My dad died from covid in November 2020. Two weeks, isolated in a hospital not allowed to be with the people who loved him. The first week he thought he was getting better until all of a sudden he didn't know where he was. He wasn't getting oxygen in his lungs. He was sedated and eventually put on a respirator. Knowing how terrified of hospitals he was in the first place, then to not have his wits about him and not being able to be there for him as he had been when I was hurt as a kid still makes me cry.

I think there were many of us, those that died and those of us that carried on, that walked this same road. My daughter died in September 2020 from COVID19 after 18 days from contracting it. We could not see her either. She was alone except for the nurses. Her father made a cassette tape and they played it for her over and over. Her father singing to her was the last things she heard as she passed on. My only wish was to hold her in my arms one more time; to hold her hand and let her know we were there so she knew she was not alone. It was gut whencing that we could not be there for her in her final moments. I understand your tears as one that continues to feel the tragic unexpected sudden lose of someone we love years later.

My wife died a few months ago. She had a terminal illness, and I was very afraid that it was going to be a horrible lingering death for her. Fortunately, she died at a weekly doctor's visit, after having one of her best days ever. She was in the middle of telling the receptionist what a great day and meal she had the previous day and fell silent. Correct and the animation seemed geared for children as the audience. The biggest drawback or problem in my opinion: it showed the 'dead' characters all singing the song along together which could be misinterpreted to 'see, they are all mangled and missing parts but are still happy and alive' and not actually dead never to do anything again. Whoever came up with the campaign was dazzled by the 'brilliance' to not see it from a child's POV

@@petertocher6845 The level of violence is about the same, the difference is one trying to convey a 'message' while the other is just ultra violent entertainment (yes, I love Happy Tree Friends) and only one shows the now mangled, burned, impaled or parts missing cute characters doing a group sing-along. The other actually shows the 'dead' characters not being all happy, ever again. One episode of Happy Tree Friends at the amusement park should scare young children from ever going to one again!

Staying overnight in the hospital, my wife climbed into bed with her grandmother and asked her to read her a story. So she did, just like she had every hot Florida summer before. Then, they went to sleep. In the morning, she was gone. I have been working at nursing homes for 20 years. A bad death can also be dying alone having out lived everyone you remembered from your life. Sure there may be great grandchildren but they are people you can barely relate to. Some people die totally alone in their little room or apartment and are only found when the mail piles up or the neighbors complain of a bad smell and no one recalls seeing you for a while. I myself am 68 years old and I have already outlived all my old friends and most of my relations. My twin sons are still alive but everyone else is gone. My great-grandfather committed suicide by setting himself on fire. I always thought that or being mauled to death by an animal would be the worst ways to die.
@sarahsander785
@sarahsander785 7 ай бұрын
For the animal I actually don't think it is as worse as one imagines. If you listen to survivors of animal attacks (at least by big predatory animals) they all tell you that the adrenaline rush kicks in pretty quickly, making it so you don't feel the pain. My mother told me this as well, after she got attacked by a dog. If you are mauled by an animal that's going to directly kill you (like a tiger, leopard, lion or posibly a feral dog) I think your shock reaction will take care of the situation pretty well. Not so much with bears, so, as it's said that they have a tendency to keep you alive for some days even. Don't think adrenaline will keep up with that.

I suppose I did think too far into it, didn't I? But, I think KNOWING that you're about to be crushed is terrifying enough, even if the death itself is quick/not as painful. I think I'm more afraid of the imminence of my death, rather than the event alone. Having a gun pointed in your face, then being shot has got to be worse than being shot from behind, without your knowledge. Thinking too much again, as always.

When being crushed, death tends to occur when the breastplate and ribs break puncturing the heart, lungs, or both at the same time. Its important to note that in cases where your diaphragm can still expand, the pain can last as long as the bones can hold out. This effectively means that if done carefully enough, one can be crushed for days before death. Happy nightmares.

Burning alive haunts me. When I was in 7th grade my friend and I were going fishing with his dad. We had just turned into the highway and came upon a crash where a woman and her grandson were in a minivan that had slammed into the back of a grain truck. The woman was trapped in the van and the engine compartment was burning. Men were trying desperately to rip the door off with a chain and truck but the fire flared up and consumed the van. I am now 42 and can still remember the horrible screaming and sounds she made as she burned to death. It seemed to go on forever. I was hoping for her sake she would just die to end the suffering. It was awful.

