items...

Meal prep is such a life saver; I've been doing it for years (not consistently, but for a sizable portion of the time). Plus, for those of us with health problems, it's a great way to make sure we're getting all the nutrients we need + none of the stuff we don't! I'm living in China right now, and navigating a new culinary palate has been made SO. MUCH. EASIER. through meal prepping.

i just started meal preping to cut the cost of lunches when me and my bf go to work so we will usally pay for or buy microwave dinner and then have basically home cooked lunch or on a lzy day buy lunch then eat the meal prep for dinner , i try to do 5 days with 2 diffrent meats so for instance to cut time on cooking ill do 2 chicken and 1 pork dish. ill also try to use the same veggie or side such as rice or pasta to cut down on cooking so if i know im makeing rice for one i may do a fried rice or a risotto for the others

the fact that everything in the us is packed in plastic, even their homecooked meals, makes me and all the dying species cry a little
@Harukiraa7 жыл бұрын
You mean their lunches? Its common in the US to buy lunch containers which are plastic to wash and reuse and can typically last a few years until they start getting cracks in them from a dishwasher. How else can you package food so it stays fresh for a couple of days?
@jennanicolesmith92027 жыл бұрын
Not everything is in plastic here. I buy my vegetables not wrapped in anything, and whatever else I need I buy in bulk. I try to avoid plastic as much as I can. But yes, a lot of Americans would freak out if they didn't have their food in plastic.

Britt Blablabla €6 is not equivalent to $6. Plus, they live in an expensive area of the USA. What they bought would not cost me $6 per meal. It would cost me less where I live. Plus...they're kind of...you know...big city girls with lots of money who eat out everyday because they can. The general public, like me, has to cook and eat at home most nights simply because we can't afford to do anything else.

If it's $6 per serving, that's $126 a week per person on just food, with no snacks. ($6×3 meals × 7 days) That is just not attainable to a lot of people!
@prairiehorse61686 жыл бұрын
For 6 bucks, you can get a foot-long subway sandwich where I live which is 2 meals approx. So, it's definitely on the higher side. I think 4-5 dollars would be reasonable. It's maybe because they are having salmon. Lentils and chicken are a lot cheaper.
