Can the new 570 quilter's edition use the Cutwork software? If so, just what shapes can you cut with it? Can you import a shape? I do a lot of applique.

All current BERNINA embroidery machines can use the cutwork tool to cut shapes designed in the CutWork software. The software lets you design shapes of your choice and as long as they fit in your hoop(s), the machine can cut them for you. For more info, visit your nearest BERNINA store.

Please could you help me with my new Bernina 770QE Plus. I have had it about 3 months and my cutter does not cut anymore when I press the scissors button. It is all clean with no stray threads but I would love to have it working again. Many thanks. Maureen

If the cleaning of the thread cutter is not helping, then it is time to take it to your local dealer for them to check out. Best wishes.

Why do my stitches start to gather when I’m doing straight stitching

HI Elizabeth, typically stitches begin gathering when they are either too long or the thread being relatively thick for the weight of the fabric. Even if that is the case, reducing the needle thread tension (e.g. by half a unit) will help compensate. For regular weight woven fabrics, a stitch length of 1.75-2.0 will usually yield a smooth seam without gathering the fabric. A sharp needle (e.g. jeans 80) will do well on most woven fabrics.