The casket contained a very heavy woman. The casket hit my grandfather in the chest. They got the casket set up in the home for the viewing. My grandfather did not feel well and went to rest in the driver's seat of the hearse. When the viewing was over the other funeral worker went to get my grandfather to help carry the casket back to the hearse. My grandfather was found dead slumped over the steering wheel of the hearse. The impact of the casket caused a blood clot to dislodge and died of a coronary thrombosis.

When I read the story of the young man who went caving, crawled a little too far in then slid headfirst down an incline till he became stuck. He was stuck like that for days as the rescuers tried in vain to pull him out. Their only viable option, given the shape of the hole he was in, was to break his legs so they could make it around the bend he had slid through. Stuck in that head down position, he died before they tried that. Just watching those caving videos where people are squeeeezing themselves through these tiny holes, where if they got stuck, they were done, sends my stress through the roof.

Dying doesn’t scare me at all. My health issues are going to kill me within the next 12 months maximum. My death is going to be very painful over a 4-5 day period, as I’ve decided to stay at home, rather than spend anymore time in hospital than I already have, I’ve been in a hospital bed just shy of 12 years over the last 18 years. I just wish that Australia would change its views on a dying persons choice to tap out before they die, and give us a choice on how to exit from the world. I do how ever feel like I’m very blessed, as I’m lucky enough to be able to spend quality time with my family, friends and loved ones, and at least get to say goodbye and thank everyone for the amazing lives that we’ve had with each other, so many people never get that, they leave for work in the morning, and they never see their loved ones ever again, so as I said, I feel very blessed for that to happen. A lot of people don’t understand that with the terminally ill, death isn’t always the worst option. God bless everyone and stay healthy in this time of uncertainty. Keep up with these fantastic video’s, as I believe death is something that should be talked about openly, as we are all going to go through it sooner or later, death shouldn’t be this taboo subject in life, not in this day and age. Learning more about death and it’s processes are very fascinating I believe. Peace everyone, and much love, from me to you.

For me, one of the worst ways to die is through one of the many variations of dementia. Something about slowly losing the ability to express yourself, remember, and function as a living human being until youre essentially a vegetable, deeply terrifies me. To add the cherry on top of this existential dread sundae, i am most likely neurodivergent, (autism, adhd, etc.) And aleready struggle with short term memory issues. neurodivergent people have a higher chance of getting some form of dementia (mainly alzhimers) in old age. Aside from that though, i dont really have a reason to really fear it now. Im 18 years old, theres a possibility i wont even get in old age, both sides of my family have never had cases of dementia, and more than likely by the time im old enough to truly worry about it, there will be better treatment options or even a cure for it.

Most people die very quickly, and don't know it's coming. The process leading up to cardiac arrest might not feel that nice, you'll probably feel pretty sick from the heart attack or stroke or whatever, but once your heart stops you've got about 10 seconds of "Hey, I feel really weird..." before it's lights out upstairs. You're still aware on some level, but not in a human sense, so you won't really feel any pain or anxiety. I've known some people remember going unconscious, and being just simply "aware", and able to hear us planning the resuscitation. Then oxygen levels get too low in the brain, and memories stop being "recorded". Really creepy when someone who was theoretically totally unconscious tells you "I heard you defibrillate me, and say you needed someone to get more oxygen"! The memories usually seem to be very disembodied, which ties up with a LOT of spiritual and religious beliefs about consciousness and the "soul" if that's what you believe. Even looking at it scientifically, there's ongoing research into awareness during cardiac arrest, very interesting stuff! It seems to me like most deaths are pretty peaceful, the end comes quickly and towards the end all you feel is your body trying to survive. You lose a lot of awareness anyway during any major medical problem like massive blood loss, or heart attack.

I think the worst way to die that I've ever heard of was a woman who disappeared from inside her own home. People were completely baffled. It was like she had just vanished into thin air. Just, poof, gone, with no trace left behind. Until...a smell started to come from a room. Her family moved a dresser, and found the corpse of the woman behind it. The weird thing about the way she was position was that she was upside-down, and pinned against the wall by this dresser. Turns out, she had dropped a remote behind this dresser, and was attempting to get it out when she somehow got trapped. The way she was positioned meant that she had slowly suffocated to death. It took her a long time to die. She would not have had the air to cry for help, but she likely would have been able to hear her family moving around the rest of the house. The thought of slowly dying like that, and not being able to scream for help, while still being able to hear your family in the background....ugh. I'm good

I used to have a few weird phobias, especially of electricity, tornados, a few other common things. I made it to middle age, and they're all pretty much gone. Maybe it's just that my meds are working. At this point, my fears are more about some of the things that could happen along the way rather than the means of death itself. When I first started watching this video, I was specifically thinking about that guy who steamed alive when this video started, and then you mentioned him. I cooked professionally for quite a while, and I can attest to the pain and destruction of steam burns; it is the nastiest way to go if we're talking about a single, most painful situation. Awful, but highly unlikely. That horrible Persian milk-and-honey drown-in-the-poop sounds horrific . . . and boring, at least until infection sets in. Also awful, but highly unlikely.

Drowning is not so bad, once it gets to a certain point. On my 9th birthday, I got caught underwater, and my feet were tangled, hanging me upside-down. The panic was the worst, but it only lasted less than a minute. Then I felt the cool water entering my lungs, and I felt cold from the inside, but my body relaxed. I could not even try to move, and I saw the world above me turn from the blue of the water, then to a deep blue, then faded to black. I still remember thinking, "So this is what drowning is. It's not so bad." And I felt peaceful as I drifted away. Obviously, I was rescued, waking up to my friend's Dad straddling me while I was face-down on the hot dirt. He was pushing hard on my back and I was puking up water. God bless him. Bad headache after that.

I worked as an EMT for 13 years and have been a first responder for over 30 years. Of all the ways I've seen people die, I would say dying in a fire has got to be the worst. I got a chemical burn on my finger once and it was incredibly painful. I hate to think was that sensation must feel like all over your entire body. Sheer agony until your body gives up. Radiation sickness runs a very close second. If I had a choice on how I would like to go, I would say I want to die in a nuclear explosion. You're vaporized before your brain cells can even register what's going on. Plus, there's no dignity in death. The last thing I want is to have my neighbors call the police because there's a terrible smell coming from my house, and then have the cops find my bloated body lying naked on the bed because I had a stroke after taking a shower. No thank you.

Taking what you said, It surprises me that the way you would chose to die is also including thousands to taken right along with you. That is really fucked up. WOW! More so I would think that a person in the medical field would have chosen to die by a sudden brain aneurysm. They say when it happens suddenly there is no pain and the person die instantly. Back to that nuclear explosion. Why do you want so many to go with you when you die, why does everything have to be wiped out? What is it you are hiding that not only no one else around you will find out when the go clear out your living quarters? You want to completely destroy any evidence of whatever you are into... HUM?
@ed209inCA
@ed209inCA 4 жыл бұрын
@@AztecWarrior69 LOL. Turn off your reruns of "Murder She Wrote", and don't read into it any deeper than you need to. It's a hypothetical situation, and one I have zero control over; so, it's not like it's my choice to kill millions of people along with myself. I've seen people die in just about every method you can think of, except an explosion. Some people suffered in agony before their bodies finally gave out. Some were killed instantly from traumatic injuries. Others died peacefully in their sleep only to be found decomposing days or weeks later. Regardless, there's no dignified way to go. There's also no way to tell how deeply one person's death will affect other people they know or associate with. Either way, If some crazy dictator decided he wanted to start WWIII, I wouldn't have any say in the matter. If escape wasn't an option though, then why not die in a nuclear blast with 10 million of your closest friends and family? No one suffers the pain, no one feels the grief afterward, and no one will be left to clean up the mess. It's a win/win for everyone involved.

When I was young, working in construction, a welder who was replacing cutting edges on a huge push/pull machine over night was slowly cut in half as he did not weld the bucket in place as was custom for safety before sliding between the bottom cutting edge and the bucket operated by hydraulics. Unnoticed until it was too late the hydraulic system slowly lost compression and trapped him. Unable to escape or stop it from descending, he was tragically cut in literal half and his son found him in the morning. This scene has haunted me my entire life.

MimisMayhem it almost happened to me when I had my youngest son. I had been in induced labor for over 48 hours because the hospital staff was too shitty to have an ultrasound tech on duty to just simply look and see why my baby wasn’t coming out. Mine and his heart rates as well as my blood pressure dropped dangerously low. I remember laying there crying as the room got filled with nurses going crazy trying to figure out what was going on. I felt so heartbroken, I really thought that I was never going to see my older son ever again and never meet my newborn, and he may not live. Then finally the hospital got an ultrasound tech in there and they realized my baby was sideways, with his head stuck in my hip, also being strangled by his umbilical cord with each contraction, so I was rushed into the operating room for an emergency C-section. Luckily my baby did live but he is a bit mentally slow due to lack of oxygen for 2 days. If anyone is reading this and wonders what hospital it was, it was the Women’s Hospital of Greensboro, North Carolina. I warn everyone to stay clear of that place. They are understaffed and mostly only have students who aren’t real doctors on staff.

The reason he gave me was he told me he was actually afraid people who were cremated might feel their bodies being burned after death. As a child I used to wonder if a person who is buried, still might know what's going on around them. That would mean you would just lay day after day in total darkness in a casket for years and years until you eventually turned to dust. That childhood fear is probably why I decided to be cremated. Since unlike most people, I know I'd get bored laying around doing nothing for all eternity.

As someone who has officially drowned and then resuscitated via CPR, i can tell you that drowning is not as bad as i was to believe. Apart from the panic that you get before you lose your muscle strength, inhaling water and then the tingly sensation on your extremities and then your vision slowly creeping away from the sides into the middle until all you see is darkness. After that it gets very quiet and you can't feel anything apart from the water current pushing you around and everything is just calm. And then i woke up coughing water continously with a man looking down upon me on the beach, my lungs hurt like hell and so did my chest/ribs. And that's how i know how scary it is in the beginning, but not so bad after the initial shock. (no i did not drown on purpose, and i was also very very young and didnt have much strength to fight the current)

@Calian I'm going to have to disagree with you on that based on my experience with near fatal pneumonia. What probably made your experience not as bad as mine is you lost consciousness. I basically was being waterboarded for an extended period of time via pneumonia. Being aware and conscious and being kept alive and conscious was one of the worst experiences of my life. On the flip side, I had a cough syncope in 2011. I fainted from intense coughing. I became light headed and fainted. I had a very bad bout of bronchitis I couldn't get rid of. I vaguely remember hitting the floor fainting. It was painless. There was a momentary lack of blood and oxygen to my brain from the coughing fit. This is probably closer to your drowning experience. It wasn't drawn out with suffering like my near fatal bout of pneumonia two years later.

I lost a brother 19 years ago, he drowned during a trip with friends. I am happy that he didn't suffer as much as I thought he did. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I almost died drowning in a hotel pool the day before going to Disneyland for the first time. I jumped in the deep end and just got caught on the bottom of the pool. I was panic & then an inner voice not my own told me ti relax & let go. Then I just remember giving up and starting to feel a deep calm and warmth then a light. I saw what I thought the hand of God coming to get me, but soon realized it was my brother in law reaching in to save me. I wish he were here now so I could thank him.

I had a freind who dove into the water, and his foot became tangled in some fishing line. He said he could see the light above from the sun. He was struggling, and paddling to get to the surface. He began to run out of air, and he said he was panicking. Once he took in that first breath of water, he said that a perfect peace came over him, and he stopped struggling. He was looking up at the surface, and at the last moment before he lost conscience, he saw an arm reach down, and grabbed him by his hair, and jerk him up to the surface. My biggest fear is burning to death.

Thank you. Downing is a big fear of mine. My uncle's plane went down over a lake last December and the coroner found carbon monoxide in his lungs. He was fine before he hit the water. It brought me peace. Burning is terrifying to me

Jayden Dimaio nah it’s scary. I’ve had 2 situations where I’ve almost drowned. I never go in the deep ends without a pool noodle as silly as it looks.

Drowning is usually described by those who survived as somewhat euphoric, which occurs as your body is depleted of oxygen. Burning alive is horrific pain as your nerve endings melt away and you suffocate on smoke.

I have to agree with you and I hope you rarely suffer those affects. When people die of an asthma attack it has to be excruciating and slow. They always defecate and pee themselves in the struggle to breath through a coffee stirrer sized hole.

Yes. I have worked in nursing homes, with people just waiting to die.... no loved ones come to visit, just taking pills and being shuffled around all day for years on end.

True. I worked in a nursing home where people laid in recliners all day. Feeding tubes, oxygen, unable to move. Alive, but not living.

My Papaw spent his last year and a half in a nursing home/hospice care situation. I visited him every Friday, my mom would see him about 3 times a week and my sister and dad also saw him regularly. Probably one of his happiest moments was when my sister brought our parents dog to see him. They were so happy to see each other. He passed 2 weeks after his 93rd birthday and our dog died just last week.

@@redgreen82 I saw my Aunt's last days in a nursing home. While I was in town (her last two months) I visited her at least twice a week, sometimes 3 or 4 times. Two of her children visited regularly, between them it was almost daily. She was far enough gone from Alzheimer's that she did not recognize me as being her nephew, though she did recognize I was a frequent visitor. Her daughter also hired a companion to be with her and care for her maybe 5 hours each weekday. Even with all this it was a pretty pathetic existence. The nursing home had once been a good place, but the quality of care declined a lot, and we had to be constantly after them. Without allies on the outside we are helpless against this. It is a real nightmare.
